Our game designer is total trash at animation, so we went with FNF-like animation for our autobattler

We're a small team making autobattler. Game designer does the animation here, and he's just not pulling it off (for the record, that's me, and I'm very self-critical).

So we went with static characters that flip to different states when triggers fire in game. For now we picked 4 states:

  • idle
  • taking damage
  • dealing damage
  • death

Each one has 3 variations that get rolled at random on trigger. We'll probably add some motion to idle later (pulsing, or a "shake" via a skeleton), but right now we just want the bare minimum to get the game "working".

Any ideas on how to make animation like this better? You definitely know this stuff better than I do

Game Title: Star Cube

Playable Link: Game Title: Star Cube

Playable Link: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-16/rate/4953523

Platform: Web

Description: We just finished our submission for the Brackeys Game Jam, and while we've received plenty of nice comments on our itch page, I always get the feeling that feedback among jammers can be a bit biased. Anyone who has participated in a game jam knows how it goes: since your own rating is tied to community interaction, people tend to play it safe and stay polite to avoid hurting scores. That's why we're looking for 100% honest, unfiltered feedback from this community. If you have a few minutes to play it directly in your browser, we'd really appreciate your thoughts. Please don't hold back just because it's a jam game—tell us what sucks, what feels clunky, what mechanics are unbalanced, or what feels plain boring. We are currently deciding whether it's worth continuing development after the jam and what core concepts we might need to rework from scratch.

I need help with my 2-player game idea

Hi! I'm working on an original 2-player co-op story game and I'm looking for people who can help me develop the idea and eventually make the game.

The story is about two prisoners from the future who escape and somehow end up travelling through different periods of history. One of the main settings I'm planning is Ancient Greece.

The game would focus on:

  • 2-player cooperation
  • Story and choices
  • Exploration
  • Puzzles
  • Action
  • Different historical settings
  • A story with different possible outcomes

I want the game to have a stylized 3D art style, with simple and slightly exaggerated characters instead of realistic humans.

I'm still learning, so I need help with pretty much every part of game development, including:

  • 3D modelling
  • Character design
  • Rigging
  • Animation
  • Unity
  • Programming
  • Multiplayer
  • Level/environment design
  • Gameplay mechanics
  • Puzzles
  • Story and dialogue
  • VFX
  • UI
  • Sound/music

I'm mainly looking for advice, ideas, feedback and people who can help me learn how to make these things.

However, if someone likes the project and wants to actually work on it with me, I'm completely open to that too. You don't have to be an expert — even if you're learning, we could help each other and build the game together.

The project is still in an early stage, so I'm trying to figure out the best way to develop it and turn the idea into a real game.

If you have experience with any of these areas, or simply have ideas that could help, I'd really appreciate your help.

And if you'd be interested in working on the project with me, feel free to message me!

[Hobby] Seeking Programmer/Co-Creator for Shroomlandia (Cozy Multiplayer Sim)

Hey! I'm putting together a cozy multiplayer indie game called Shroomlandia**—think the core loop of** Shroomtopia set inside a neon-lit, surreal underground cavern with an Astral Portal friend system and a player-driven Night Market.

I have the complete design document, game loop, UI concept, and aesthetic vision locked down. I'm looking for a passionate developer/programmer to partner up with as a co-creator on a rev-share or equal equity basis. Just a heads-up that I'm bootstrapping this with zero budget right now, so I'm looking for someone who wants to team up as an equal partner to build this thing from scratch together. Let me know if you want to see the design sheet!"

Available for Game Playtesting – $10/hour

Hey everyone! I currently have some free time and I’m looking to take on game playtesting opportunities for $10/hour.

I have around 3 years of experience with game testing/playtesting, and I’m comfortable spending several hours testing a game, identifying bugs, balancing/economy issues, progression problems, UI/UX friction, performance issues, and general player experience.

I don’t just play casually — I provide detailed, structured feedback with specific examples and suggestions that can actually help developers improve their game.

I’m available for both short-term tests and longer sessions, and I can dedicate multiple hours when needed.

If you’re a developer looking for a reliable playtester, feel free to DM me with the game and testing requirements. Thanks!

Free music pack I put together — 20 tracks, take what you need

Thumbnail andrewsitkov.itch.io

I write royalty-free music for a living, and I put together a pack of 20 tracks to give away. Nine different genres in there — action cinematic, sci-fi, orchestral, hard rock, techno, retro chiptune, casual and acoustic. Figured a spread was more useful than twenty variations on the same thing.

WAV and OGG, most of them with looping versions so you can drop them straight in. Use them in whatever you're making — game, video, stream, doesn't matter. Commercial is fine. No credit needed, no signup, no email.

https://andrewsitkov.itch.io/free-music-starter-pack-for-games-video-streams

If you end up liking the music, these 20 came out of a bigger collection of mine that's bundled on Humble right now — 48 packs, 591 tracks. But that's entirely optional, the free pack is just yours.

We launched our escape room prototype on itch.io!

We're excited to share the first build of our game 😊

This is a escape room where you wake up as a princess with memory loss after a mysterious accident, the only information you have is that your father is locking you in because of that. Now you need to find out what happened while trying to escape the palace.

Its a playtest to make sure the puzzle is fine for a tutorial fase and check the visual propose of our game too!

There is a short forms on our itch.io page that you can do after playing

Thank you for everyone for supporting our posts so far!

Looking to start a games company in Ghana and looking for people who might be interested in building something together

Basically I’ve been thinking about this for a while and I want to actually start putting it into motion.
I already have access to an office in Cantoments with a good stable internet connection, and I have a rough idea of how I want to approach the game and where I’d like to take it. What I’m missing is the right people around me to actually build it.
Gaming has always been a passion of mine and I’ve always wanted to see more genuinely good games being developed by Ghanaians / Africans.
Other countries are doing it, building studios, creating their own games and characters and putting them out to the world, so honestly why not us?
I’m not expecting us to suddenly become some massive AAA studio 😂. I’d rather start small, make something genuinely good and see where it goes.
I’m looking for people who are into games and would actually want to be involved in building something from the ground up.
Could be:
Game developers
Artists / 3D artists
Animators
Game designers
Sound / music
Writers
Marketing / community
Or anyone who thinks they can bring something useful
You don’t necessarily need years of experience either. I’m more interested in people who actually care about games, want to learn and want to create something.
I already have experience with marketing, business development, creative projects and partnerships, so I can handle a lot of the business / marketing side while we build the team around the actual game development.
At the moment this is basically a “let’s see who’s interested and what we can build” situation rather than a fully funded studio with everything figured out 😂
But the office is there, the internet is there, the idea is there and I genuinely want to see this happen.
If you’re interested, send me a DM and tell me a little about yourself, what you do, what kind of games you like and what you’d potentially want to contribute.
Would be good to see who is around and hopefully start putting a small team together.
