Please allow me to introduce you to Mrs. Sarah Galanti Kaplan, a 2nd Lieutenant with the US Army Medical Corps during World War II.
Sarah was born on 2 October 1919 in Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America. She became a nurse and registered for service with the US Army Medical Corps, serving as a field nurse under General George S. Patton during the Battle of the Bulge.
She was honorably discharged in February of 1946. She later married Dr. Samuel Kaplan in Venice, Florida, United States of America, after moving there with her husband in 1949. Her husband was instrumental in starting the first hospital in Venice, Florida.
Sadly, she passed away on 31 May 2005 in Florida at the age of 85. At the time of her obituary printing, she still had family alive throughout the United States.
Let us honor her efforts during World War II and the nursing community in which she served. Gone but not forgotten.
