Fully hypothetical question I was discussing today with my wife, we didnt come to a conclusion.

Lets say I (28M) am outside with my hypothetical daughter, significant other is not with us and there are no gender neutral bathroom available at the hypothetical mall.

I am not sure if I feel comfortable taking my hypothetical daughter to men’s restroom, but I also assume some (possibly also me) will be uncomfortable me taking her to women’s restrooms. Is there a Swiss default? How do you handle or what would you do?

Grüezi & salü. I've just moved into my own apartment in Switzerland. I am new to this lovely country and I was a bit surprised that I need to install my own ceiling lights. In theory it sounds simple enough (I found the box with electric switches for my apartment). But from my research these two existing light fittings (at least the one with four wires) seem a bit more rudimentary than usual. Can anyone here provide some perspective? I understand that it is legal to ask people about sparing a moment, a signature or some help.

But why is it always in such bottlenecked places? Where people are clearly busy?

I wanna run my errands at the postal office without being bothered, or go to the grocery store in peace. Can't leave a train station without having to ignore someone or give the "no thank you" time and time again.

This is probably a big part of the reason why I don't care about supporting good causes anymore, cause there is this intervalled annoyance from all kinds of groups.

Ich habe bereits einen Multicheck gemacht, aber mein Ergebnis war leider ziemlich schlecht. Deshalb möchte ich den Multicheck in ungefähr 3–4 Wochen ein zweites Mal machen, um mein Ergebnis deutlich zu verbessern.

Jetzt frage ich mich, ob es meine Chancen bei Lehrbetrieben reduzieren könnte, wenn sie sehen, dass ich den Multicheck bereits einmal gemacht habe und jetzt einen zweiten Versuch brauche.

Besonders interessiert mich das bei Unternehmen, bei denen das Unternehmen den Multicheck als Teil des Bewerbungsprozesses übernimmt. Dort bewirbt man sich zuerst und macht danach den Multicheck, wenn man in die nächste Runde kommt.

Meine Familie hat den ersten Multicheck selbst bezahlt und plant, auch den zweiten selbst zu bezahlen.

Hat jemand Erfahrung damit, wie Lehrbetriebe mit einem zweiten Multicheck-Versuch umgehen? Wird hauptsächlich das beste bzw. aktuellste Ergebnis angeschaut, oder kann es negativ wirken, wenn man den Test zweimal gemacht hat?

I own my apartment, but we have a Verwaltung who sent all owners an email today stating that shoe storage cannot be placed outside the apartment. They state that it would be a hindrance for rescue operations in case of a fire but isn’t it more of a hindrance if several pairs of shoes are placed outside? Is this legally enforced? Can the home owners agree to use the hallway to place shoe storage outside?

Contrary to recent reviews, our room had no working AC, no consistent WiFi, and a toilet that wouldn't flush.
Staff treatment of my wife was noticeably cold and dismissive.

Staff entered our room twice after 9 PM attempting to fix the AC, WiFi, and Chromecast. The night manager acknowledged these issues to us directly, but the next morning the hotel denied any problems existed or claimed they had been fixed. They were not.

With no AC, we had to open the windows, and noise from the old town streets kept us up all night. We checked out at 6 AM and slept a few hours at Geneva Airport instead.

The hotel has offered no compensation or apology.
Management has stopped responding to calls and emails and told us our expectations were simply "too high." For a hotel at this price point, that's remarkable.

Two questions for anyone familiar with Switzerland:

1. What compensation are we realistically entitled to?
2. Is there a consumer protection agency in Geneva we should contact?

In the meantime: avoid Hôtel Les Armures. The Ritz-Carlton Geneva is nearby and worth the difference from our earlier stay in Geneva.

Hi everyone! I’d really appreciate some advice from people familiar with renting in Switzerland.
My mother found an apartment in the Basel area. She visited the apartment, met and spoke with the person who claimed to be the owner, and was told that she had been selected for the apartment. They then told her to come the next day to sign the contract.
However, when she went to sign, several things happened that made us uncomfortable, so she decided not to sign or transfer any money.
These were the red flags:
When she arrived to sign, they didn’t show her the apartment again.
Instead of signing at the apartment or in an office, they wanted her to sign the contract inside a car.
The rental deposit (Mietkaution) was supposed to be transferred to a Mietkautionskonto that was not in my mother’s name.
My mother wanted to go to the bank the following day to open a Mietkautionskonto in her own name, but they told her she had to sign and transfer the money that same day.
They pressured her by saying that there were other interested people and that she had to trust them.
She contacted a real estate agency separately, and they advised her that the Mietkautionskonto should be in her name and told her not to sign otherwise.
She therefore decided to walk away.
Does this sound like a rental scam, or could there be a legitimate explanation for these things in Switzerland?
We don’t want to accuse anyone without evidence, but the situation felt very strange. We’d really appreciate hearing from people who have experience renting in Switzerland and can tell us whether this is normal or not.

Hey there, what happens when you go back on RAV in a short period of time? I was on RAV in spring, then found a job but they are saying I’m underperforming so I feel they are preparing the HR docs…

Will RAV take their time again before they will start paying again or will I get paid from the next payment cycle (considering all documents have been submitted)?

Anyone been in this situation lately? Anything else I should be aware of?

Yesterday night someone entered my car which is in Tiefgarage and stole a few not-so-worthy items. Although this was totally my fault (I forgot to lock the car…) I think I got way too comfortable in Swiss environment and let my guard down. I talked to police and the management, my plan is now to report officially to police in the next days such that maybe they can check the video recording of in/out of the garage entrance. The cameras are not positioned on my parking space so I am pretty confident nothing will come up but I feel like it is a duty I have to take care of.

I am quite shocked that this happened and I was wondering since there is not really much video surveillance for parking, what stops a burglar to break in multiple cars (like properly, breaking the window etc.). Now I locked my car but to be fair, not sure what I can even do if they completely break in my car by smashing the window and steal by chance more valuable possession.

My husband and I will be traveling to Europe in mid Nov (around Nov 10). We will have a day and a half in Zurich and a day and a half in Lucerne. We plan on going to Uetliberg while we are in Zurich.

I’m much more interested in finding something that is actually meaningful to people who live here something you notice because you live in the city, not because it shows up in a tourist guide or google search.
