I’m going to meps tmmrw and I have these scars from when I was kid but I’m not sure how I got them should I be worried that the meps doctor will think they are self harm scars?

I'm in DEP, shipping out next week. I passed "mock" PT test on last DT&F, but my weight is slightly over the required one, I believe the required for my height (70 inches) is 194, and I am around 205. Will I have any issues at BMT? I am also planning to lose weight there.

I am prior active duty E and plan on attempting to commission through AFROTC. I have done a bunch of research on what it takes to become one, the different AFSC's, and the difference in responsibility. I've heard a lot about how good officers are ones who care for their people and get them the things they need in order to complete the mission. I've also heard that when officers screw up it's a much bigger deal.

What's an example of a common mistake that officers have these days? What are examples of the punishments for these mistakes? How can it be avoided?

I understand I may be putting the cart before the horse because I haven't even started ROTC yet, but I'd like to get a better feel for what I'm getting into.

I am applying to the Air Force with a closed misdemeanor shoplifting charge (Maryland $100-$1500, no jail/fines) which makes it a Category 3 Serious Misdemeanor. I also have a past mental health history requiring a medical waiver.

My recruiter told me that if my waivers require approval, the command will force me to sign a 6-year contract and pick from their priority job list, or I can't join.

Is this a strict AFRS policy for dual waivers, or is it just a local squadron policy/recruiter leverage tactic? I really want a 4-year contract.

I know that your dream job is unlikely, I haven’t looked into all of them yet as I go to MEPs tmrw for my asvab and medical stuff to see what I qualify for, but I was just curious if finance jobs were hard to come by? I’d really like to go into a job dealing with finance as I’ll be going to college for it in the future, but don’t want to get my hopes up for it.

I used Redbox rx to be prescribed adhd meds, was not formally diagnosed but I beloved to have it since I felt restless. This was a few days ago. However I realized that I need a goal and something to work on and I probably don’t have adhd. However apparently meps can disqualify you for taking meds. I haven’t received mine yet so I haven’t taken them yet and I want to cancel my prescription. Would I be able to work something out with a recruiter? Thanks!!

I signed up. Today, my recruiter asked for my documents and sent me a code to take a PICAT test.

Problem is, virtual meeting is the day after tomorrow, and I have to have the test completed tonight or sometime tomorrow for them to process everything.

Where would I practice and what would I even study? Some practice exams with science aren’t leaving me too confident and I don’t want to bungle this, but I have such a short time frame, and I’m like 8 years far from high school and 3 from college

What would be the best resource to skim or practice? Not the answer sheet, obviously, since that’s not right, but whatever would give me the best idea of what I know and what I should peruse before testing

So my trainee is 2A934 Heavy Aircraft Avionics and the choice of base that you are assigned to completely depends on what aircraft they train you on. How do they determine which aircraft becomes your specialty and at what point are you “locked in” to that aircraft? Can you switch aircrafts over your career or is each aircraft so unique that it becomes difficult to learn a new one? An overseas assignment would be the goal or Hawaii/Alaska so it appears that Hercules is the best option. Any experience or advice to make that happen?

Hey everyone.

I’m a 29 year old with a wife and 2 kids.
I’m hoping to join the space force or Air Force to get a job as an intelligence analyst or cyber security personnel. Just taking the in office practice (I believe it was 25 questions) and I got an 89 overall score

I looked at my college transcript and realized that I actually have 122 quarter credits. My understanding is that I would need 180 quarter credits to commission as an officer.

I read that BMT and Tech school depending on the job, can provide you with 40-60 college credits.

Just adding things up here and it looks like I’ll be at that 180 credit mark or not far from it at all. My thinking here is I might be a single quarter of college credits away from polishing off the bachelors degree requirements.

My main questions:

- Is there a better path than enlistment>tech school > quarter of college > dropping a packet within the first year of enlistment

- Should I avoid taking an enlistment bonus that might lock me into completing a portion of my initial enlistment before dropping a packet

- Are there alternatives to enlisting to get those credits, is there some sort of college program I can enter that lets me do BMT and tech school without the enlistment commitment in order to drop into the commission program right away? The cleaner the entry into OCS the better

- I believe once I’ve enlisted and completed tech school, the credits from my college and tech school can be compiled and dropped into a packet at AMU, which then can be finished into a bachelors.

Caveats: With the economy as it is, I can’t simply enter into college on my own before hand raw-dog unless it’s through some sort of military program. Wife and kids to feed, and I’m at the end of my funds and exhausted income opportunities.

I got booked for General aptitude and I’m feeling really unsure because I really want special missions, aviator, fire protection or any other flightline job like load master etc I got good scores and qualify for all them am I cooked or have other people got in any of the jobs I just listed through open general I got a 70 G ik I’m probably cooked though still thought I’d ask

I’ve been texting and emailing my recruiter but he hasn’t responded to me. I submitted 2 of my waivers to him and he said he would look at them after he got back from vacation and after he got back I’ve been texting and emailing him and nothing. Does anyone know what I should do?

Recruiter just sent me this message about an opening for munitions systems leaving next Tuesday. I really want to go but I don’t know about the job mannnnnn. My main thing is civilian world transferability. What could I do when I get out? Which certs or degrees would be good to pair with while in for a career transition? IM STUCK HELP.

I finally got a job and will leave October 20, I was wondering any experiences or thoughts on job and really what to expect. Where id be stationed or tech school? I did hear it is very stressful so I guess I'll see about that. Thank you for any insight

Hi everyone! Hope everyone’s day is going well!~

I just got out of a doctor’s appointment and mentioned that I’ve been experiencing migraines. My doctor prescribed me sumatriptan to take when they occur.

I’m currently planning to enlist in the Air Force around February 2028, so I’m worried that having migraines and a prescription for sumatriptan on my medical record could disqualify me. I’ve heard that medical waivers are possible, but I also know there’s no guarantee that a waiver will be approved.

Has anyone gone through something similar with migraines or sumatriptan? If so, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience with MEPS, the waiver process, and whether you were ultimately able to enlist.

I was wondering what does lead into for civilian life? As well I just wanna know what degree and certification would I need to get? Anything else I need to know and prepare for? How can I make the most out of it too?
