Finished:
• Yesteryear, Caro Claire Burke — 4.0 stars; Maybe it’s because I went into this with the lowest of expectations but honestly, I quite enjoyed this book. The MC is incredibly annoying, but I almost liken her to Ruby Franke from 8 Passengers from how narcissistic she is, and I find that kind of psyche interesting to read about.
• Recognizing the Stranger: On Palestine and Narrative, Isabella Hammad — 4.5 stars; A very short work, but one that gave me a lot to think about: narrative, recognition, denial, whose humanity is treated as self-evident, and whose must continually be demonstrated.
Paused:
• Unreasonable Hospitality, Will Guidara; While I’m sure the book has great value and will help me in some areas, the more chronological and anecdotal way he relays the information isn’t doing it for me right now. I’ll pick it up when I’m ready for it again.
Started:
• Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt, Ben Reeves; well, I was crying about 30 pages in so suffice it to say, this might become a 5 star for me lol
• There Is No Antimemetics Division, qntm; this was recommended to me because it has Severance and Pluribus vibes which is exactly up my alley!
• Alone With You in the Ether, Olivie Blake; I need a romance palate cleanser book to round off the month and I’ve heard great things about this one!
