I mainly bought this game to drive the 90s F1 cars but i just sucked at driving those and it wasnt fun so i tried racing some other eras of F1 and fell in love with the 70s cars.

I like the TV camera, but sometimes I feel like it zooms in too much on my car and I can't see everything in detail. Having a helicopter camera on at all times would be really, really nice, like the one in ACC.

Hello all!

Just wondering how PMR stacks up against AMS2?

I'm playing on PC with a Logitech G923 (looking to upgrade to Moza R3 or R5 soon)

Pretty new to PC sim racing, dabbling in Assetto Corsa 1 and RaceRoom at the moment, and I like the feel of those sims!

Most of my experience has been on GT7 on PS5 but looking to move away from that.

I would just like a racing game with a diverse lineup of vehicles (new and old), racing classes, tracks, good AI for single player, good multi-player lobbies (not my forte but I'd like the option) and of course good graphics and physics. I want the sense of speed, grip, and immersion to be there ofc.

Both PMR and AMS2 are $40 and have DLC so I'd like to pick between the two as my go to sim for all kinds of pro racing.

I say this because ACC, AC Rally, LMU, RF2 are all hyper focused on 1 kind of racing and AC and AC Evo are sandboxes essentially. (All of which are good and I have gotten into more recently)

So if you could be honest and help me narrow down the pros and cons of each sim, I'd appreciate it 😄

Hey, I'm fairly new at simracing and using an entry wheel and pedals (G920). Just modded the pedals with some improved springs and took off the rubber part of it. I like the feel now, much better than default.

Driving assists were authentic (ABS and TC only on cars with it). However, I was locking up my tires easily using F1 cars, searched here and saw all discussions about braking pressure in tuning screen, brake sens at settings and such. Tested many option and just found that putting ABS on low assist in settings make the game more fun, because I'm not locking up tires at all.

But now I'm in a dilemma: this will give me bad braking habits, isn't? Should I put it back to authentic to learn more how to brake or G920 pedals are bad and I can't do much about it without upgrading?

I'm continuing my hacked up method of saving my own data in offline practice. Technically there is no ability to save practice session replays but I cheat the system by creating a custom offline race with 0 opponents and a 20 minute time limit (I'm so smart lol).

So after saving the replay, I see no option to actually view it in game. Is this possible? If not, how do I view the saved files since they are not in video format?

I want to start by saying this game is absolutely perfect for me. As a busy man, the ease of setting up championships and quick races keeps this little hobby of mine afloat.

I watched project cars 2 videos and noticed how well refined the HUD is.

Ams2 hud is like miles away behind in terms of quality. It's very janky and the legacy ones are a bit "cartoonish" for my taste.

I understand that it could be a game engine limitation. But it would be best for the devs to give it another shot at designing it.

But despite having this UI, this is the only sim that I bought every dlc available and a very fantastic product.

For the meantime, I use race lab and its been fine for now.

Just got AMS2 running with DLSS5 and it's quite insane what it does. It does run into some artifacts so I maybe wouldn't want to race full length races with it, but for a bit of eyecandy, videos and screenshots it definitely does it's thing great.

Fantastic sound, great handling, and fun racing. Having an absolute blast driving these beasts around all over the world. Highly recommend if you haven’t given these cars a go

I really hope I'm just overlooking something. I don't play online and my gaming PC is usually disconnected from the internet. I think I read somewhere that the game doesn't save anything if you're offline. That's just stupid. I have about 30 hours into the game and I don't have one time that has saved. I can't load any ghosts or see any replays after I exit the session. Why the hell is it like this?

Hello! GT7 Player here getting into the more PC based sim racing sphere of things! :)

I have a Logitech G923 and a gaming laptop capable of running AMS2! I've looked around for sims with good variety of cars to drive as well as physics, and AMS2 seems to be a really good one, especially for classic F1 and European GT cars, which I love.

I haven't bought the game yet, so I was wondering if there was any advice I could get from veterans of this game, particularly since my only experience is with GT7

How different are the physics? How will I need to adjust my driving technique?

Is the G923 enough or do I need a DD wheel?

If so, which one?

Is all the DLC worth getting on sale?

How is the online multi-player in terms of fair, clean racing?

How does AMS2 stack up to Assetto Corsa, LMU, RF2, and RaceRoom?

Just those questions and any other bits and bobs of advice would be great, and I'd appreciate it!

Was playing with anti-aliasing settings recently. I run it on a low-mid box with rtx2060 in 1080p 60fps, using Steam in-built FPS counter. On 27" 1080p is very grainy, so AA is a must.

SSAA+TAA looked just perfect, better than any other sim (even ACE). I consider LMU to be the gold standard in graphics, but only in daylight, nightime car reflections in LMU are notoriously poor. When nighttime Long Beach in AMS2 was absolutely beautiful, and still showing stable 60fps. Then I noticed some weird sluggishness, that surely was not there before.

After many game restarts it became clear, that setting the number of pre-rendered frames to 1 results in 40fps. When the same AA settings with 2 pre-rendered frames show 60fps (unusually sluggish ones). Increasing the number of pre-rendered frames should make FPS lower, not higher. Keeping it on 1 I learned that this PC only can reach stable 60 fps (Long Beach at night is a good benchmark) only with post-processing AA. Any other AA resulted in 45fps or lower (all this with high-mid other settings that I wanted to keep).

So learned that 2 pre-rendered frames just fools the Steam fps counter (I guess it just reuses old frames), making it run smoothly (no abrupt stuttering), but way slower than expected. And post-processing AA still looks pretty good, just not as perfect as SSAA+TAA.

I tweaked the settings of DLSS5 and checked out different weathers to see where AMS2 improves the most with DLSS5. This video showcases the Nordschleife in Cloudy weather which get's an impressive boost in the visuals Make sure to watch the video in 4k for the least YT compression.

Is the AI for the 2005 GT cars really hard or do I just suck? High power & high down force sequential cars aren't usually my forte, but I like these cars. However, I have to turn the AI difficulty down. Usually (depending on mod) I'm between 100-110 difficulty with Reiza cars. But at 100 I'm mid-pack with the 05 GT cars.

My lines are good, my setup seems good BUT the proof is in the stop watch so maybe my setups suck? Or is the AI just really difficult?
