Seeking Recommendation: Food Best pizza place in Astoria?

I’ve tried a lot, but I’m looking for something legendary.

I’ve tried Pronto, Albas, Retro, pizza factory, bellucis, Rosario’s, they were decent. My favorite being pronto.

Any suggestions?

Hello lovely folks!

Please also enjoy some production photos from our final dress rehearsal!

Rant 12-15 Broadway Management

About a month ago, me and my wife noticed a mouse run through our apartment. We immediately notified the building and were told "best we can do is give you traps"

I called 311 to notify them of the situation and only after hearing from 311 did the building agree to send an exterminator.

The exterminator identified substantial mouse droppings, a nest and multiple holes. Said "this should be treated as an emergency and that we need a coordinated effort with the building to catch the mouse and patch the holes"

The building has straight up refused to patch the holes and has decided to stop answering my emails and calls. This is against the law (local law 55).

This is all even more disturbing as we have a baby girl at home. The building was already caught stealing millions of dollars from its tenants a few years back so I guess this is just par for the course.

Be warned If looking to rent or buy here.

General Discussion Motorcycle owners - heads up

Saw a dude on my walk home checking parked bikes for locks. By ditmars/73 St.

Chubby Spanish guy in his mid 30s wearing all black and a German style half helmet. He himself was on a motorcycle or scooter.

While I was following him, he started peering into cars. As I approached he must’ve gotten spooked and took off.

Called the cops and they were responsive. They said they’ll keep a lookout. And that they’ve had a lot of stolen scooter/motorcycle calls recently.

Block near Othellos- saw a tall slim mixed guy with shaved head, black shirt, black pants with adidas stripes trying to get into an ice cream truck and checking surrounding cars and trash. He's on a blue Citi bike. Probably going to try another block.

Friendship Astoria Clubs / Girl Friends?

Hi everyone,

26F here looking for more girl friends in the area! Looking for people who love fitness and the arts and trying great food together! Also open to gym buddies at NYSC. 😊 It has been difficult finding a sober community outside of traditional support programs and figured I’d try here — either sober, health conscious, or love the arts and creating art or all the above! If anyone has recs for groups to join (ie, running groups), I’m open to that as well.

Question What app does the rat building in astoria use for facial recognition?

I lost my fob a few months ago, I've reached out to my landlord and ive not heard back, I emailed the person who handles these things and also not heard back. Just ran into the office person and they wouldn't give me a new one without a money order but didnt wrote down who to send it to and im skeptical they'll actually show tomorrow as they're nevere there or answer emails.

Can anyone tell me the app name so I can try and download it and maybe reach out that way or show my lease to the app/sign up?

Even FedEx and delivery drivers have their faces recognized yet I pay rent and have had to wait outside for someone to let me in.

Thanks

Seeking Recommendation: Other Greetings to my Astoria neighbors,

Can somebody please recommend an affordable & reliable tailor? I need to hem a few pairs of pants and one dress. The guy I have used in the past just doesn’t cut it anymore. I always have to go back for corrections and I’m tired of it because he’s also increased his prices and unfortunately, the work does not reflect the price point.

Thank you in advance.

Review Y'all waiting in the heat for Little Flower when First Cup Cafe is RIGHT THERE

I went to First Cup Cafe on 36th Ave for the first time. Good latte, and they had so many specialty flavors. The actual place was really cute, decorated well, and the food was also really good with nice savory options.

I had a nice meal and latte, and then a block over, there's a line out the door for Little Flower (as usual), the hottest club in Astoria.

Y'all make it out to First Cup Cafe, give them some love.

General Discussion What do you think of my Income to housing cost

I make $2920/mo after taxes that I do not get back. My rent is currently $1275. What do you guys think about this? How do/would you feel about this scenario living in Astoria?

edit: I have about $1000 left over after non-negotiable bills are paid

edit: the rent is for a room not the whole apt

Question Can someone teach me to parallel park?

Hey neighbors! I recently moved to Astoria and have my car. I have had no luck with a parking spot. 100% serious request — can any skilled driver teach me to parallel park? I will buy you a drink in return! I drive a Subaru Forester. THANK YOU!!!

Events/Promotion Do you have questions or opinions about mortality you’d like to explore? Do you have thoughts about grief you want to share? Are you uninvited from parties because you’re obsessed with talking about morbid topics like dying? Death Cafe may be the place for you!

Astoria Death Cafe is having its next meetup Sunday August 20th! For those who don’t know, this is an open forum and group discussion for people interested in having a chat about death, mortality, grief, spirituality, and anything else that might come up around these topics. This is not a grief support group - although that topic comes up a lot. It’s a (believe it or not!) fun time and all are welcome! Come meet your neighbors :)

RSVP link below, ig is @nycdeathcafe. DM with any questions!

General Discussion Shocking shrinkflation at Key Food

I do most of my grocery shopping at the Key Food on 30 Ave and 33 st. I went there yesterday and was shocked. Usually, when manufacturers shrink the product, it's slightly. But when I went to the store yesterday -- the first thing I noticed was single serving toilet paper, then paper towels only about one quarter the size of a regular role, then single serving condensed soup. I bought some rice in a box that was smaller than usual, but the real shock came when I opened it. It was less than a quarter full.

Edit: I made some changes to my original post. Several people commented that the problem is with the manufacturers, not with Key Food. I already know that, but my post might have been unclear about that, so I revised.
