Heeey guys!

I recently got a Bengal girl named Powder (PowPow), and she’s almost 4 months old. I’m a first-time Bengal owner, so I’m mostly looking for a general timeline of how the settling-in/bonding process usually goes and whether I’m doing things right so far.

It’s been 3 days since I brought her home, and for now I’ve kept her in my bedroom so she has a smaller, safe space to get comfortable in.

So far, she:

- Explores the room a little bit
- Eats some of the dry food I leave out
- Drinks from her water fountain
- Uses the litter box (she started using it more once I moved it closer to where she spends most of her time — it was originally in the bathroom)
- Comes out to play when she hears her wand toy
- Comes out for treats/wet food

When I first brought her home, I carried her over to show her where the litter box was. She seems okay with being held, but sometimes tries to get away, so I’ve been avoiding picking her up unless I need to because I don’t want to force anything.

The main thing is that she spends most of her time hiding under my bed. She’ll happily come out when I start moving her wand toy around and will play with me, or when I offer her a treat. But outside of that, she usually stays under the bed.

One thing I’ve noticed, though, is that she seems to stay out a lot more when the lights are off. Sometimes I can hear her moving around, jumping on things, or exploring the room in the dark. When that happens, I usually just leave her alone because I don’t want her to feel like the second she comes out of hiding I’m going to approach her. I’m assuming she just feels safer exploring when she thinks she isn’t being watched.

I’ve also been trying to let her approach me at her own pace. If I reach my hand out for her to sniff, she’ll either back away and hide or sniff it and then go back under the bed. She lets me pet her while she’s eating a treat or wet food, but otherwise she doesn’t seek out pets or physical contact yet. She also hasn’t really made any noises/meowed at me.

I’m trying to make the room feel like her safe space and teach her that I’m safe to be around without pushing her too much. I play with her every morning before I leave for work, and again when I’m home, and I’m trying to keep her feeding/play schedule fairly consistent so things feel predictable for her.

My main question is: how long should I keep things like this before I start changing anything?

Should I just continue letting PowPow hide under the bed and come out whenever she feels comfortable, or at some point should I start encouraging her to spend more time outside of her hiding spot? And roughly how long did it take your Bengals/kittens to start voluntarily approaching you for pets, cuddles, or attention?

I know 3 days is still very early, so I’m not expecting her to suddenly become cuddly overnight I just want to make sure I’m giving her enough space without accidentally reinforcing hiding as her permanent routine.

Any advice or stories about how your Bengals behaved during their first few days/weeks at home would be really appreciated!

We brought our Bengal boy home yesterday. This is him less than 24 hours at home!

He is so sweet, and adjusting so well.

He’s gone potty twice in his carrier, instead of the litter box, but other than that he’s been perfect.

Very vocal too :)

Help "Natural" Food ??

Oh my !! I am in the process of eliminating foods / ingredients bcuz we believe our girl Misha has some kind of food allergy. She got another steroid shot a few weeks ago and this time it only seemed to stop her excessive licking for 2 weeks, where before the she got relief for much longer.

I was originally looking to replace her canned wet food bcuz for dry we were giving her Royal Canin which, I thought was supposed to be one of the best brands for cats. Then I just happen to be reading the ingredients and I was shocked !! The whole first paragraph of ingredients is all filler junk that I bet something there is causing her itching. It's corn meal, wheat, chicken meal, and other junk that's in this food. I just couldn't believe it.

So now i'm on the hunt for both wet & dry. Ugggh. Not sure why i'm posting, I guess just aggrevated and venting.

What I can say is, she does go outside, and is an incredible hunter. She loves hunting baby rabbits, then after murdering them, she goes for the organs 🤮 Yet, I buy her those air dried 2 ingredient rabbit morsel treats and sometimes she'll eat them all, sometimes a few, and sometimes turn her nose up and walk away..... omg she is SO SO fussy !!! I am at my witts end and about ready to start ripping my own hair out.

Help Experiences with IBD?

I have a 7 year old bengal who's been having persistent GI issues. When I first adopted him he had some diarrhea here and there but nothing major. I got him onto a GI-friendly food.

In the last year or so he's been vomiting almost every day with occasional diarrhea. His appetite is still good.

He had a blood test and ultrasound and they didn't find anything overly alarming so the diagnosis is "strong suspicion of IBD."

For the last month I've had him on a novel protein diet (rabbit) which seems to have helped slightly. It's really hard to tell because there are so many ups and downs and I know it can take months to fully adjust to a new food.

I'm not looking for medical advice but wondering if anyone has a cat that's been diagnosed with IBD and if you were able to control it with diet? Would love to hear your experience.

Help 4 months of trying to introduce our Bengal to our senior cat and we’re starting to lose hope

Back in May, we adopted a 5-year-old male Bengal. We already had our almost 13-year-old European Shorthair female, and obviously we knew that introducing two cats could take time.
But we’re now 4 months in, and honestly… we’re starting to wonder if this is ever going to work.
We’ve been working with a cat behaviorist from the beginning and have been following her advice pretty religiously. We’ve done the whole process: complete separation, swapping rooms, scent swapping, feeding on opposite sides of the door, and eventually barrier introductions. We have a frame with chicken wire in the doorway, so they can see each other but can’t physically get to one another.
The problem is that whenever we’ve tried to take the next step and remove the barrier, the Bengal attacks our older cat. And I don’t mean a little hissing or a quick swat, the aggression is really intense and brutal. We’ve had to intervene because we’re genuinely afraid that she could get seriously hurt.
Our older girl is obviously not thrilled about any of this, but she mostly wants to be left alone. The Bengal, on the other hand, seems incredibly focused on her.
And we’re starting to see what I think is frustration building up in him as well. He’s a very demanding, high-energy cat, and we’re doing our best to meet his needs: lots of play, enrichment, interaction, etc. But lately he’s started redirecting some of that frustration towards me too. I’ve had him attack me when I’ve gone into his room to feed him, play with him, or just spend some time with him and try to build a relationship.
That part honestly breaks my heart a little.
This is also his second rehoming - both for the same reason. His previous guardians gave him up after they became pregnant, so we really, really want to give this guy a stable home and not make him go through another major change.
We knew Bengals could be challenging. We knew introductions could take weeks or even months. But after 4 months of following professional advice and being incredibly careful, we’re starting to feel completely stuck.
Has anyone here been through something similar? Especially with a Bengal, but honestly any experience with a cat who was extremely aggressive towards another cat would be helpful.
Did you eventually manage to make it work? Did something finally “click”? Or did you eventually have to accept that the cats simply couldn’t live together?
At this point, I would genuinely love to hear both the success stories and the stories where it didn’t work out. We’re trying to figure out whether we should keep pushing forward, change our approach, or start considering that living together may simply not be realistic for these two.
Thanks in advance to anyone willing to share their experience.

Help Bengal missing

Post image

Our Bengal Kai is missing. We desperately need advice
Our Bengal, Kai, has gone missing. He is extremely fearful and has only ever been outside on a leash. He is even scared of the front door.
We were away, so a family member came to stay at our apartment and take care of him. When she arrived, Kai hid in a storage box, which is completely normal for him around unfamiliar people. He stayed hidden and didn’t come out to eat. The next day, when we asked her to check on him, he was no longer there. She searched the entire apartment several times but couldn’t find him anywhere.
We are considering every possibility. Maybe he somehow escaped through a window, even though he has never done this before, or maybe someone found him outside and took him in.
For those with experience with Bengals, how do they behave when lost and frightened? Would he likely stay hidden close to home, could he travel far, or could someone have taken him?
Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated. We just want to bring Kai home safely.

Bengal with other pets 3 cats not getting along.

I have 3 cats not getting along now. It’s a mess. All in separate rooms.😭
Brought a beautiful rescue bengal home.(female) tried to slowly introduce her to my two other female residents cats … that have been together last 4 year. Have had both since kittens… a calico and the sweetest Bombay (that I bottle fed) .
The calico and bengal went for it really bad.. one slipped out of our bedroom through the screen door, we installed from Lowe’s & drilled holes into our door frame. They had the worst fight Ive ever seen or heard, hair flying, screaming all if it, my husband and I … had to break it up.. as they were going for each other throats. They were not going to stop, until one was dead and I’m not over exhausting. My bengal ran outside, tried to get her back .. food out on porch .. she was their through the window one day and my calico girl (one that got in the awful fight with her, got really weird after seeing her) she started looking like she was going to pounce and attack our Bombay cat. Puffed up tail, eyes dilated and the bad signs… I saw it coming… since I study cat body language. Anyways, They’ve lived peacefully together for years… no problems. The vet said, it’s called redirected aggression. She attacked our black Bombay, thankfully she smartly ran away from her into our room and dodged the calico being psycho. Got the bengal back after 2 weeks outside, she got hit by car & but thank God, she had no broken bones or organs… have had to heal her back to health with the road rash though.
She’s been in her own bedroom, spoiled with everything she needs. Just found out and realized she has some weird mite infestation, the whole room is itchy and there’s no bugs you can visibly see. We have googled… what’s came up is walking dandruff bugs came up, ear mites, or cat mange mite scabies.
Thankfully, I haven’t scent swapped since getting her back home. So our residence/ house isn’t infested, just her room. Going to have to take her to vet & deep clean her room and everything in it. I’m exhausted from all this. Constantly, making sure when leaving different rooms, that nobody runs outside the door and a huge horrible cat fight goes down. I have no idea what to do for this situation. Does anybody have any suggestions?
2 months ago.. We have tried pheromones diffusers, calming treats, anxiety medication, eating at outside of the other doors, scent swapping, having the screen door .. like a baby gate but better. Six bedroom house… everyone has their own food bowls, litter box, cat trees, ect.
How does anybody deal with this? Will the calico always fight the bengal now? Will the calico ever get along with the innocent Bombay, that the calico turned her, redirected aggression on? It’s been a month, they’ve been separated. She’s still showing horrible aggression.
Btw calico, hisses and growls at me, if I walk by her from the bengal (she got in fight with) having her scent on me from marking herself on my clothes. The calico freaks out on me. What to do?!
I know it’s kinda early maybe they got introduced to fast, they’re all fixed all up to date with shots. Do I try a behaviorist specialist? Do I think about or have to consider rehoming one or possibly two eventually, if they can’t get along at all? I don’t believe in giving up pets, they still with you until the good Lord calls them home. Maybe is this a territorial issues, of dominance between the calico and female, of wanting to alpha?
Yes, I’ve realized 3 females was a bad idea. Do we keep our household of them permanently separated for years, till one passes of old age?
Do we have the vet prescribe meds possibly? I don’t have the answers anymore and the whole situation, is making me want to pull my hair out. I’m not ready to have rehome any. I know they’re all depressed being in separate rooms, it’s become a hot mess.

Please refrain from any mean comments. As, all this is my real life right now. It’s ridiculous. Anybody else ever had to deal with anything similar? What did you do, what was your outcome?
