Hi! I asked a dev. You still will need the Karambwan vessel to fish which is the same as current ingame and you need to complete the quest to cook them. I believe that fish from regular fishing will be stored in the Cargo Hold.

Do the Fish crates work for normal fishing when depositing into the cargo hold?

So...the "quest not required" label in the blog is just wrong, then? Why put that label there if the intent is for the quest requirements to not change?

You dont need to finish Tai Bwo Wannai Trio to fish Karambwans. Once you the obtain the vessel during the quest you can fish them even without finishing the quest.

completing the quest has never been required to catch them, only to cook them
