I've been listening to the Daniel Faust series by Craig Schaefer in publication order and am currently on book 7, Double or Nothing. I am accessing the books through the audible.com site and listening through the sites web player. I have noticed a minor issue in all of the books where, as an example, the narrator announces the chapter as 'chapter 28', but the web player shows the chapter as 29, or 'chapter 6' but the web player shows chapter 7. Has anyone else noticed this issue on this series or any other series?

I pre-ordered the book and expected to be able to download it today. But it's now grayed out..Audible say anything it?

I wasn't listening to my audiobook on my account for a while because I had other things to do for a couple days manly and for some reason I still have my streak on I'm currently at 27 weeks it's a new record but still just want to know what actually happened if you guys know I didn't have any devices on that account so that might have been a reason I don't know I did also listen to audiobooks on my dad account on my phone so that might be a contributor but that's all I know

I like Jane Austen or similar books with good narration to fall asleep to. In addition to Austen herself, I found a great author called Elizabeth Aston and later Elizabeth Edmondson. I think her latter books fell under “cozy mystery.” Basically I want to be assured the text and the voice will be calming, mildly entertaining, and not get too dramatic, tragic, or violent. I also recently listed to Enchanted April and that was ok. Curious if anyone gets the vibe I’m going for and has suggestions.

I will say I absolutely adored Edmondson’s books set around WW2 and in France, Italy, and the UK. She wove in so much social history and always featured plucky, unconventional female leads. Wish she were alive to write more!

Audible previews are often not helpful. Introductions etc and sometimes you never hear the actual narrator! So here are some tips to ensure you like the narrator before buying an audiobook:

The youtube channel ‘Google Play Books’ has a huge library of long audiobook samples. Books I’m looking to get often have a video here, with same narrator / content as the audible version. The samples are usually at least 15 minutes, but often much longer.

If you have Spotify, there is a huge library of audiobooks included, and you’re allowed 15 hours of audiobook listening per month. The book you want to buy is probably available in full on Spotify. I especially like how I can just jump to a section in the middle of the book.

Click on the narrator’s name on Audible; this takes you to a list of all books narrated by them. You can listen to a variety of samples of the author reading other books, which gives a better sense of the narrators style.

Using a public library app like Libby, Hoopla etc allows you to rent audiobooks. You can use this to be sure you like an audiobook, before adding it to your wishlist, so you’ll know you like it when it goes on sale!

I had Audible before Amazon bought them, and the email I used was an Apple email that ended me.com (Apple has discontinued these and says they should be forwarding to me, but they are not (I have sent myself a test).

I logged into the account a few days ago and updated my address - big mistake. It triggered a hold on the account. After going back-and-forth between Amazon and Audible support about 10 times, they told me they submitted an account recovery form, and I would hear back in 1-2 days ... it's been 4 days.

Does anyone have experience getting Audible to dig deeper into their records for account recovery? or to get to the Amazon account recovery form without logging in with the email?

Can anyone tell me why there are two different versions of what appears to be this same book? Different release dates but same length and title so I am not sure?? One has less reviews than the other as well and different prices...

After installing the latest update yesterday evening, my app stops playing every few minutes.
This has never happened to me before, but I suspect the cause lies in the update.

I would love to know if other Redditors are having this issue too.

I’m looking to get a pair of headphones for swimming laps which means I need to download the files and load them onto the headphones themselves (apparently water stops a Bluetooth signal).

I’ve seen suggestions for Libation and openaudible and a few others but the constant mention of malware makes me cautious. Can anytime recommend a good system?

So recently trying to buy a few titles - mostly fantasy stuff like Royal Assassin and A Storm of Swords - and Audible is giving me this response. I'm quite sure it's wrong, as I own others in the same series (Assassin's Apprentice and a Clash of Kings, for instance).

Also - I'm in the UK! Hardly a niche market. Is this a new policy? Have they lost a publisher? Or is there somehow something wrong with my account? I recently bought three credits to spend and I'm kinda frustrated that most things I want aren't availible.

one good thing of Wondery acquired by audible is that some member podcasts are available in audible now, for example Dr death that I just re-listened. But some episodes still require a credit to listen to but some are not for the same podcast? Is this a tech glitch or what

I know my password, I have the same email but I am unable to login due to the required two step verification being sent to my old mobile number.

I am unable to reset my mobile number on the app and am directed to sign in to the Audible site....except I can't sign in without getting past two step verification.

Next option is to request the two step verification to be reset through my Amazaon account. I can't remember my Amazon password and am unable to reset my Amazon password because the fking two step verification gets sent to my old number.

OFC there isn't any email or number I can call so what am I supposed to do??????

I'm new to this, I've always bought physical media and audiobooks on CDs. But some books that I'd like are digital-only and some are even Audible exclusives.

I've heard some horrible things about Audible and digital media in general where your purchases don't mean you OWN them but rather that you're renting licenses which can then be revoked and your audiobooks deleted. T_T I hate that so much.

I'd really like to keep my books and I've sort of gone down a rabbit hole that I don't fully understand as someone who's not so tech-savvy. Would love to hear if anyone's in the same boat has done this before...backing up the books, and what you did.

EDIT: Thank you very much everyone for all of your help. It took me all day and all evening to backup my books but I've finally done it and the peace of mind of not losing the books I purchased is totally worth it.

I need to give full credit to whoever made that Libation program because even though it was initially very intimidating to someone like myself - seeing all the different settings and things that may as well have been written in Chinese to me with all the computer-terms and stuff, it was all actually very intuitive and things in there are mostly explained.

I appreciate that so much, because I've used things before where I had to go and look up word for word what specific things mean and the program just assumes the user already "know things." But this one was so pleasant to use and it all looks so nice too, I can't believe it's free!

I've seen that there will be a German edition. Any chance a Japanese one is planned as well? I have the originals, but I'd love to repeat the experience with the full-cast JP version.
