How good is my late game Reyna?
She's way too OP. Make me wish we could change the difficulty on the fly. Is this optimum? Or is there any other armour I'm missing to make her better?

I’ve been digging pretty heavily into Gears Tactics modding lately (the first game I have tried to mod before too!) and wanted to share what I have so far with the community or for anyone else interested in experimenting with the game.
NOTE: The following tools are in alpha, can experience bugs and I always recommend backing your stuff up.
I’ve also been working on two tools:
Gears Tactics Mod Manager
Nexus Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/gearstactics/mods/29
A manager for not just CSV based mods but asset mods with backups, mod importing, load order handling, conflict detection, and smarter merging so using multiple mods doesn’t require manually replacing files every time.
Gears Tactics Asset Tool
Nexus Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/gearstactics/mods/30
A much earlier project focused on inspecting and extracting the game’s assets and figuring out more of its internal file/container formats.
So far with this tool I have been able to mod my game to swap out textures and make changes to assets (weapons at this time) by modifying the underlying files. As I found that simply editing CSV files has its limitations and sometimes is overriden by the Unreal assets that are bundled in the game. Example mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/gearstactics/mods/32
I’ve created a Discord for mod releases, troubleshooting, tools, reverse-engineering discoveries, and general modding discussion. If you’ve made mods before, want to learn, or are just interested in seeing what can actually be changed in Gears Tactics, you’re welcome to join.
Discord: https://discord.gg/6SHkQpPtgk
Still early days, but I’m hoping to build up some proper documentation and make Gears Tactics modding a little more accessible.

I completed the Fiery Dragon Veteran Mission with an optional objective - no snipers (01), which is displayed after the mission ends (02). However, when I move on to the next step, it turns out the optional objective failed (03).
Also, the mission name differs between the start and the finish. It begins as "Fiery Dragon" but ends under the name "Fiery Warlord" or "Unyielding Basilisk" (I replayed the mission several times) (03, 04).
Is it a bug, or I missed something?

Someone please help me, I've been playing with some friends and everything was fine, it let me join the group/squad and I could play, but now it takes a long time to load when I want to join and I get an error message :( I even opened the game in the cloud and that message appears there too.

While I was doing a mission my PC froze with a weird noise. I force restarted the PC and now I can't continue or load my save without it closing. Other campaign saves work fine though. Is there a solution? I'm deep in Act 3 with recruits that don't look like their face melted I really don't want to start over again.

Especially when backed up by a Support class. I had her use Anticipation the previous round, and then with Teamwork, I got her up to seven actions. With plenty of gear to reduce cooldowns and expand movement, and also for crits and damage, she single handedly slaughtered 90% of the enemies in the mission. Later on in another turn I gave her even more via executions. It was absolutely brutal. Her sprint was made to have a one turn cooldown. She could legit run for miles after she killed like seven people. She picked up the two most out of the way crates in different directions on the same turn.
Make no mistake, Scouts are absurdly powerful. I think they are the strongest class tbh.

It seems that the standard issued armor are in blue, but the main character(s) of the franchise are mainly in black/dark grey. Which one should I use?
Also, dang, scouts are OP. Now I wonder what will happen if I run a squad with 4 scouts

Hello everyone, I had an idea for those of us who haven't been able to play a game with Thrashball Cole. It would be as simple as donating a save file from the point where he appears in the game, both in Jacked and normal modes, because of the issues he has when he spawns. I don't know if there's anyone generous enough to share the files, and we would all be very grateful.
Please help us with this so we can enjoy the content.

Does anybody have a guide on how to basically replace all the weapon mod and armor rewards for challenges and mission completion with the next highest rarity? For example, common to rare and so on

I know its possible to change the .csv files to alter enemy spawns, like in the ukkons wrath mod, but i'm wondering how specifically to change the number of enemies that come out of an e-hole each turn, does anyone know?

I remember years back when i first got the game that executions didn't give xp, which seemed stupid since executions were supposed to be a core mechanic of the game but it was almost always better to not execute, especially on higher difficulties. recently ive seen some conflicting info that either they may give xp now, or that bayonet and chainsaw do, but others dont, or they do in certain situations, etc. does anyone know what the actual state of executions in game is now? do they count as xp? and if so, under what conditions?

Is there any fix for this. Gpu rendering 120 fps when at most can show 75 sounds like the best way to melt my gpu.

I have a rtx 4060, 5700x3d and 16 gbs of ram but game even if I set it to ultra settings looks kinda blurry. I turned off Minimum framarate and even setting sharpness to 2.0 does not seem to fix it.

Am I the only one who hates the mandatory side missions the game throws at you? The game is great, but all those missions in between the main campaign are annoying as hell. I’m on Act 3 now, and it’s getting even worse, now I’m required to do 3 instead of 2 like in the previous acts.

I'm still new to the game, just finished the first chapter. Now in second chapter, I get some heroes "banned" from the mission, so for instance instead of my hero sniper, I need to recruit a new sniper just for this mission. But the thing is, then I need to transfer the "good" gear from my hero sniper to this new one, and not forget what I transferred and get it back after.
This seems like an extremely tedious and error prone process to repeat before/after every mission and keep track of. Is this really the intended way to play the game? Is there something I'm missing?

Came back after several years and was playing veteran mode for a while, then decided to do an insane run. Not for the faint of heart. By the next to last mission I was fed up with the game but I did it.
My builds were pretty standard. Like any turn based, it's all about action economy. Scout and Sniper generate their own extra actions and Support empowers them even more for super turns. Scout is better than Sniper for more ways to save or generate actions. Sniper is not as good because you actually have to hit things to make your abilities work.
The ideal team composition is 2 Support/Scout/Sniper. Scout/support will carry 75 percent of the game, with Sniper/support carrying the other missions. Turtle up in overwatch, and pick the right moment to unleash the Scout or Sniper to sweep the board or reach out and kill dangerous enemies like snipers and Therons.
Ended up with 5 Supports, 4 scouts and 3 snipers.
Didn't find much use for the heavy. The accuracy is just so awful and Support/Sid can do almost as well in Overwatch if you stay together and overlap fields of fire. One niche use is as a Brumak killer, since the bonus to hit and large target makes up for the bad accuracy. Take your first heavy and level towards Artillery instead of Defender. By Act 2 and the Corpser, the Scout has come into her own for crowd control so the Heavy gets left behind. There is no reason to level heavies after Act 1. I think I ended up with 2 heavies.
Never knew what to do with Sid when playing on veteran, so I put more thought into him on Insane because you have to bring him to so many missions. His bayonet charge is quite useful though. Bayonet and chainsaw are instant kills so the "damage" never falls off. I took all the bayonet related skills to the right and the +25 Crit Chance skill. Use equipment to give him Crit chance/damage and he turns into a decent secondary boss killer, although I wished I could bring a heavy instead. There is no reason to recruit a second vanguard
