Producers and consumers go hand in hand. One can't exist without the other.
I want to mention this because we point fingers at the producers while somehow not being aware that we are the consumers. If we don't stop buying this shit we are also responsible, and no, we don't need them.
And yes, if you’d handle a human being like those poor animals in the industry, you’d get a 54x lifetime plus 1000 years, or even death sentence.
Let me break this down really, REALLY simple for you: people and animals are not on the same terms in life. If you think that they are, you are messed up in the head.
None of this means one should be intentionally cruel to animals, but I would gladly sacrifice hundreds if not thousands of mice (and I have dozens at least in a clinical laboratory setting) if it meant a child sick with cancer got to live a little bit longer, or a person with dementia got a higher quality of life in their twilight years.
I commend people for reducing their meat consumption. For me it's not really about the animals and more about broader environmental impacts though. People are not animals, animals are not people. Full stop.

chat we are talking about murdering chickens for food, with no medical or dietary necessity. apples and oranges.

It is possible to value animal life, without valuing it above human life.

chat you need to follow the conversation thread and keep up... "murdering chickens for food" is what started off this thread, but the person I responded to tried to equate treatment of animals to treatment of people. Something you are doing right now too with calling slaughter of animals "murder."

I agree completely. I think it is a worthy cause to reduce our meat consumption as much as possible. I certainly have cut back a lot myself these last few years. But vegans really lose the plot when they think looking into a cow's eyes means they are connecting with its soul or some bullshit or when they try and act like every single living creature is on equal ground with their fellow human beings.
the person I responded to tried to equate treatment of animals to treatment of people.
I dunno bruh...I think it's ok to advocate for animal welfare by drawing some parallels to how humans are treated.
the person you responded to said that the punishment for killing a human is enormous, whereas the punishment for killing billions of debatably sentient animals...which is entirely optional and not needed...is zero.
Debatably sentient? Boy, I would love to read those studies, let's see them. Trying to imply chickens are sentient is absolutely putting them on equal footing with humans lol.
And yes, if you’d handle a human being like those poor animals in the industry, you’d get a 54x lifetime plus 1000 years, or even death sentence.
Literally the sentence that kicked off this whole thing. How are earth can you say no one is acting like this? lol Why bring it up in the first place as if it's germane to the conversation? They're not human beings so no, there's no point in discussing "lifetime" sentences or "death sentences" because people run processed food factories good greif.
lol, this is deranged and moronic on so many different levels.
Congrats on "not being judged", it's funny that your mind went there though, as you apparently judge everyone who eats meat as being lesser. Part of the ridiculous moral high ground every vegan takes.
So you think people are worth more than animals, just because of what?
They are, because of our ability to have conversations like these. Books, nay, entire religions have been spun up from what separates human kind from animals. The sources I would have to point you towards that would be legion.
The vast majority of animals are not more than gibbering computer programs at the end of the day, following their cold logic for reasons they cannot comprehend. A lion moves into a new pride and kills all the young cubs not because it's logic thought things through and realized it can produce offspring quicker, but only because it's instinct drives it through. A cold logic deep within its own programming.
Self awareness is what separates us from animals. You anthropomorphize animals or dehumanize your fellow human beings if you think we are on the same level.
Interesting ethical question, let’s say the child you saved becomes a tyrant and murders thousands?
That's not an interesting ethical question, that's an insanely idiotic one. What if the mouse you set free from its cage goes on to evolve into a sentient species millions of years from now that commits galactic genocide? Huh? Did you think of that while we are spinning up ridiculous hypotheticals?

Good deeds, thank you for that.

It’s just gruesome how little life is being respected only for profit, fuck those who’re responsible..
