Choosing books from huge TBR

Post image

I always find it difficult to choose my next read.. So lately i am taking help from online “spin the wheel” websites.. It helps me to arrive at one book.. and also while the wheel is spinning, you can hear yourself wishing which book it should stop on..😂

I have made a post on this - https://www.instagram.com/reel/DcwIDdLv-Fn/?igsi=YW85M2twb2NtMHBz

What do you all do to help you pick your next read?

New faceless account

Post image
7 Upvotes

After much thinking, I decided to open a faceless account to share all about the books I read, want to read and buy.

I want to get to know more people and inspire each other to read more.
I like to read a little bit of everything but my most favorite are literary fiction, historical fiction, horror, fantasy, thriller, mystery and manga.

I’m still trying to figure out my aesthetic so patience and advice is much appreciated!

Drop your profiles in the comments so I can follow them too!

Help me build the book app I wish existed

I have always wanted to be able to share my love for books, and talk with people who also read the same books as me. Fable and Goodreads also have the same features, but I feel like it is too cluttered and messy and I want to design and build an app better suited for me (and for the book lovers community as well). So I have listed a few questions below:

  • Do you ever want to talk to someone about a book you just finished? What do you do about that right now?
  • What's annoying for you about Goodreads/StoryGraph/Fable, if you use them?
  • Would you want to connect with a stranger who loved the same book, or does that feel weird?
  • What would make you actually open a book-social app regularly, vs. download it once and forget it?
  • Would you prefer to discuss the books in groups or one-on-one?

Please let me know if you guys have any ideas or any feature you wish to have.:)

Hi! I’m looking to grow my Bookstagram and find other smaller accounts who want to grow and engage with each other! 📚🖤

I’d love to find some active mutuals where we can follow each other, like/comment on each other’s posts, talk about books, and help each other grow!

I mostly read fantasy, dark fantasy, horror, YA, and anything a little weird or creepy, but I’m happy to connect with readers of other genres too!

My Bookstagram is @rachelreadsandraves 😊

Social + Book Club

Hi! I'm starting a community at r/BloodyHeretics and @bloody.heretics for people that want to discuss complicated topics around women's health, structural inequalities, feminist economics and anything else in that vein you might be questioning. Looking for people curious about different perspectives and tackling topics from diverse lenses. Also, always on the hunt for new books recommendations! There will be a monthly Calgary-based book club starting soon and if there's enough interest eventually some lil adventures in the area. Talk soon!

r/bookstagram 2d ago

I started my account back in January and have been loving meeting new people and seeing what they’ve been reading. Would love it if you followed 👏👏👏👏

Use old account or create new one?

Hi guys,

I have a study gram turned bookstagram account with a pretty decent following (68k). I got burned out at the start of this year after posting about once every 1-2 days, and found myself comparing my views and likes to other accounts, and getting upset at my lack of engagement, as well as rushing to read huge amounts of books every week. I think also since it used to be a study account, I was losing a lot of followers who didn’t like the rebrand, and found I was bleeding followers. I definitely made great connections with other bookstagram people and loved engaging with the community, but I became very numbers focused.

I’m wanting to get back into the community and posting again, but I’m wondering whether I should just leave the old account and start anew? Or just deal with losing followers and focus on the community I did make and enjoying posting. I’m just so conflicted!

Bookstagram has changed so much in the last two years.

I started my account back in 2022 and was pleasantly surprised by how easy I found it back then to build community and find like minded individuals. I ended up joining a local book group through bookstagram, and I've been fortunate enough to make friends IRL from it, but now 4 years on I feel like it's changed so much for the worst.

I don't know if it's really a place for people to connect over books anymore as much as it's a market tool for publishers and a place where people seek validation through engagement and an audience over genuinely wanting to connect with people.

The app itself has become really over stimulating. There's so many ads now on stories and the main feed and I find there's just too much going on now with posts, stories and reposts.

This makes it hard to see the posts of people we're following and vice versa.

So many of the comments and interactions have started to feel increasingly superficial and transactional. It feels like so many people don't want to put any effort into reading other people's posts and reviews and instead just comment things like "gorgeous covers" or "I really want to read this" to build up engagement on their own page.

Content organization

Hi everyone! As someone with ADHD & OCD I’m struggling with finding the best way to ORGANIZE. I have a constant influx of content ideas. I’d like some app or system to be able to keep track of any ideas I have, content I’ve already created, books I’ve talked about, maybe even somewhere to keep notes of books (genres, star ratings, things I liked about them or quotes etc

I’m just having trouble bc I keep adding notes to my already overflowing notes app and it’s so disorganized.

Looking for active Bookstagram accounts & more reader friends! 📚

Post image
5 Upvotes

I saw a post like this about a week ago and ended up following a few of you, but I’d love to find more active Bookstagram accounts to follow and interact with!

I just started mine and plan on being pretty active! I read pretty much every genre and love seeing other readers’ reviews, current reads, library hauls, bookish outings, and random thoughts while reading.

My account is @thebookishantics! It’s still brand new, so there isn’t much there yet, but more is coming!

If you want to get a better idea of my reading taste/reviews, I’m also on StoryGraph!

Drop your Instagram below! I’m especially looking for people who post (whether an actual post or stories) regularly and like interacting with other readers, and I always follow fellow readers back!

Looking to find more people to connect with in the bookstagram realm. I die author here but also happy posting and engaging with reading content :) extra marks if it's in the nerdier realms of sci-fi/fantasy. Also got a cool little campaign thing I'm running at the moment and the more suggestions added to it the better it Will be.

Will of course follow folks back with glee.

Let's connect

Giveaways pointless?

I'm a small account *my own fault, I've got like 10 posts,* and have always mainly lurked instead of caring to post. I'm NOW looking to expand my account with plans to start posting more regular and thought doing a few giveaways might help boost the account quicker? than posting 3-4x a week and THEN doing a giveaway. What do we think? Main concern would be hosting a giveaway and then like 3 people see it because I'm a small account haha.

Finding Book Friends

Post image
5 Upvotes

I’d like to introduce myself and my account, @a_hardback_life, as I’m always looking to find more people who are into books.

I mainly read fantasy, horror, sci-fi and literary fiction, with Stephen King being particular favourite, but I’m very much a mood reader, so I tend to jump between genres depending on what I fancy at the time.

I don’t have many people in real life who are into books, so I’d love to find more people on Bookstagram to chat with, share recommendations and actually have some conversations about what we’re reading.

Please comment with your account below so I know to give you a follow back! Always happy to comment and engage with other bookish accounts too.
