🎉Achievement👍 Y'all not gonna believe this

Just got DashLink in my area, first day I get a glitched offer. Took like 10 hours, 9 since I left the warehouse. Estimated like 200 miles 😭 had to optimize my route myself which was a pain in the ass. Not to mention one stop had a second address in the notes, which is where she needed it delivered and that was 20 miles the opposite direction. I went ahead and did it bc I was not trying to drive 45 minutes back to the warehouse and lose any of that pay / get a ding for not delivering it. Running off 3 hours of sleep on top of it all but I did it!!

Cannot believe this fr, but I needed the moneyyyy 🤑💰

Editing to add since I am TIRED of repeating myself and having people say nonsense lol:

It did NOT take 20 hours, it took 10 hours from the time I left my house. It was 9 hours of driving after leaving the warehouse.

It was NOT 788 miles, that was the glitch I mentioned above. It ended up being just under 200 miles. The system had the stops in a scrambled up order, so I did them in an order that made sense. That's how it ended up being 200 miles. The scrambled up order was the glitch and why it paid so much.

Pay on these routes is not usually that high. It's usually $100-200

I drive a Hyundai Kona which gets 30 to 40 MPG

It was not $1/ mile, it was closer to $4/ mile ($773 / 200 miles)

And thank you for all the rewards on my comments, y'all are too sweet 😚

Sorry, but I’m not risking getting a $30 parking ticket because I need to double park just because you don’t wanna leave your comfy hotel room and walk your lazy ass down to the lobby to get the food that you ordered. Deal with it

Edit:

This post really brought out all the lazy customers like the one in my post. Welcome everybody. Enjoy hitting that downvote if it makes you feel better. Just remember, DD doesn’t reimburse us for parking tickets 🎫 we have to pay for those on our own

🎉Achievement👍 FIGURED OUT WHY I WASNT GETTING ANY ORDERS.

For about a full month, everyday i did doordash i’d get either 1 horrible order, or NO orders.
-
ive talked to agents over and over again and got horrible advice.. I figured out that it was the fact my background app refresh was off.. so when i was waiting for hours and i wasnt on the app.. despite it truly looking like i was dashing everytime i came out the app, i wasnt.
-
I also figured out having LOW POWER MODE makes it so background app refresh is off, which i always had my phone in.
-
I turned it on, and had my first day yesterday in a long time getting consistent orders

👋New Driver🤗 Crying while Doordashing 😭

1.3k Upvotes

So I had an order $10 for 10 miles nothing out of the ordinary. When I arrive to the customer he immediately asks me to put the flashlight to the bags. I told him everything was already sealed when I picked it up. He said, I know and started to open up and inspect the drinks. I'm thinking to myself wtf did I do this time? Then he grabs one of the drinks and said yes this one. I'm thinking what about that one?! He says this one is for you. 😭😭😭 I said wow you are so nice I really appreciate it. Seriously thank you! This order was from an expensive restaurant so this drink is probably $10. He said if it's too sweet you can diluted it. I said no I love sweet. Thank you so much God bless you!!! On the way home I'm very touched by his kindness and crying while Doordashing. Good people still exist and I'm so very appreciative to his kindness. 🥰

I have 3 vans at Venice Beach and 3 homeless dudes live in them so I like helping people too but when the kindness happens to you it's very humbling and moving experience. I have to make sure I increase the kindness im spreading in my life like this Asian man did for me tonight. Its a very good reminder and I'll pay it forward big-time. Kind people still exist in this world. Amen. 🥰

🖖Delivery War Stories 🫡 Why can't we dispute "order not delivered"?

Post image

I picked up an order for a very OBNOXIOUS customer who somehow entered the wrong delivery address. Instead of entering her home address, she entered the address for another restaurant. I was surprised when I got there but just figured that's where she worked since I pick up from restaurants and deliver to customers who work at different restaurants all the time. After being told that no one knew the customer's name, I attempted to call her 3 times with no answer while I also messaged her. She finally messaged me back with an attitude asking why would she select the address to another restaurant when she was home while I thought only she could answer that one. I sent her a screenshot of the delivery address that also included her name so she would see it was her error. I also chatted with DoorDash Support who suggested that I deliver to the customer's correct address. The customer told, not asked, me to take the food back to the restaurant and she would pick it up from there. NOT AN OPTION!! Then she told me to stay at the restaurant and wait until she got there (still had an attitude). I secured the bag by tightening it as much as possible and left it in the restaurant (I mean she said she'd pick it up from there). Needless to say, she reported to DoorDash that she didn't get the delivery. I don't know if she really picked it up or not. DoorDash should've seen all of our messages in the app and my failed attempts to call her, yet they allowed her to report the issue and they obviously accepted it. Why can't we dispute delivery issues?

I understand the need to place the items close to the door, but directly in front of a door that opens out is just dumb. I barely got my items without spilling them. I wouldn’t say anything this is like the third time it’s happened. I reported to the app and got $5 which I wasn’t expecting

👋New Driver🤗 taking orders past 10pm/11pm

i see some of yall say you only dash late at night.

in my city (okc) most of the fast food places close the inside and only offer drive-thru past 10/11pm.

is it still worth it to doordash after 10pm if you have to wait in line?

i feel like the lines are always long cause there’s not even that many places open late to begin with.

If you don’t order sauces or ketchup with your order, tough 💩because places now want to charge for it but what they try and do is not pay for it and then see if one of us will get it for them, sorry Precious

❔Driver Question 🤔 What do you all do when there aren’t any orders coming in?

Post image
26 Upvotes

From my previous post here I was amazed how so many of you are completing over a 120 orders a week. I would imagine in order to complete this many orders you are not only working during the rush hours so what do you all do during that time?

Some dashers advertised me not to drive around and turn off the engine to save gas while waiting for others..

While others suggest to drive around between hot spots..

I am generally curious how do you all handle this and how do you kill time when this happens.. I once drove 15 miles to a hot spot then waited there for 2 hours with no orders then got kicked out from the app.. this experience made me wonder if there is a better way to handle it..

Even though DD says they will give me order after 8 min the most I already spent 30 min waiting..

Edit: wow so many great responses, thanks for making me laugh guys.
On a side note if anyone cares, my goal is to make an extra 100$ for a rent payment due on the first and I am already at $43.70 still going strong..

Most offers are usually around $6 for 2 miles but the last couple of weeks it’s just been nonstop horrible payouts. I haven’t really taken any good offers and I’m mostly sitting in my car wasting gas.

❔Driver Question 🤔 Why doesn’t DoorDash show customers your rating anymore?

Upvotes

Idk if it’s just my area, but I’m a driver and ordered on doordash myself recently when I wasn’t feeling good. I couldn’t see my drivers rating at all. Didn’t they use to show it, or no? I would prefer if they did.

Joke/Memes🥸 Wack Aldi Offers

Got these two offers today and needless to say I declined both right after screenshotting. The earnings do not amount to the labor of shopping that quantity, bagging that quantity, then having to load/unload all those items. I haven’t seen too many offers of this quantity, but when I do they get instantly rejected on my end cause I ain’t doing all that. Comes across as a joke to think I’d accept that 😭

❔Driver Question 🤔 Just started taking shopping orders. Something I’ve noticed about it…

Started shopping to cut down on gas. Something I’ve noticed is I’ll get an order for only 1 or 2 items with low miles (great!) but then I’ll start shopping and they’ll start adding more and more things to the cart. Turning what you thought would be a quick 15min job to 30-45mins. Besides being super fast, are there any tips or tricks to help avoid this?

❔Driver Question 🤔 Worry free unassign still effecting completion rate

Half the time that it gives me the option to unassign, it says it won't hurt my completion rate but I'm still getting dinged for it, how can I avoid this? I don't understand

🤬App Issues 😩 Unable to get orders

Upvotes

So the app updated yesterday, and since I turned it on today, I haven’t been able to take any orders. I get the notification for it and it shows up as “excluded” in my acceptance rate tab, but I don’t get the screen where I can accept or decline it. It also pauses my dash a little bit after I get that notification, and I have to manually resume it. Anyone else run into this issue, and what have you done to resolve it? I’ve tried restarting the app and my phone. None of my other gig apps are giving me this issue

Why was the base pay so high? It came in at 10 dollars +. Wasn’t sitting for a while because they were still making it when I walked in. Only waited for like two minutes and it was just a burger and a Red Bull. Yet I had a shop order for like 10 items earlier tonight with a base pay of 2.50.

❔Driver Question 🤔 Total Original Items Help

This one is tough to maintain and I see it’s tough for everyone who has to deal with it on big orders or terrible stores like dollar general that frequently has them out of stock.

I want to know how yall deal with items that don’t even have a shelf tag or doesn’t exist? I feel like “can’t find item location” is terrible to press because it’ll just ding the original found.

My market allowed disputing in the shopper metrics which is a nice tweak! I’m just looking for tips for how one can navigate missing shelf tags, item not existing, and how to prompt substitutions or refunds without hurting metrics?

👩‍🍳Restaurant Issue👨‍🍳 Restaurant forgot an item

Just delivered an order for someone and the restaurant forgot an item. Driver called and asked if I could go back and pick it up. I was on my way to another restaurant for a new offer. Told them I could but it'd be a wait. $11 offer 6mi drive. Would yall go back and pick it up and deliver the forgotten item?
