It's like 60% entertainment, 40% educational. I enjoy the shows but you can't really deny there is a lot of fluff, especially around anything that remotely has a whiff of supernatural or extraterrestrial background/lore.

But hey, I'd rather be entertained and learn, then bored to death with technical details. Never get the audience he does either otherwise.

On "unknown" they tend to say away from that stuff, they goofy paranormal stuff got its own shown with him more as a mentor or boss figure than anything.

Yeah several years ago my wife was into his ghost hunter shows and I tried to watch a couple but just couldn't get into them.

The Expedition/Explorers League shows are much better, or at least much more appealing to me.

this is heavily edited down form of reality TV. Go watch any actual real moment that occured during a reality show, such as Real World learning about 9/11, you get a lot of this style of video.

95% of this show is reality TV and means nothing and is recontextualized editing to tell a story. They also happen to be doing a real job, and that real job sometimes has important meaningful discoveries. Once this is over, it'll be back to the "who drank the last of my coffee?" drama.
