i moved in with my wife and one benefit is that we don’t have to pay rent, the downside is that we have little space so my „office“ is a tiny room like Harry Potter‘s chamber beneath the stairs (well maybe not as bad).

I spend around 8-12 hours a day here as I work from home.

Regardless, I think I did a pretty good job considering the challenges. What do you think?

Tips on space efficiency are welcome.

this is my current setup at home. I actually replaced the desk shelf with the Ugmonk Gather about two years ago, but overall it’s still a combination of Oakywood + Gather.

I’m now looking to build a second setup for my new office, with a similar style but in a black-and-white combination. Unfortunately, I just realized that Ugmonk has discontinued the Gather series, and I really liked both their desk shelf and laptop stand.

The obvious alternative would be to go full Oakywood in black and white, which I’m perfectly fine with since I already know their quality and really like their products.

That said, I’d also like to explore some new options. I’ve been out of the desk setup rabbit hole for a few years, so I’m curious what the current top brands are in terms of quality and minimalist design, preferably ones that are easily available in the EU.

I already know about Balolo, but their designs aren’t really my thing.

Any recommendations would be highly appreciated.

Recently my monitor arrived and I finally finished my small dormitory desk setup! I’m glad I went with a 27” monitor because now it seems like a 32” one would have interfered with my desktop PC.

I’m looking for some help optimizing my corner gaming setup (IKEA MICKE desk + hutch). I use this space mostly for gaming (with occasional studying), but it’s feeling way too cramped, messy, and hard to play comfortably.

I’m on a $0 budget right now, so I’m looking for layout changes, clever positioning tricks, and zero-cost cable routing tips using things I might already have around the house.

Current Setup & Constraints:

Gear: Xbox Series X, mini PC tower, single monitor, mouse/keyboard, headset with charging dock, and an HP printer.

Non-negotiable: The printer has to stay on top of the hutch—there’s no other space for it in my room.

The Issues:

The Xbox Series X and monitor take up almost all the physical desk space, making mouse movement awkward and leaving zero room when I do need to study.

The cable clutter under the desk is out of control and keeps tangling around my feet.

The overall look is super busy with all the items on the hutch shelves.

What I need advice on:

What’s the most efficient way to arrange the monitor, Xbox Series X, and mini PC on this specific corner desk?

Any DIY / zero-dollar hacks to pin back cables under an IKEA MICKE desk without buying expensive trays?

How can I streamline the hutch shelves so the area feels cleaner and less distracting while gaming?

i’m gonna move those posters cause im not sure if they would fit the theme of this wall or maybe just keep the black and white one, add some of those like wall stick on rgb lights that you can customise to whatever shapes you want but im open for any ideas of what i should do or desk options that wont break the bank cause im kinda stuck

I wanted to create a workspace system that feels warm, minimal, and premium, while keeping everything organized. Everything you see on the desk is handcrafted by me: * The material: 100% Solid European Oak, finished with natural oils. * The inserts: Genuine Merino wool felt (interchangeable between light and dark grey). * The backing: Thick cork pads under every piece so nothing slides around or scratches the desk. I designed them to be modular so you can mix and match the trays depending on your EDC and tools. I’m super proud of how the final workspace layout turned out, especially the texture contrast between the oak wood, felt, and the concrete background wall. I’d love to get some honest feedback from this community! What would you add, change, or remove from a setup like this?

Im upgrading my monitors from 27" with 32" I rarely use the TV but I've cut into the art3D panels to mouth the TV. Been trying to think of what I can hang on the wall to cover the cutout. I also still want light strips around whatever goes there like I have with the TV.

Finally got around to unpacking a majority of the things in the new apartment and couldn’t be happier. Note to self mark everything next time.

I’m currently using a 24” curved monitor alongside a 27” LG UltraGear, but I’m thinking about upgrading to an OLED monitor and replacing the left 24“ monitor, mainly with GTA 6 in mind. The ones I‘m currently using are both using LED panels.

I’m currently trying to decide between 27” and 32” OLED, and I’m not sure what resolution makes the most sense.

Would you recommend:
27” 1440p OLED
27” 4K OLED
32” 4K OLED

Does 4K actually make sense on a 27” screen, or would 1440p be enough? And if I’m already going for 4K, is it better to just go straight for a 32” 4K OLED?

I’ll mainly be using it for gaming, especially PS5, but I’d also like it to be good enough for future consoles with maybe PS5 pro or PS6 in mind.

What would you guys choose in my situation, and why? Any recommendations for specific OLED models are also welcome!

Follow this guy on tiktok and tried asking about it but got no reply so thought i’d ask here. I literally cannot find any wires except his keyboard wire. How?! How on earth can you not see any wires, not even to plug anything into a plug?! I am lost for words. How does one manage to get such good cable management.

I’ve been using an IKEA desk for too many years. I decided to build my own corner desk from scratch. Concept to reality, it was very satisfying.

I’m planning a new setup and was wondering about these hidden desks where you can hide all your stuff when not in use (I have a child who likes to mess up with my stuff also). Do you guys have use it? What are the lessons learned and good things to know?

I saw someone post a concept quite some time ago about using a laptop screen as the vertical display. Decided to design a monitor stand using aluminium extrusions that allows your laptop to slot in behind and leave only the screen at the side. Only a USB4 & charging cable required, IOs are expanded using a dock.

It does look pretty sick ngl. To my knowledge this is the only design that caters to standard laptops with no 360° folding. Total cost was <$40 SDG for the entire frame / 3D printed parts (all the extrusions only costed ~$16SGD from Taobao).

Also since someone asked, the laptop is slotted behind, not rigidly mounted. Putting in and taking out takes 5 seconds.

The three monitors are for work, the two are for gaming

I got tired of having a USB hub, USB-UART adapter, power supply and a bunch of cables just to test one dev board, so I started building a desktop tool that puts them together. It has 3× USB 3.0, magnetic UART/I²C, USB power control and adjustable 1.8–3.3V output. I’m also working on a PC tool for quick I²C/GPIO/power checks. What hardware checks do you find yourself repeating most often, and what would you want a tool like this to do?
