SPOILER! DANGER! Endgame’s plot is honestly some of the weakest writing in the MCU

The more I think about Endgame, the less the Nebula/Thanos plot makes sense.

Why did 2023 Nebula just stand there malfunctioning instead of immediately returning to the future? She knows Thanos is in 2014. The second something weird starts happening with her network, LEAVE.

And how does this “shared neural network” even work? Two Nebulas exist, apparently sharing memories/data, but somehow only 2014 Nebula conveniently receives 2023 Nebula’s memories.

Shouldn’t that work both ways? Why doesn’t 2023 Nebula start seeing what 2014 Nebula is doing too?
Even more conveniently, the FIRST useful memory Thanos sees is basically the exact information he needs to figure out the Avengers’ entire plan. Perfect timing.

Then 2014 Nebula somehow impersonates future Nebula perfectly while future Nebula becomes almost helpless. Why isn’t the younger Nebula malfunctioning too?

The biggest problem: how does 2014 Nebula bring Thanos’ entire army through time?
The Avengers just spent years figuring out time travel, built specialized equipment, used Pym Particles, and barely understood what they were doing. Yet Thanos apparently studies Nebula for a few minutes and suddenly knows how to send himself, his massive ship, and his whole army to 2023.

Did he build a time machine? Modify the Avengers’ device? Create a portal? How did he have enough Pym Particles? The movie basically says, “Thanos figured it out.”

Then there’s the final fight.
Stoneless Thanos somehow beats Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America almost by himself. This is the same Thanos who nearly lost multiple times while HAVING Infinity Stones.

And where was Captain Marvel during all of this? She arrives ridiculously late, destroys his ship instantly, but even she somehow struggles with stoneless Thanos.

Then everyone starts playing football with the Infinity Gauntlet instead of actually using the Stones.
Why not use one Stone against Thanos? Why not have Ant-Man shrink himself and the Gauntlet microscopic and hide? Why doesn’t Captain Marvel simply take the Gauntlet into space? Thanos’ ship was already destroyed. Who exactly was going to catch her?
Hell, Captain Marvel could arguably have tried using the Gauntlet herself. Hulk survived using it, and Carol is one of the most durable and powerful beings in the MCU.

I love the spectacle of Endgame, but so much of the climax only works because characters suddenly stop thinking logically and the rules bend exactly when the plot needs them to.

Can we just talk about how, during the “Avengers, assemble” scene, while absolute cosmic hell is breaking loose around him, the Winter Soldier just calmly takes a knee and starts firing short, controlled bursts?

Endgame Whales

Does anyone think that the whales from endgame in the Houston may possibly be looking for the rest of their pod from the snap or are they just enjoying the “clean waters” like was said in the movie. I feel like whales are extreme familial animals so it would make sense to look for pod mates that just ‘went missing’

Didn’t Nebula cause the final battle in Endgame

Correct me if I’m wrong here, but upon a rewatch, I noticed that when Rhodey and Nebula got the power stone, they sync up and supposed to go back to the present. I get that Nebula is retrained because her systems crash with the past version of herself, but what I don’t understand is why she goes back to the ship. Who is she contacting? Everyone went to different points, and even if they went to the exact same year, they were all over the Universe. Her comms from the jet wouldn’t have been able to contact anyone, or am I wrong here.

Instead of teleporting straight back to the present, she ends up captured, which in turn gets her switched with her past self. Even then, she goads Gamora, instead of just saying “Thanos sacrifices you for the soul stone, she just asks her a few questions before she gets kicked, and still doesn’t say anything.

Had she gone back, Thanos would not have had any way of chasing them to the future, everyone would have been returned, Tony doesn’t die, the Avengers are still together.

I get that it’s a movie and things happen, but as I was watching I just thought what the hell are you doing? Thoughts?

The soul stone logic

Does anyone else think Marvel completely broke its own rules with the Soul Stone and the TVA?

One of the things I originally loved about the MCU was that even when it got crazy, the universe still felt like it had rules. Endgame spent a huge amount of time explaining time travel, branching timelines, and the idea that certain sacrifices actually mattered.

Natasha’s death worked because the movie treated the Soul Stone sacrifice as permanent and unavoidable. It wasn’t just “someone died.” It was presented like a cosmic law.

But then Loki comes along and the TVA is literally using Infinity Stones as paperweights.

So now I’m left wondering:

- If the TVA can casually possess Soul Stones, why was Natasha’s sacrifice irreversible?

- If the Stones are “beyond time,” why are they sitting in drawers?

- If timelines can be pruned and manipulated constantly, what even makes Endgame’s consequences special anymore?

The problem isn’t introducing new concepts. Expanding lore is fine. The problem is Marvel keeps adding exceptions without properly explaining them, and it’s making the universe feel inconsistent instead of interconnected.

At some point it starts to feel like the rules only matter until the writers want a cool moment or emotional shock.

And honestly, that weakens the stakes retroactively.

I still enjoy a lot of the MCU, but I miss when actions actually felt permanent and the universe respected its own logic.

Loki turning into Captain America

Loki is in handcuffs, and he turns into Captain America. "Coordinating Search and Rescue", but when he turns into Cap, the handcuffs are gone. He turns back into himself, and the cuffs are back. Did anyone notice that? Just thought it was interesting.
