I gotta show Broken Pieces Shine The Love it deserves (even thought it’s definitely not gonna win)😩❤️ My Immortal is an insanely well known and powerful/emotional song, but Broken Pieces Shine delivers that same level of Power in my opinion, but just in a much different way. Following Artifact/The Turn, Its the perfect introduction to The Bitter Truth and everything that it’s about, and is arguably one of the strongest songs on that album 🤟🏻🔥 and im also proud of it for being the only song off TBT to make it 3 rounds.

I recognize how important My Immortal is to the band’s history and its place in the setlist, and probably in the broader music industry too. I’m just bothered by the fact that (from my understanding) the Origin strings version was pushed onto the album by the label instead of the band version Amy actually wanted. I’m also tired of content creators talking about this and getting the versions backwards lmao

But Broken Pieces Shine is a banger, a badass album opener and an equally badass show opener. Paired with Artifact/The Turn, the band absolutely kills it and Amy’s more mature vocals are completely on point.

That's so disappointing to hear considering how much I love the band-less version. It sounds like she had felt herself outgrowing the song from the very beginning, and it's interesting how she's come around to it so much later. This is a fascinating hustory.

Yep. The Origin version was the one Brad showed the Wind-Up people that ultimately made their decision to sign Evanescence. Amy didn't want that version because it wasn't all that great. Lol. Recorded unprofessionally and without a real piano. They (either Amy or the label) had the idea to add the strings to that recording for Fallen. The Band Version is what Amy wanted to use but the label was so caught up on the song that made Wind-Up sign them that we got track 4 on Fallen (anyone else notice that My Immortal is also track 4 on Origin?)

Broken Pieces Shine. It has so much POWER, killer melodies & soaring vocals. Excellent follow up to Artifact/The Turn.

I’ve never been a big fan of MI but can appreciate its significance in Ev’s history. I understand a lot of people feel very emotionally connected to it, I just happen to not be one of those people lol.

BPS! My Immortal still holds up even after listening to it a million times but Broken Pieces Shine is fantastic, the drums are insane.

My Immortal is beautiful, but it's too overrated at this point

Is this the band version or version with 18 year old Amy singing (which she does not like)?

It's really hard not to let the nostalgia bias gets to this, but I need to give BPS some love

How the fuck could you do this to me????

Both of these are really important songs for me, haha. BPS is a mantra of sorts, but for me My Immortal is where it all started. UGH.

Very very hard to decide. Both at the ends of the spectrum of Ev's catalogue. The drums in BPS are as iconic as the piano motif in MI. However, BPS's bridge is a bit underwhelming compared to MI's so MI git my vote.

I went to one of their concerts specifically to witness broken pieces shine live cuz I KNEW it would have killer bass in a huge ampitheter, but my immortal has had such a huge impact on me and my life. I remember going to the synthesis concert and bawling my eyes out when it came on, it's genuinely such a special song to me

Broken Pieces Shine is a song I connect with Lyrically very deeply. I heard it first at a particularly difficult time in life. When I first heard it, it was like I was getting permission to stop dredging forward with nothing left to give; to finally fall apart, hit bottom, and rebuild myself. I will always be thankful for this song.

Is it worth even voting on this one, the nostalgia slaves will vote My Immortal despite Broken Pieces Shine being god tier.

My Immortal

that was a very easy one there as that's among Amy's best where as Broken Pieces Shine is not bad but ultimately nothing special. BPS is not even the best among TBT album (I would say BPS is on the lower half of TBT), which goes to Far from Heaven, which even that, I would still ultimately choose My Immortal over, but at least there would be some level of challenge to it.

p.s. but I think this one was over before it started since My Immortal, like it or not, is one of their most known songs so I assume many will default to it more often than not.

The intro to BPS gives me goosebumps. Don't get me wrong MI is amazing too... And going to win probably. But showing some love to BPS here.

That sucks because I love BPS but My Immortal is like top 3 best songs of her career.
