The Harry Potter series. When I first read it I couldn't stop. I fell in love with the story and the way it flowed was just so seemless and enjoyable for me.
I always thought I was a rather average speed reader but one semester I had to stay late after my courses finished bc I commuted to and fron campus with my sister, whose courses ran late into the night. During my waiting time, I went to the library and started harry potter. Finished the whole 7 books in a semester. It was marvelous.
I remember picking them up as a kid and while I loved the first two, it was Prisoner of Azkaban that got me completely and utterly into the series, I would give anything to feel the way I felt reading it for the first time again.
A few years ago I re-read the series, and since I had only read seven and eight once, and never watched the movies, it was really like reading the second half of the series for the first time again. It was amazing.
I was given the first two as a birthday gift, and I had never heard of them. I waited a few weeks to start, and then we had a heatwave and I was trapped in my parents bedroom with the only AC, and I started reading and I don't think I put them down. I was hooked, and did every midnight release party but the last one, because I was working at a summer camp and couldn't attend. I devoured the books when I got them. I would get my brother to take me to the release, and I'd sit up all night reading. I remember one time my Mom woke up to find me eating a sandwich and more than halfway through and she tried to make me go to bed, and I refused, lol.
