Other [Help] Redmi Note 10 Pro Max touchscreen completely dead, phone is locked after restart. How can I recover my data?

I have an old Redmi Note 10 Pro Max and I'm trying to recover the data from it before deciding whether to replace the phone.

The problem is that the display works perfectly, but the touchscreen has completely stopped responding.

Some details:

  • The phone boots normally.
  • The display looks completely normal, with no visible cracks, lines, or black spots.
  • Volume/power buttons work.
  • Calls and notifications still come through.
  • Fingerprint/face unlock worked before I restarted it.
  • Initially, when the touchscreen stopped responding, a forced restart would sometimes bring it back.
  • At one point I removed the phone case, restarted it, and the touchscreen worked again for a while before dying.
  • Eventually I restarted it again and the touchscreen remained completely dead.

The phone is now locked because it was restarted, so it requires the PIN before fingerprint/face unlock can be used again. Obviously I can't enter the PIN because the touchscreen doesn't work.

I tried connecting it to my laptop through Phone Link, but that doesn't give me access to the actual files because the phone is locked/offline.

The phone has now been checked by a repair shop. They said the phone cannot be fixed without replacing the display, which would cost around ₹3,000–₹4,000. I'd rather avoid spending that much on an old phone if possible, especially if there is another way to recover the data.

My main question: Is there ANY way to unlock/control the Redmi without the touchscreen and recover the internal storage?

I've heard about using USB OTG + a mouse, but I don't currently have an OTG adapter or mouse. Would that actually work on the lock screen after a reboot, allowing me to enter the PIN?

Are there any other options using just a laptop/USB-C cable, ADB, Mi PC Suite, Phone Link, etc.? I'm mainly interested in recovering the data without wiping the phone.

I absolutely do not want to factory reset or unlock the bootloader if either would erase the data.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Device Settings Question Music and bluetooth issue

I have a Samsung S26 Ultra and I have a problem that I can't seem to solve. Every time I get in my car and my phone connects via Bluetooth, Spotify automatically starts playing music. It's really annoying. If I used Deezer the last time, the same thing happens with Deezer instead. Is there really no way to prevent this from happening?

Looking For Suggestions How can I safely backup/export 39000 notes from Realme Notes?

I have an old Realme phone with around 39000 notes in the default Realme Notes app. They contain years of my diary/journal, personal memories, and very important information that I absolutely cannot afford to lose.

The phone still works and I can access all the notes normally.

When I connect the phone to my PC using a USB cable and browse the phone's internal storage, I cannot find any "Notes" folder or anything that seems to contain the notes.

Because there are almost 39,000 notes, manually copying them one by one isn't realistic.

Is there a safe way to:

Export all the notes in bulk?

Find/extract the Notes database from the phone?

Back them up to a PC or cloud?

Transfer them to another Android/Realme phone?

Preserve the original dates, organization, formatting, and attachments?

I'm particularly worried about doing something that could corrupt or delete the original data.

Has anyone successfully extracted or backed up a large number of notes from a Realme phone? Where are the notes actually stored, and what is the safest way to copy them?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. These notes are extremely important to me.

Device Settings Question Do u guys remember Samsung Sam? What if we actually brought her back?

Sorry my English is not very good

Do u guys remember Sam, the Samsung virtual assistant character ?

She was EVERYWHERE for a while ppl were making fanarts, memes, animations, talking abt her, imagining what she could become

And then she just disappeared

But fr, why not bring her back?

Samsung is still working on Bixby + AI, so why not give Sam another chance and make her an actual assistant?

Like:

actual AI conversations

her own voice + personality

interacting w/ ur Galaxy phone

animations/reactions on screen

helping w/ everyday stuff

basically being the face of Samsung's AI

Sam could just become the charac/personality behind the assistant.

I just wanna know if I'm the only one who still wants this

Would u guys want Sam to come back?

And if Samsung actually brought her back, would u want her to replace Bixby as the main assistant?

Maybe we should remind Samsung that ppl still remember her

Or develop the app Sam ?

What do u guys think?

Google Pixel or Samsung

After many years with a SamsungS9+ it is time for an update. I'm considering a Google Pixel over a Samsung. I've read reviews on both. My needs are simple; daily communication, internet searching, photos, and would like to listen to music or podcasts on daily walks. Would a Google Pix serve me for many years? Choice overload is real....Appreciate any advice. 😄

Looking For Suggestions Volume button busted. Worth getting fixed?

Hi all,

I recently had my S23+ sent in to repair some internal screen damage. I got it from a refurbishment website, so I had to ship it out for repairs and was on my old device for a week. It was a bit of a headache getting everything transfered from one phone to the other and back again.

Today is my first day using it post repair, and I notic3d that the button to increase the volume is not working. I've already tried restarting the device and removing the case, but still nothing. My question is: do you think this was caused by the screen repair and if so, is it worth the headache of getting it fixed? I do use the button a lot, but I can always swipe to adjust the volume if needed.

Device Settings Question Home Screen Question/Issue

Galaxy 25+ home screen reset it self (or got messed up in my pocket). In other words, the apps and folders I used to have on my home screen are no longer there and it doesn't look like another page was accidentally set to be the new home screen because a few folders are totally missing. Is there an easy way go revert to my old layout?

App Specific Question Accidentallt deleted my face group

In the gallery app on Samsung, there's a "people" section, where it divides and categorizes photos with people by face. You can combine face groups and delete them. It doesn't affect the actual photos. I wanted to combine two of mine, and accidentally deleted the main one. Now it just doesn't recognize it at all - i can't add it on the add more faces section, and when I scroll to the actual photos, it's like there's one person less. What do I do???

Need some advice around Android Tablets, please. I’m the parent of an autistic, non-verbal 4 year old.

Hi,

I’ve got a 4 year old, non verbal, autistic child. Growing up we’ve found that our son is able regulate himself using an Amazon Kids Fire tablet. Which has been great for watching his shows that he enjoys.

However, the more he’s used the tab over time, the more he’s aware of what various functions do. Now, we’ve been able to set a volume lock on tab which is great. However, there is not a function to cap the brightness to a certain level nor keep the blue shade filter on by default.

I’m fully aware that blue light can be detrimental to people and their sleep habits, hence my need to control it.

Is there an app I can download on the fire tab than would give me this control? Am I better off buying a standard Android tab without the Fire OS on it so I can manipulate it more to my liking? Is it even feasible?

Any help or advice you could provide would be most helpful.

Device Settings Question Is this normal?

I was setting up my ONLY device and when i reached the screen 'copy from another device' or something... where it gives two option android and iphone/ipad.

I didn't select anything but it automatically started showing me a qr code to scan from another device. And after like 2 sec it showed me a code to enter on other device.

Before i could even read the code it asked me to enter the "Pattern" of other device to connect. Like how is this possible without even entering the code?

Won't you gain access to someone else's data if you could have correctly guessed the pattern? Or if someone was not using Password/Pin at all?

I am currently staying at hostel so it could be that someone else got notification of device setup and accidentally clicked it but like how did it connect without scanning QR or entering the code?

App Specific Question Why is the bottom cut off on a lot of apps?

Including the one I'm using right now and also Facebook. It's like they were designed for a longer screen lengthways. Often the comment field is overlapped by the home back switch application buttons.

It's an aging phone (4-5 years) locked on Android 9.

My mothers phone is stucked/pushed in and so she can't turn on or off, any solution?

I have zero clue about phones. So here's the thing. I don't know how my mother managed to do it, but the on/off button is like pushed all the way in.. so you can't press it.. it's simply stuck.

I managed to swipe the screen a few times and was ablke to use the phone, but then once phone was off for a while and I swiped again.. nothing came on..

Is there a work around where even though power on/off button is pushed in/stuck, my mother can simply keep swiping the phone when she wants to use it?.. Hope this makes sense. I bought a new phone for her..100 bucks.. but i would love to return if i can get a work around....Hopefully, you guys can throw some ideas my way.

Thanks!

App Specific Question Can't believe it's gotten to this, but how do I get Google Maps on Android to stop showing me "US-version" place names? I don't live in the US and am not physically in the US.

You can probably guess which kind of place names I'm referring to, but no matter what it only shows me the names the US government decides. Everyone else around here still has normal names. There doesn't seem to be a corresponding setting neither in Android nor in Google Maps.

I am a US citizen, but do not live there and am not physically there. I can't imagine how Google would know my citizenship status anyway. Anyone know why my phone/account is being singled out here when it comes to this stuff?

Looking For Suggestions Triggering offline voice recording from headphones

I have bone conduction headphones (similar to aftershokz) that I use when walking/hiking and often use the button to trigger the personal assistant (Gemini) to take a note (Google Keep) or capture a task/reminder (Google Tasks). This works well when I have cell service but I often am in areas with intermittent or no service so this then wouldn't work

Currently, I just capture voice memos using my Google Pixel Recorder which automatically transcribes (even offline) or use Obsidian with the voice to text built in on the phone when offline. This however involves having to physically get my phone out of my pack and do manually which in most circumstances is ok but when it's really raining or I'm otherwise unable to access my phone it means I have to forego capturing my thought.

Which got me thinking... Surely there must be a way to remap a button on my headphones to automatically trigger a voice recording using the Pixel's offline recorder and then press the button again to end the recording.

Does anyone know of such a solution?

TIA
