Week 2 Couldn’t complete Week 2 Run 2 because of shin/ankle pain - what now?

Hi folks, looking some advice on how to deal with pain during running. To give some background:

Completed week 1 last week (Mon, Wed & Fri). Was sore during runs, but nothing unbearable. Did my first run of week 2 on Sun, got through it, but was limping by the end with shin/ankle pain.

This morning (Tue) I went out for second run of the week and was unable to finish it. At the halfway point my shins and ankles had gotten really sore and I stop after the 3rd 90sec run. Felt a bit fresher after about 5 mins so decided to try and finish, but by the end of the 5th 90sec run I could barely even walk with the pain and had to call it quits.

I don’t really want to give up, but if this is happening already in week 2 I’m not really sure how I should approach things.

So I guess my question is am I doing something wrong and where do I go from here?

Bit more info - I am a bigger guy (about 18-19 stone) who is hasn’t done much exercise the past few years. Maybe that has something to do with it, but I’ve seen that many other people of similar weight don’t seem to have had these issues. I bought a new pair of running shoes before starting and they feel comfortable to wear, so don’t think they’re the problem. I’m doing lots of stretching before and after, and have been drinking plenty of water. I feel like I’m keeping my run slow like the guidance suggests, so don’t think my pace is the issue either.

Any advice anyone might have would be much appreciated!

Week 2 New to running!

New to running!
Using the couch to 5k app. I’m using running to try and build my stamina up for Judo.

I’m doing ok with the programme but my Apple Watch Ultra is the thing I need tips with.

I tried a custom workout but it went out of synch with the app and pissed me off 😂

Now I’m thinking maybe try regular outdoor run and just use the side button to mark running and walking sections?

Any tips really appreciated!

question Any good 5k to 10k apps?

Apologies if this has been covered on here before. I’ve just finished the UK NHS Couch to 5k app (thank you, Steve Cram) and am looking to progress to the next level.

Any good app recommendations? Thanks in advance!

As title says, I took my first steps a couple days ago. Starting with intermittent walking/jogging (1 min./30 seconds respectively).

Hoping to be able to run 5k by the start of next year, and hoping to lose some weight!

starting weight: 285

goal: 220 -230.

Week 4 Wk4R1 Chest infection

I'm feeling so deflated... I have been doing really well with the program and love running/ jogging for the first time in my life. Back story: I am a severe brittle asthmatic who spent 28days on life support in an induced coma after an attack. I was paralysed from my neck down and had to learn everything over again. To top this off I had a motorcycle accident and broke my femur, fibula, tibia, multiple fractures every 5mm from hip to ankle, crushed the ankle broke my hip and pelvis. And recently I've been diagnosed with coronary heart disease...Needless to say, every doctor or medical professional I've seen has told me I'd never run. I won't accept this, so I thought I'd follow this C25K program, and honestly I've been blitzing it. Loving every run and being super careful with my body every step of the way. This week I've come down with a nasty chest infection ( doctor has me on antibiotics). So obviously I've decided not to take the risk with running. The thing is, I'm scared of losing what I've gained, and not sure where to start again once I'm well. Do I start at the beginning? Or re do last week? Or just last run? Any advice is welcome

Week 4 5k in Oct

I have been doing the app all summer. I am stuck in week 4 day 1. I just can’t seem to get past the 3s minute mark and have to walk. I have done week 4 day 1 for 2 weeks and I can’t get past this hump. Any suggestions? Getting frustrated…

Beyond 5K Preparing for a 1/2 marathon

I had my first 5k at the end of April and I have another 5k at the end of this month but I’m really working towards a 1/2 marathon in November.
Last night was probably my best effort ever 8 miles in 95 minutes and Just think in January all I could do was walk.

Week 3 Feeling AWFUL a day after eating... Junk food. Is it the workout or just me ?

Heyyy ! Perseverance to all of you who's doing the challenge.

I'm on W3D1, and I have never felt SO BAD after a run. I initially thought it'd be EASY PEASY but during my rest day I indulged in junk food (fried sushis, nems, chickpea brownies, croissant etc)

So I ran and I never felt so bad 🥲 it has never been so hard. I can usually run ~ 10 min just fine. But yeah I feel like throwing up rn 😭

I still completed it though. 😂
