Idk which specific one was the most addictive, but definitely something by Philip K Dick. The massive amount of amphetamines he used when he wrote those books really comes through in the writing.
There are just certain things I have read that stay with me, the wife || buying the mechanical flies, thus meaning imo the frog was also mechanical || just wrecked me a little bit
I would always start with getting a short story collection.
His short stories are imho really why he has such goat status. He wrote about 120 of them and a large portion of them are just conceptually genius to the highest degree. Either major ingenious plot twists or just the setting being so fantastic and inventive right from the start.
Its really were some other author will brood for years to just come up with just one story idea that good and then desperately build a novel out of it, and he instead will just pump them out like its nothing. You really can only explain it with his semi-psychotic gnosticism where he is obsessed with reality having these different layers and then sublimating that into authorship and thats how he could be such an unparralleled high concept story teller.
But yeah, point is, go for the short stories, they are just amazing!
