Hey,

Thanks for flagging this to us. We've taken a look at this case and determined the ban is correct.

This player has been banned twice, the first was a temporary ban on the 2nd of September 2025 where clicks were .5 seconds apart for 6 hours, this happened across at least two sessions. Their permanent ban was their second offence, which was an autoclicker at Bloodwood trees, re-clicking at 10016-10030ms consistently for 2 hours in one of their sessions. Whilst this may be possible for a human to perform manually, we can see the moments where the player takes manual control and the timings become less consistent. Then we can see the clicks returning to the same pattern as before. Unfortunately, we cannot determine any other reasoning behind this behaviour than an auto-clicker, which is not allowed under our rules.

We would like to take the opportunity to clarify that Remote Desktop use is allowed and we have the ability to recognise it. There is a small margin of error in some cases, and we're working to resolve that as soon as possible.

THE SMACKDOWNNNNNNNNNN

Imagine autoclicking bloodwoods on a MAXED Zuk helm GIM bro. Sit the fuck down

143

u/Richybabes 7d ago

Probably wouldn't have a maxed gim if not for the botting. These are just the times they've been caught.

Doing it on a zuk helm is crazy though.

Backup of the post below:

Remote Desktop Concerns

Hey again, Scapers. You may have seen a few of my posts recently. I’ve been desperately trying to reach out to any staff for the past month to assist me with my account.

I have a maxed GIM (Gim Dong Un) who was very close to achieving a Zuk helm when it was flagged this past month. I have never installed any unauthorized third-party software, RWTed, bought services, or knowingly broke any rules laid out by Jagex. I have strictly played on Runelite for the duration of the account.

I have screenshots of my entire journey on the account saved in discord via Runelite Discord plugins. I recorded every clog I have obtained, every level I have achieved, along with deaths I’ve had on the account over the past few years.

The last thing I was doing was using Remote Desktop to afk wc bloodwoods when they just came out. I occasionally use Remote Desktop to save phone battery while AFKING on the go, as well as while working from home so I can keep my monitor on work and still take advantage of runelite plugins on my phone.

As I’ve done more and more research in my time off the game lately, I realized that a few other members in the community, including streamers, have reported similar situations involving Remote Desktop. In fact, Soy Duro, a Grandmaster HCIM streamer, was just flagged for Remote Desktop utilization this past weekend. His account was restored the next day due to the large amount of traction he received on his post. I am very glad his account got properly restored, and am hoping for a review on my case as well.

It has been extremely difficult to find any avenue to reach out to support and receive proper assistance. That’s why I’ve continued making Reddit posts in the hope that someone can point me in the right direction.

On both sets of my appeals, I received what appeared to be an automated denial response with no apparent human interaction. This left a very bad taste in my mouth, especially considering the amount of time and dedication I’ve put into this account.

I tried reaching out to Support several times. Every interaction was essentially the same. I would request assistance with my account, and they would direct me to the page for appeals. I explained that I had already submitted two, at which point I was told they could no longer discuss the matter and the chat was closed.

Having no other options, I started reaching out to dozens of J-Mods on multiple platforms (X, Reddit, and Discord) in an attempt to get an explanation and work together to resolve the issue. It has now been a month of unsuccessful attempts to get any sort of response.

I completely understand that JMods are extremely busy supporting such a large player base while also handling their regular responsibilities. Trust me, I absolutely love the developers of this game and believe we are very blessed to have such a passionate team supporting us. I don’t blame individual JMods for not being able to respond to me. However, I do think there needs to be a better system of support in place to prevent situations like this from happening.

I know you have no reason to simply take my word for it, since there are several bad actors out there who have similar posts. Regardless of whether an account is actually innocent or not, the current system makes it incredibly difficult for an innocent player to recover their account if they are incorrectly flagged.

I’m posting this in the hope that someone who has experienced something similar can share their experience, or perhaps someone from Jagex can shed some light on how these situations are supposed to be handled. I love this game and have invested an enormous amount of time into it. I’m not asking for special treatment. I just want a fair opportunity once again for my case to be properly reviewed by a human being.

u/SoraODxoKlink ‘hands off’ ceo btw 7d ago

Wasting that much time on your appeal and going to that level of deception should get your whole Jagex account shot down, like surely he just takes his L and doesn’t harass jmods with that much bullshit

57

u/Bloody_Proceed 7d ago

Honestly, it was probably just chatGPT. Get banned, submit multiple reports via some generative slop, find something that works, repeat for other accounts. Mod North has said they're already facing that sort of issue on some podcast recently, so no reason to believe someone bothered to type it all.

1

u/Dennis2pro 7d ago

Probably had chatgpt write that autoclicker script too. Surely a human can think of a less suspicious range than 10016-10030ms if you wrote that yourself

An RDP connection from a PC to a touch screen device looks identical to simple mouse scripts. Your mouse rests at point (a,b) and then teleports to point (c,d) when you tap on your touch device. Something is fishy. Particularly if you aren't using it as your main way to play. That is to say, that because you have spent a lot of time playing at your PC with a mouse and a little time playing from your phone and tapping, this looks like someone that is botting their main.

9

u/aahrg 8d ago

I used Chrome Remote Desktop, both in touchscreen and trackpad mode (depending on the activity), for multiple years before I caught a ban for it. Ban was quashed upon appeal, before the "jmod smackdown" crowd arrives.

I'm thinking there's another factor at play here. I've noticed some particularly janky weirdness with my inputs whenever my connection is spotty, which might look even more inhuman. Clicks landing in the middle between where I was aiming and wherever my last click was (and I'm not doing these in rapid succession, I'm clicking the spec button then coming back 2 mins later to click another amethyst), or clicks happening late when the mouse movement had already finished a full second ago, etc.

Other potential issue could maybe have been using the virtual keyboard. For like a month leading up to the ban, I was camping MLM, using trackpad mode to move the mouse (ie NOT the touchscreen input that many people point to), and had to use the virtual arrow keys to adjust my camera angle after each weekly update. I think holding down a virtual key causes the program to send rapid inputs rather than a single constant one.

3

u/ArrgsMax 8d ago

Plus they are always making updates to their anti-cheat software. Something that was passing the check yesterday might not get a pass the day after their code changes. Always risks with anything but a standard set up unfortunately.

-4

u/Haunting_Carrot9761 8d ago

That's another good point and certainly may have been a factor.

3

u/UncleJulian 8d ago

Wouldn’t every mobile session be detected this way then? Because every tap of the finger would essentially be a teleport of a mouse… kind of?

0

u/Haunting_Carrot9761 8d ago

Good question!

Jagex will know whether you are playing from a PC or a mobile device. If you are playing from a PC they aren't expecting the instantaneous movement from P(a,b) --> P(c,d). This is a red flag in their system. Playing on mobile, it's assumed you have a touch screen, so instant movement of the cursor is to be expected.

This is the crux of the problem, OP is playing with a touch screen on a system that is not expecting this kind of mouse movement.

Let's reverse the connection, and you are spoofing multiple mobile devices on your PC. I won't explain how, but what I will say is that this is easy. You now have access to more performance than any individual phone and from Jagex's end they will see that multiple touch screen devices are playing from the same IP address. That's not weird. But some botters are using a similar set up to what I've described to bypass cheating detections.

10

u/Aspalar 8d ago

Many people play on touch screen laptops, their detection has to be better than just seeing if you are on a PC or mobile.

→ More replies (7)

1

u/AlternativeSilver504 1d ago

not sure why you got downvoted, but you are right, OSMB was a bot provider that used mobile as client because mobile is harder to detect bot patterns due to the use of touchscreen.
OSMB was the most sucessfull bot I ever seen, some people got literally maxxed accounts with it, and not only one, several. All bots that run throught mobile had detection WAY LOWER, than PC counterparts.

But I believe, jagex has updated bot system to detect mobile bots better and might merged with the version that detects cheats on PC. so I dont think that is an issue anymore? when was your ban?

4

u/Russian-Sniper 8d ago edited 8d ago

I appreciate the explanation and understand where you’re coming from, but I genuinely just want a proper review to prove my innocence since there is nothing I can tell you to prove it. I’ve strictly played on runelite, utilized mobile, and RDP. The reason why I suspect it was RDP is because several other members of the community, including streamers, have gotten falsely flagged for the same reason.

9

u/SourceAwkward 8d ago

I just want to say, I reached mods on discrod for you, in game ticket, just for you to lie, i am heartbroken

23

u/SourceAwkward 8d ago

First I hope you will get the account back

Second Using rdp is not explicitly against the rules, but it operates strictly at your own risk.

Jagex's anti-cheat detection systems can occasionally flag remote inputs or touch controls as unnatural behavior, leading to false-positive bans.Risks and Rules1:1 Input Rule: As long as your remote software sends standard 1-to-1 inputs (one click/tap equals one action), you are technically following the control guidelines.Bot Detection Triggers:

Many players on Reddit 2007scape note that using mobile touch-screen controls via RDP can create linear or erratic mouse tracking that triggers automated bot flags.

I found around 50 posts about rdp ban in a quick hour search

I urge everyone to stop using rdp

1

u/Haunting_Carrot9761 8d ago

This person is correct.

-8

u/Russian-Sniper 8d ago edited 8d ago

Yea after this experience. I am not using it unless we get some clarification from jagex.

3

u/Vet_Leeber 7d ago

You won't be using it anymore because ya banned son

4

u/Haunting_Carrot9761 8d ago

RDP connections are often used to bypass security measures not just in gaming but across a lot of sectors. This alone is a massive red flag. You not consistently utilising a touch screen service from the beginning of account creation adds to it. The inhuman mouse movements on a PC device sealed your fate.

As far as I know, Steam's Remote Play does not use an RDP connection and *might* be a better vector for you to play the game how you currently do. But I am not a Jagex employee and it'd be nice to get clarification if Steam's Remote Play would be fine instead of RDP connections.

22

u/KingKj52 8d ago

It has nothing to do with RDP at all, and Steam Remote Play would give the same false positives if used the same way: touch screen on a desktop pc environment.

I've used chrome remote desktop for years with no issue because I set it to trackpad mode, e.g. instead of my mouse teleporting where I tapped, I swipe the screen to move the mouse, like a.... Well, a trackpad.

The false positives come from the tap controls teleporting your mouse, not RDP as a whole.

-2

u/Russian-Sniper 8d ago

Interesting. I’ve strictly used the tap controls instead of the track pad mode. Not sure if that’s the culprit but a good thing to note either way

0

u/KingKj52 8d ago

Yeah, the game detects that as a bot jumping your mouse to specific coordinates. Which is dumb, no one would use a bot doing that in the first place, but here we are. I've upvoted your posts, good luck 🤞

-1

u/Haunting_Carrot9761 8d ago

"The false positives come from the tap controls teleporting your mouse, not RDP as a whole."

It's the totality rather than any individual factor. As you said for how you've been playing, you've used a track pad that moves the mouse rather than having it teleport. I'm certain that the movement of the mouse from your track pad looks human. Which lowers their CI.

1

u/KingKj52 8d ago

They wouldn't know your using RDP in the first place. At best, runelite only added the ability to detect emulated mouse clicks and keyboard strokes at the kernel level within the last year, and that's the only real metric they would have access to. Notably, there's no guarantee this data is used, and the official client does NOT have this capability. So, yeah, the teleporting mouse from tap mode is the only metric, at least as it pertains to RDP. If I'm wrong, please enlighten me.

1

u/Acid_Comes_With_Rain 8d ago

Well if X streamer got unbanned when doing this then it is obviously a statement that it is in and of itself allowed.

1

u/plasmaz 8d ago

Soy Duro the streamer got banned for remote desktop recently but of course he has the streamer support so was unbanned quickly.

2

u/SoilMassive6850 8d ago

They may also add LLMHF_INJECTED flags to mouse events or GetRawInputData might have a null device, indicating externally injected mouse events which might make a bot flag more likely (I honestly haven't checked if OSRS does this as its a cross platform Java game, but I wouldn't be surprised as its definitely still possible, many games do check these things)

0

u/Haunting_Carrot9761 8d ago

In a different comment I outlined how they could log network traffic to determine if an RDP connection was utilised. But what I said is downright stupid compared to what you just suggested. Really good addition!

1

u/SoilMassive6850 8d ago

Well what I said is what is likely the cause of possible false positives if they use those methods, as those flagging methods can't differentiate between some rdp implementations and things like AHK or whatever other macroing software.

1

u/AlternativeSilver504 1d ago

You are not correct, they cannot log network traffic, they could be sued for that, GEDPR, LGPD(Brazil) ,etc.. you can`t just send information from computer like that, also any antivirus would flag runelite as virus lol... Also, not all remote desktop is RDP protocol, some of them use encrypted connections with different protocols like anydesk, teamviewer, etc...

1

u/Haunting_Carrot9761 1d ago

"We would like to take the opportunity to clarify that Remote Desktop use is allowed and we have the ability to recognise it"

  • Mod Pheasant

1

u/AlternativeSilver504 1d ago

yes they know its a remote desktop by the way the mouse is being captured ( Software/hardware INSIDE GAME) however they cannot just send all your entire network log traffic lmao

1

u/Haunting_Carrot9761 1d ago

That is certainly *a* way to interpret "we have the ability to recognise it".

I'm sure you were playing on RuneLite buddy.

72

u/Cl0udwolfe 8d ago

Can Jagex do something about the fact the only way people get actual support is if their reddit posts start trending? This is pretty depressing

9

u/Ironcasual2376 7d ago edited 7d ago

Are you going to delete this comment now that OP got the smackdown and Jagex was right all along?

13

u/SourceAwkward 8d ago

I agree, we all deserve the same support, even people without reddit

11

u/HCBuldge 8d ago

I can kind of see why correct bans don't always get actual support. This was another j mod smack down and the j mod actually gave data on why the ban is correct. If they did that for every ban, botters could learn how to get around the system.

1

u/AlternativeSilver504 1d ago

Idk man I've been using chrome Remote Desktop for 4-5 years now and used it for countless hours while on the maxing grind and never had any issues. I always used the trackpad mode and not the tap function. Feel like that's the issue is you just need to make sure you use the trackpad mode

I always used the trackpad mode and not the tap function.

Yep, you actively move the mouse that way, so there's no false flag possible

I use Google Remote Desktop and I’ve been doing NMZ via RD from my phone for the last month or so (afk farming tcg packs iykyk) and haven’t had any trouble? I jump on every 15 min and sip a SCB. I’ve also done this to max combat stats on multiple accounts and never had a ban. Just sharing my experience

I used Chrome remote desktop for years without issue, sorry it’s causing you trouble OP

He got a smackdown, wasn’t his 1st offence. Didn’t learn from his temp ban after using an auto clicker, then got hit with a perm the next time.

u/xPHaRMaCYx 8d ago

My account got flagged for it too. It was temp and I got it back and never used it
Again. I used the Google Remote Desktop. 3 summers ago. Never again.

Damn. I wish I would’ve known ahead of time. Hoping to get clarification from jagex on if it should be avoided.

Not using auto clicker seems to be the way

Commenting for good luck on the appeal system

Update: Jmod gave the botter a smack down lol

-3

u/SourceAwkward 8d ago

Yup,

It's f up, but Jagex doesn't got any support, see all the topic in last month

-2

u/Russian-Sniper 8d ago

I believe they’re trying their best, but they just don’t have the proper systems in place yet. I believe they’ll get there in the future though

Get bent botter

Back in 2014 I got a perm macro ban. I had been using a program called Mouse Without Borders, which basically let your mouse seamlessly go between the screens as if it was a multi monitor setup.

The ban was quashed but it did take a couple of weeks. Makes me think some of these programs cause false positives.

Keep up the pressure and hopefully Jagex will see.

Good luck, heard of some people getting their ban overturned in cases like this.

Sadly mine never was, hope yours will.

u/IndicationParking420 8d ago

Never use the tap touch setting. It can easily be mistaken as botting

I used Remote Desktop to max my combat stats on my main without a problem, but since then I've heard of enough people having issues with false bans from it that I can't ever see myself using it again.

This is the reason I don't play. You can invest thousands of hours and there goes your account. I'm surprised you weren't downvoted and the thread taken down. With 164 likes, you are one of the very few lucky ones.

u/No-Argument619 Ultra Chudmaxxer 7d ago

Btw - Jagex confirmed he was using an autoclicker.

2

u/Russian-Sniper 8d ago

Hoping I can keep playing the game! It is my childhood game and it would be sad to see it end like this.

I have read about this happening with Remote Viewers. So I stopped. It kind of sucks because Apple won’t let you background scape so you have to keep the app open to afk. So I would use chrome remote to do stuff, but not since I’ve read posts like this. Incidentally which program did you use?

1

u/Russian-Sniper 8d ago

I used Google Remote Desktop. Yea not having background scape on Apple does suck pretty hard. Not sure if they’re working on that for the future.

-2

u/Simple-Kangaroo4471 8d ago

Beeing a streamer and suck jagex off will get u unbanned

Jesus fucking christ does everyone have to use AI to expand their posts?

Anyways, it is called Remote Desktop.  It's almost like you're afk.  I highly doubt they have a good capability for differentiating bots between real players running a mobile desktop that creates inputs differently than running on the computer itself.

The mobile app has been out literally forever.  Get used to the fact that you'll have to play osrs without runelite sometimes 🤷

-2

u/Russian-Sniper 8d ago

I understand that now. Wasn’t aware that it was a grey area for their detection until after I was flagged. Also, not too sure on the AI part lol. I used a grammar checker! But the post is organic I promise

3

u/Crapitron 7d ago

It isn't a grey area.

Using an auto clicker isn't a grey area either. It's explicitly not allowed.

Deleting your posts isn't a grey area either - it makes you look like a coward.

Hope your ironman gets banned soon too, I'm sure you've also botted it plenty :)

u/67859295710582735625 8d ago

maybe you need the ban, doing all that effort to play the game is not healthy

5

u/Russian-Sniper 8d ago

Touched a lot of grass this past month ngl

3

u/Ironcasual2376 7d ago

I imagine you had lots of time while the bot was playing for you

-6

u/zeinterrupter 8d ago

Hey man, wishing you the best of luck.

I don't care if people believe me or not but i caught a temp minor macro just because i used my phone and remote desktop to alch some items on downtime watching movies here and there.

I can understand that the cursor might jump like a bot but every click was 1 to 1 and with me doing it even if not looking at times.

I asked in BOTH appeals if remote desktop is allowed, it was the ONLY thing i could even imagine that got me flagged and both appeals were denied, both with automated messages, both not responding to me if it was using remote desktop or not or if in any way it is safe to use, not a ounce of human response was in the messages, specially since i asked also to write "potato" so i'd know I was being reviewed by a human but to no avail.

I had to eat the temp. Year long mark on my account I cannot appeal again, that now might be flagged and can't use remote desktop out of fear of the next certain perma.

I am hoping you get your answers and get lucky on the reddit roulette, sorry you aren't a streamer or high view youtuber to get costumer support.

If you do get any clarification on remote desktop usage i would also love to know but i am almost certain they wouldn't give a blank statement on it.

-1

u/Russian-Sniper 8d ago

I unfortunately met the same exact responses on my appeals. Really hoping I just receive proper communication from someone from Jagex on my case.

-2

u/hi_im_a_lurker 8d ago

Hope you get a proper review soon! Just wondering as I'm also an occasional remote desktop user, are you using the mode where you just tap anywhere and it makes a click there? Or the trackpad one? (I can't remember the actual names of it). I've always used the latter after reading about this over the years

1

u/Amprae 6d ago

Update: Jmod gave the botter a smack down lol

1

u/hi_im_a_lurker 5d ago

Yeah I saw, pretty funny! and since then my comment above got downvoted lol.

-2

u/Russian-Sniper 8d ago

Yea I was using the touch to tap option since I found it easier to navigate the screen and click things. Especially when doing things like fletching darts.
