By the 1890s, the traje de mestiza adopts the voluminous proportions of Western dress, particularly the leg-of-mutton sleeves. The shoulder line drops by a few inches, while the sleeves flare outward with the help of starch. Her plaid skirt, along with others of the period, narrowed down to feature a sweeping train, referred to as a saya de cola (skirt with a train). Her skirt, in particular, has an unusually high hemline, revealing her footwear.

A new folding method for the pañuelo (fichu) results in a smaller, thinner appearance, featuring two dimples on each side. The pañuelo of this decade is pulled farther toward the shoulders, revealing more of the neck. Scalloped borders along the edges of the pañuelo and sleeves remain a favorite decorative technique.

She wears a pair of corchos, or flat, backless sandals without a heel. Lastly, her accessories include a pendant, an abanico (folding fan), and a pañolito (small handkerchief).

I was just looking at pictures of Henry IV and noticed this surprising head curtain, which at a glance looked kind of… 19th century orientalism? to my untrained eye. Can anyone tell me anything about it?

If i had to guess on this I would say 1890s-early 1900s? ( just a guess, I’m sure someone will have a more accurate answer ! )

Website: On first glance, this necklace by the Norwegian jeweler and metalwork artist Tone Vigeland, appears to be a luxurious collar made of delicate, lustrous blue-black feathers. It is actually an intricate tour de force in metals, composed of hundreds of steel nails that Vigeland flattened and forged by hand, then meticulously attached one by one to a silver chainmail backing, and embellished with a ring of gold pod-like beads and a simple rose-colored mother-of-pearl clasp.

Website: In the second half of the 19th century, there was a revival of interest in lace. A veil and lace accessories became desirable for a bride. This high-quality veil, made of machine-made net with applied needle and bobbin lace motifs, was worn by the donor's mother for her wedding in 1883. Veils were by this time worn off or over the face.

If possible can someone just look at this paper doll design and see if they can tell me what time period she looks like she's from? Just to see if I got it right.

Made in Ronneby, Sweden, in 1952, it formed part of an outfit consisting of a matching nightdress and dressing gown
