what’s the best drunk acting you’ve ever seen in a movie or tv show? for me, it’s Charlie Day as Charlie Kelly in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. the way he plays drunk is genuinely fucking incredible. the voice, the movements, the facial expressions, the way he talks—it’s so ridiculously convincing and hilarious. every time i watch him, i’m just thinking, “how does this man not have an Oscar for this?” 😭

I just watched Patton again for maybe the fourth time.

The first time I saw it, in the theater, I was blown away, and I always enjoyed rewatching it. Except this last time it left me flat. It hasn't aged well. It's overlong, and it's a lot of battle scenes with stuff getting blown up, and then there's George C. Scott doing a fantastic Patton, but the character is repetitive. There's no growth. Same Patton, same Scott, same stuff getting blown up for three LONG hours.

Am I just getting cranky in my old age?

What other actor or character do you feel was wasted in a movie that could have utilized them much better and made them iconic?

I LOVED this movie! I honestly haven’t watched much film. I’m in no way a film nerd. I’m a writer and have written five novels. I honestly read more than I watch movies. But, I bought a subscription to the Criterion Channel and I’ve made the quest of trying to get through all the movies. A fool’s errand, but just let me have my fun.

Anyway, I watched The Darjeeling Limited and it was great. It’s about three brothers all carrying baggage (ahem, suitcases) on a train ride across India after their father’s death, and how they reconnect. I wouldn’t say it’s as super emotional as you’d expect, but it’s definitely a great film with a great story and great acting. There is one super emotional part near the end. In a lot of the ways, I feel the movie is about death and how it changes people.

Just give it a watch if you have the chance. A great fucking film.

Critics didn’t like it much when it came out in 2007. A shame. It’s truly underrated.

I watched Perfect Days when it came out and it truly gave me a different perspective on life that's helped me a lot.

I've heard stories of people that chose to be doctors after watching Patch Adams, went into arm wrestling after Over The Top ect ect.

A great movie. Strong acting, a good script, top photography and a powerful, almost unforgettable ending.

Just about Nick Nolte's career performance and nominated for an Oscar plus won multiple awards and the legendary James Coburn in his Academy Award-winning perfoemance in a truly amazing performance and deserved win.

A forgotten and seldom talked about flick. Critics lauded it at the time. Also a shout out to Sissy Spacek's understated yet very good and important role and Willem Dafoe's incredible narration and vital mid-film in-person scene.

Honestly I’ll cheat and I’ll say the back to the future franchise instead just one of the movies. Genuinely my favourite franchise and I grew up watching those movies, the story is so insane and I love how one leads into another and sometimes overlaps, the visuals are so beautiful and it’s a peak childhood movies all around to be honest.

Every time someone asks me what to watch I always say just pick anything with Peter Stormare in it. Prison Break got me hooked cause his Abruzzi was so good I had to google who this guy was. Then I found out he's in Fargo, Constantine, John Wick 2, Armageddon, even Until Dawn. He plays the actual Devil in Constantine and honestly it's one of the best villain performances I've ever seen. In Prison Break he turned a side character into the most interesting person on the show. I started going through his filmography after Prison Break and I'm still not done. The man has been in over 100 projects and I keep finding ones I missed. If you like villains who are scary but also weirdly charming he's your guy.

Seriously just look him up and pick anything, you won't be disappointed. Lol my friends can confirm I never shut up about this man. Anyway who's your hidden gem??
