The judge didn't seem happy about the 7 year agreement. They do have the authority to deny a plea deal. I thought for a second thats where it was going.

druing the meeting with the DDA jimmy had to change the phrasing of "damaged property" to "destroyed property". after he's done the DDA asks him to put his signature down. can someone explain why? is that like formality or is there like a lawful reason or something? sorry if this is the wrong sub for this but i figured maybe someone knows. just kinda stuck with me for some reason.

a joke maybe on how saul is a good lawyer or, not at all.

Saw this and couldn't help but think it looked like Kim and Jimmy. Couple others in the comments said the same thing 🤣

In the beginning of BCS, we see Jimmy on the best behaviour he's been on since he was like ten (or however old he was in that one flashback), but throughout the show, he's shown as being fundamentally incapable of doing a rote, routine job, he always does something stupid but "entertaining."

For example, in the cellphone store, he got frustrated and started selling to criminals even though that could have easily ruined his deferred prosecution agreement and torpedoed his bar reinstatement.

He blew up the Davis and Maine job and told Kim he would continue to be "colorful" because that was who he was.

Or how he started scamming in Omaha because the Cinnabon job was slowly boring him to death.

Hell, when he appears in BB, he chases down the drug dealer who had him at gunpoint so he could play "man behind the throne."

And somehow, this man worked for seven years in the mailroom under the firm scruitiny of his brother, who'd never let him get away with any kind of nonsense.

I mean, part of it probably is him having already fallen off the wagon prior to all the above-listed incidents, but that can't really be all of it. I mean, seven years of nothing, but he went off the rails on everything else, except his Saul Goodman law practice, in a matter of months.

So, what if his need to be sneaky, creative, to get away with something, was fulfilled entirely by his secret law degree? And the fact that he can be satisfied in a way that doesn't ruin people's lives, doesn't that make him look even worse in the grand scheme of things?

I was rewatching BCS clips on youtube, and the one that struck me was where Mike (through Nacho's intel) pushes the police to arrest Lalo. I was wondering if Nacho was still in the car with Lalo and had gotten arrested along side him, what would have happened?

Would that been one of the "better" endings for Nacho as he remains in prison with a reasonable alibi and no longer in risk of running with the Salamancas (at least as far as actual cartel operations are considered).

For starters I like the show for the most part. I remember starting the series and thinking "Oh yeah this is what is is like to watch a real TV show, I almost forgot". I thought the dynamic with Chuck was very interesting and I really liked the thought provoking aspects of it. Was Jimmy the way he is because of Chuck's actions? Or is Chuck only the way he is because of Jimmy's actions? There was a lot to like I think.

I am now getting towards the end of Season 5 and I have to say. The last couple seasons have felt a little aimless. The parts where he was not a lawyer were particularly painful. I didn't love project manager Mike. And now that Jimmy is "Saul", I really don't find him wildly different than how he was in Season 1. The very first scene of the show with the boys and the corpse he was pretty much already his Breaking Bad character.

I was very surprised when I visted this subreddit to see how many people hold Better Call Saul above Breaking Bad. To me that was not even a consideration. But now I feel like I am maybe missing something or perhaps I am just at a lull?

When Kim convinces Lalo that jimmys car was shot by randoms, But I was thinking about it how would Lalo fall for that the car was shot the hell up with AR bullets now I know a regular civilian can get rifles but, If I were Lalo I would only believe that if it was like Glock bullets. I don’t know how he believes that a random person by the border just went and dumped ar mags into a car then pushed it into a ditch. I’m not big into gun culture but isn’t it kind of unrealistic? Or maybe because he’s not from America he doesn’t know, But then again it is stated in an interview with Tony dalton that Lalo went to high school in America that’s why his English is so good.

This feels Simpsonsesque as a throwaway gag, to me.

Everyone thinks that jimmy’s breaking point into becoming saul was the revelation of chuck’s betrayal and being forced to believe that he would always be slippin jimmy, but i think it might be deeper than that. I think it’s because, through said betrayal, jimmy realized chuck, who he aspired to be, was just as bad as he was.

The difference is between the letter of the law and the spirit of the law. Chuck takes the law to be sacred, such that any violation of it is immoral. But Chuck, dogmatic and legalistic, failed to see that the letter has always been lesser than the spirit— that doing the right thing is more important than the law.

Let’s say Chuck was right about Jimmy— that he couldn’t be trusted with the sandpiper case. This is a legitimate claim. Jimmy has constantly bent and cheated the rules. On such a big case, could Jimmy be trusted to not bend the rules and take shortcuts? Especially since the stakes are so high and concern so many innocents. Chuck was right to not take that chance with Jimmy. However, the problem isn’t that Chuck took Jimmy off the case, but the way he did so.

The minute the sandpiper case became too important for Jimmy to screw up, Chuck should have given it to Jimmy straightforwardly and took him off the case. But what did Chuck do instead? He lied and deceived Jimmy, making Howard to the dirty work to pull the rug from under Jimmy. If it was really about Jimmy’s rule bending, then why not say so? Because Chuck has only ever cared about the letter of the law, not the spirit of it. Chuck only ever cared about keeping his hands clean, not realized it made his heart dirty. Even though Chuck never broke any laws, he still cheated and deceived Jimmy, doing the exact same thing he disdained Jimmy for.

This was what sent Jimmy over the edge. Chuck was Jimmy’s role model, his vision of who he has always struggled to be. But all Jimmy saw were Chuck’s clean hands, failing to see the black heart within. The revelation breaks Jimmy, revealing to him that the person he has always tried to be was just as bad as Slippin Jimmy.

Chuck was Jimmy’s lighthouse, bringing light to the dark and showing Jimmy the way, only for the light to be revealed as a lie, casting Jimmy back into impenetrable darkness. If there is no light illuminating the way, then one can only embrace wandering off into the dark.

Jimmy: "I thought you were proud of me."

I got the impression that this scene was specifically made to make you think that was gonna happen

"I was having too much FUN!" was always a very ambiguous line, because it may be referring either to the marriage (Kim was talking about the fact she knew she and Jimmy would have broken up) or the scam (since they would have stopped tormenting Howard)

However, if Kim was talking about the scam, she was implying she wouldn’t have kept ruining Howard's reputation without Jimmy. In the end she could have kept scamming alone, and then maybe date Jimmy again once Lalo's death was confirmed. Instead, scamming without Jimmy wasn't even an option.

This is particularly interestingly considering that Jimmy was the exact opposite, he enjoyed scamming and kept doing it with or without Kim, alone or with others. Instead, to her scamming was necessarily something related to Jimmy.

That’s it. Just what an amazing show all the way through. It really hit the second time around seeing Jimmy finally take real accountability.

Do you think that his Saul Goodman persona is something he embraces in prison or sees as part of his sentence? He seemed pretty adamant about wanting to be McGill again but everyone on the bus only acknowledged him as Goodman.

I feel like there’s a good chance we may never see another series/universe this good again. What a ride man.

They were never equals, and not just on a professional level. Howard always treated Kim as if she was his property and even seemed jealous when she chose Jimmy or other people over him. He wasn't just worried about his business, he really took it personally as if she was *cheating* on him or something, and even tried to sabotage her career just because he was pissed. Him ripping off the money she owed the fucking FIRM (not even him) just to make her feel guilty was particularly unhinged. *But Kim did worse!* Sure, except that both her and Jimmy were desperately trying to cope with all the shit they've been through, while Howard was like that since the very beginning.

Im on my first watch of BCS and i just got past where lalo inspects the stuff at the distributor and finds out that half of it is phoney/lower quality, but I dont understand why some of the product is lower quality? Is it because gus was tryna sell his own meth im kinda confused
