Alright fine we can keep both Bryan Thomas Jr but one of them has to change their name to
Bryan Hines-Thomas Jr, it’s the only way

21

u/GeckoRoamin 3d ago

One of them should just change their name to Josh Allen

u/PostYing King Dedede 3d ago

This is the way someone got to get hyphenated.

Big takeaways:
* Bryan Thomas Jr is making this roster
* Aguilar should be our backup QB
* New Agent Zero is the man

They're legally required to keep Bryan Thomas Jr now.

I didn't get the meme on the front page until now (didn't watch the game).

Seems like that name should be unique enough that an NFL team doesn't have two players with it. Kinda wild.

u/Cr0matose 3d ago

BTJ is him

BTJ is them

u/Boomz_N_Bladez 3d ago

Can we get the spider man BTJ meme for the banner?!

Light work

u/HiawathaSM2 3d ago

Aguilar has potential. Hopefully they keep him around, keep that development going.

u/Strobberyshortcake 3d ago

Was way more impressed by him than the rest for sure. Bradley has a good arm but his innacuracy and decision making is just not there, and Mullins is just not it

4

u/BloodOfJupiter 3d ago

Please god let's do itt. Mullens has had PLENTY of chances and continues to disappoint

0

u/cousinofchrist 3d ago

Bradley had moments of greatness also

u/statelesspirate000 3d ago

BTJ57 has to make the 53

5

u/GeckoRoamin 3d ago

Coen pretty much said as much in his postgame

13

u/tanu24 3d ago

Wortham

24

u/Blue_Doom_Guy 3d ago

Really good showing by BTJ57, Jalen Hunt, and Michael Wortham.

Defense was flying around all night. Im just glad to see guys playing with their asses on fire despite having almost no chance of making the final 53.

u/Thatdewd57 3d ago

I’m rooting for BTJ57 cause he did well but also wearing the same jersey number that I did in high school.

8

u/DoctorDiddlerino Livin' in the Sunshine state 3d ago

I was rooting for him purely because it would be funny to have 2 BTJ's.

6

u/break80 3d ago

Those are 3 of the most jag names ever.

10

u/ragingchump 3d ago

0 - I want him doing something somewhere

I'm now in my 3rd year of stanning hardcore for Washington - and I'm not wrong, but, thank you Jakobi - you unbelievably reliable serious threat

37

u/Boomz_N_Bladez 3d ago

Mullens still sucks. Aguilar should be the choice but Bradley has his moments, I'll take Bradley over Mullens for sure, but Aguilar is above both.

Bryan Thomas Jr and Wortham are standouts.

Also, Trammel and Long made me wonder why we bothered drafting 2 TEs.

Deejay made a solid case today, but I feel like he will be the odd man out in the RB room, too much depth

2

u/Catalyssstttttt 3d ago

Deejay Dallas is a slow ass RB, Abdullah is the 4th

2

u/omglawlz 3d ago

I felt like they were giving Deejay an opportunity to put out some film. I think he’s done.

7

u/AlterNate 3d ago

I think the D could be pretty special. All of a sudden we have pass rushers and a deep secondary.

u/Blue_Doom_Guy 3d ago

The one kinda negative takeaway across 3 preseason games is that I don't love the fact that we've had random UDFA's outplaying the draft picks. I was hoping at least one of them would come out and stick it to the media for dogging us but that didn't really happen. Regis had that 1 sack I guess, but yeah.

16

u/electricityisout Off the Tractor Bouman 3d ago

I mean when most of the drafted rookies weren’t even playing in the preseason than yeah by default the undrafted guys will look better lol

Boerk, Pregnon, Koziol, Regis, Cameron, and CJ Williams did not play tonight

-11

u/Blue_Doom_Guy 3d ago

I'll emphasize --->across 3 preseason games<---

Pregnon - Loved the pick. Day 1 starter. Next.

Boerkircher - I'm cautiously optimistic to watch, but I'll maintain that we was massively overdrafted for a guy who might be a slightly better version of Hunter Long.

Cameron - I'd give him a roster spot for potential special teams value alone.

CJ Williams - Meh. I feel like Pena and even Wortham put better tape on the field. He's been decent in the short/intermediate game but nothing remarkable. Practice Squad.

Regis - He'll get a spot for sure. According to beat reporters, he's been mostly invisible this training camp. I guess we'll see, but I don't really see him living up to his 3rd round value. Not like how Davon Hamilton has.

Koziol - I'd cut him. He's shown to be a complete liability in the run game, even against future insurance salesmen. Morris and even Long have at least looked competent, and if we're keeping a 5th round rookie on the depth chart solely for receiving ability, he better damn be the next Jimmy Graham.

13

u/xEllimistx Chad Josh Allen 3d ago

About Koziol

He’s not there to run block. He might develop that over time but he was drafted to be a seam stretching pass catcher, particularly in the red zone where his 6’7” frame can give Trevor someone who can win jump balls in the end zone

8

u/JAX_HAZ3 3d ago

Boerkircher and Koziol both are going to be marching in anytime we hit the redzone. I could see a 13 red zone personnel that is all three TE and Hunter or BTJ

10

u/Warm-Performer2440 3d ago

Jalen Huskey has been a dawg. And for a 6th round rookie Josh Cameron has well outplayed his draft position in camp and the preseason games.

u/Jaglawyer11 “Don’t sleep on Gladstone.” 💪💪💪💪 3d ago

Coen said on the telecast, in reference to Boerkircher and his development, that he caught two TD's against both the Panthers and Bucs in the joint practices, which is a helluva lot more important than these sorry ass preseason games where this is zero game planning....The TE drafted before him, Stowers, that everyone was raving about before the draft, has huge bust written on him according to Philly insiders. I'll take Coen's word on our TE....

-3

u/Aggravating-Web-8573 3d ago

Koziol most def played tonight but agree with the general logic lol. He caught that first big pass with Mullins

10

u/electricityisout Off the Tractor Bouman 3d ago

He did not play

4

u/Aggravating-Web-8573 3d ago

Very correct and I just have hallucinated Kozial catching that ball my bad lol

2

u/Aggravating-Web-8573 3d ago

Fully my bad. Didn’t realize hunter had the burners like that

10

u/Aggravating-Web-8573 3d ago

I get what you’re saying but as long as we can get dudes whether they be draft picks or UDFA dawgs on the 53/PS I’m cool. Shit James Robinson was a UDFA that allowed Lenny to walk. BJ Greene, Danny Striggow & Matt Dickerson all UDFA which are going to make the 53.

9

u/Blue_Doom_Guy 3d ago

Im not cool cause that's not sustainable. Eventually, it catches up to you no matter how good your coaches are.

6

u/Aggravating-Web-8573 3d ago

Gladstone is drafting for development in which 2 drafts and 1 year of playing is not really a fair timeline to judge these dudes. Which is a weird position for us to be in as jags fans. We don’t need any of this picks to immediately pan out for the jags to be successful (maybe hunter should pan out). Both 6th round WR look like studs, boerkicher is a positional dude who’s flashed in camp and none of these rookies have played 1 snap in a game alongside a single dude in the starting offense or defense.

2

u/highdef1776 3d ago

What does 'draft-for-development' mean though? As opposed to what? Drafting a guy to push a starter, or one that can at least outplay your UDFA's?

3

u/Boomz_N_Bladez 3d ago

Draft for development means exactly what the words mean... You arnt drafting necessarily for immediate impact, you are drafting people who have high ceiling but can use a year or two behind the starter, and by the time retirement or cap crunch moves the starter along, your guy you drafted a couple years ago is ready to take over fulltime(if another option didn't come up).

Bad teams always draft for immediate impact, because they need it, but it doesn't pan out very well often. Good teams don't necessarily look for immediate impact in draft(though it's always nice when that happens), they draft for the future, not now. Look at GB and there QB picks since Favre as a perfect example of what I'm articulating. There are plenty of other examples, but that's how it is. Good teams develop, bad teams don't and expect it now.

1

u/highdef1776 3d ago

Well, the Packers took consensus board favorite Dani Dennis-Sutton at edge one pick after we took high-ceiling, draft-and-develop guy Wesley Williams in the 4th. A quick scan of Packers twitter:

"Dani Dennis-Sutton missed the first two preseason games with a heat-related illness. He just had a loud sack on the opening drive. Rookie fourth-round pick trying to crack the regular season edge rotation." Matt Schneidman

"Dani Dennis-Sutton is a player. And Anthony Campbell is gonna have a new number by Sunday night because he’s making the Packers." Peter Bukowski

"Dani Dennis Sutton will be starting opposite Micah Parsons in 2027." Packerfan Total Access

I'll be keeping an eye on it.

2

u/Aggravating-Web-8573 3d ago

Drafting dudes you don’t expect to start week one? Who cares if they come in UDFA vs the draft as long as they’re good. A’la Parker Washington

1

u/highdef1776 3d ago

I would expect any 6th rounder to require development (a la Parker Washington), but loosely and generally speaking, I would expect a 6th rounder to outperform an UDFA (given that the 6th rounder was evaluated as worthy of a draft pick and the UDFA was not).

1

u/InexorableWaffle 3d ago

I mean, the whole theory behind drafting older prospects as we did this draft (5th-oldest draft class by average age this year) is that you hope they're more immediately ready to contribute. Obviously not writing any of them off based on preseason alone, but if they're overwhelmingly not ready to contribute in year 1 or 2, then it would be a strong indication that something needs to change in our draft process.

3

u/nbasuperstar40 3d ago

That happens with every team. There are a lot of steals as the best players don't always get drafted as they lack measurements and tools.

5

u/pukerat 3d ago

Cheeky little jaunt by Liam there

3

u/Doug_Dimmadome_x 3d ago

Was someone on the specialist team hurt mid game? Why were we without the kicking game for the 2nd half?

12

u/electricityisout Off the Tractor Bouman 3d ago

Resting starters

5

u/BaalkesOldBurnerAcct James Gladstone 3d ago

Little did kickoffs (touchbacks), but not FGs. No point taking the risk this close to the season.

9

u/Jaguars4life 3d ago

Didn’t watch the game

How did everyone look?

9

u/thrwthisout James Gladstone 3d ago

Like most of them won’t make the final 53

4

u/Jaguars4life 3d ago

So Preseason?

16

u/Cr0matose 3d ago

How do you have infinite time to post to every sub possible on reddit while writing whatever you do but cant watch games?

0

u/Jaguars4life 3d ago

Blue Jays were playing on Apple TV and Dylan Cease was pitching

Couldn’t miss that

-7

u/Cr0matose 3d ago

lmao god damn, respect making up dog shit.

2

u/Jaguars4life 3d ago

Well the next time the Jaguars are playing it will be a game that matters and no matter what I will be here watching them

2

u/Cr0matose 3d ago

Well the next time the Jaguars are playing it will be a game that matters

You are right, the next game they play will be a regular season game

-2

u/Jaguars4life 3d ago

Yeppers

7

u/Cr0matose 3d ago

You say yeppers on my sub again, I'll nuke it because you said it

9

u/jordanicans2 3d ago

Rightfully so, we can't let that shit stand here

7

u/BosqueBravo King Dede(de) 3d ago

Still not sure ‘bout Gladstone in the draft, but we did pick up some good UFAs!

2

u/xDUVAL_BRODOWNx 3d ago

I didn't like the draft immediately following the draft, but after seeing camp highlights and some interviews of this rookie class I like these guys a lot. They all seem like team-first, hard work, lunch pail kinda dudes.

Boerk might have been a reach, but if they graded his blocking that much higher than every other TE, the pick might have been made solely with the idea of beating Houston in mind. I can live with that.
