I LOVED this movie! I honestly havenât watched much film. Iâm in no way a film nerd. Iâm a writer and have written five novels. I honestly read more than I watch movies. But, I bought a subscription to the Criterion Channel and Iâve made the quest of trying to get through all the movies. A foolâs errand, but just let me have my fun.
Anyway, I watched The Darjeeling Limited and it was great. Itâs about three brothers all carrying baggage (ahem, suitcases) on a train ride across India after their fatherâs death, and how they reconnect. I wouldnât say itâs as super emotional as youâd expect, but itâs definitely a great film with a great story and great acting. There is one super emotional part near the end. In a lot of the ways, I feel the movie is about death and how it changes people.
Just give it a watch if you have the chance. A great fucking film.
Critics didnât like it much when it came out in 2007. A shame. Itâs truly underrated.
