My parents had been using the same 43" TV for years. It still worked fine, but I thought it was probably time for an upgrade, especially since a bigger screen would make things easier to watch from the couch.

I was originally just looking for a simple replacement, since they mostly use it for cable, YouTube, and streaming. I checked out a few options in store and ended up getting the 65" Hisense U65 Pro TV from Costco.

Honestly, it feels like a really good value for the price. The bigger screen made an immediate difference, and the picture looks great for everyday watching. The anti-glare screen is also nice since their living room gets a decent amount of light during the day.

Nothing too fancy, just a TV that does everything they need without spending a ton. Pretty happy with the purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good everyday TV upgrade.

There's a spinlock set under my bed with the collars still half done up. Swapping plates between exercises took long enough that I kept skipping whatever came next, and eventually I stopped getting it out at all.

Then I tried one of those dial-adjustable sets. The plastic selector cracked. I looked at used ones after that, but a Marketplace photo doesn't show you what's cracked inside, so I walked away twice.

By the end I'd stopped comparing prices and was reading warranties instead, and the ten years is what settled it. Whether a warranty like that means anything when you actually try to use it, no idea. I picked up the PowerBlock Elite EXP pair this month.

They look like metal bricks and they cost $400. Mine are the 5 to 50 pair, I passed on the expansion kit. The weight change takes a couple seconds. I haven't skipped an exercise since, but it's been weeks, not years, so that proves nothing.

Whether they hold up, I'll find out. If anyone has had a set go past five years, I'd like to hear what broke first.

Wound it, set the alarm five minutes ahead to test, about launched me off the couch. The back literally has LOUD stamped on it, and they mean it.

Every faucet I've ever bought came off a box store shelf, and until last month I never thought twice about it.

Then the kitchen faucet that came with this house cracked at the base of the spout. No brand on it anywhere. I only caught it because the particle board under the sink went soft, and there's a towel wrapped around the base right now while I sort out the replacement.

That's how I fell into the old argument. The plumbing subs keep saying the box store runs of the big brands carry more plastic inside than what a supply house sells, and the manufacturers say there's no difference. The one specific thing I found is on Moen's own page, same grade of brass everywhere, different model numbers depending on the store.

The one I've been eyeing is $169 at Home Depot. I know I could walk into a supply house Monday and ask, but the counter guy's answer is always going to be whatever's on his shelf.

So I'd rather ask people who've lived with one. How old is the faucet on your sink? Where did it come from? Has it ever needed a part? And if the store thing is a myth, better I hear it now than after I've spent the money.

Budget office chair number three it is, because the gas lift on number two gave up last month. There's a hose clamp around the cylinder holding the seat at about the right height, and I still reach for the lever out of habit. Chair one went the same way before anything else on it wore out. That time I did the cylinder swap, about $25 and a rubber mallet, and the replacement started sinking inside a year. Not doing it again. Two chairs and a spare cylinder, about $245, four years. That money could have been one better chair and no clamp.

I sit in this thing most of the day and I'm past caring about lumbar buzzwords or the gamer look. I already spent a weekend on Marketplace looking at used Steelcase. Everything I've seen near me is $300 and up, and the cheap ones are a two hour drive for a maybe. So new, up to $200.

What's under you right now, and is the lift original? A $70 chair that's still holding counts as an answer, a $400 one doesn't.

The best bath mat in our house is a rock, which is not what I expected to be typing. For years the routine was the same: buy a fabric mat, wash it twice a week because it never fully dried, watch it go gross anyway, replace it. I resell furniture on the side so I notice when I keep rebuying the same item, and bath mats were quietly one of my worst repeat purchases.

My wife found the stone kind, one of those diatomaceous earth slabs, and I was skeptical because it looks like a gimmick. It isn't. Wet footprints on it fade while you're brushing your teeth, and the whole slab is bone dry again long before the next shower. Nothing to hang, nothing to wash, no smell. Our bathroom has bad ventilation and it still doesn't grow anything, which was the thing that killed every fabric mat we owned.

Couple things to know. It's a hard surface, so if you want something soft under your feet this isn't that. It's stone, so dropping it on tile ends it. Ours sits in one spot and never moves. And the absorption slows down over time, you bring it back by rubbing it down with fine sandpaper for a couple minutes, a few times a year.

Firm mattress topper threads all say the same thing, and I can't tell if my problem is the kind they're talking about. Bought the mattress three years ago and picked soft on purpose, which is on me. It felt like this the first week. There's no dip in the middle and no sagging edge, I put a straight edge across it and there's nothing. I sink in far enough that turning over is work.

The dog sleeps on the end of it and you can see where he flattens it, but it's back by morning.

Everything I find says a topper won't save a worn out mattress. Mine isn't worn out. It's soft the way I bought it, and that case never comes up.

Does a firm topper actually hold you up over soft foam, or does it press in and do nothing? And is this a latex thing or a foam thing, because two inches of something soft sounds pointless. Queen, back sleeper, around 200. I've got about $250 for this.

Backstory; tech challenged mom of a kiddo who loves playing Fortnite, RDR, MineCraft and a few other games since she started playing about 2 years ago. We had an XBOX that was literally 10 years old that our older kids had used and left behind when they moved out. It died. We are now on her older siblings XBOX that is about 7 years old that he gave her and it is glitchy as heck. One of my sons said we should just switch to a PS5 that is the digital game version (?) as she adores playing SpiderMan on his PC. I want her to have access to all that she currently loves with some other games she would love like SpiderMan and Marvel Rivals but want to buy something that we will have for a while. It’s not an m1 but i’m using it for school, art and 3d modeling. When most 12.9 are 500+ or ipad only, this one comes with case and charger and minor blemishes for the cost. Absolutely worth it. They still have more on their ebay.

Last day of an estate sale, everything half off. I went in for a table saw that was already gone and walked out with this. Somebody replaced the cord and plug before me. Newer than everything else on it. I put some oil in it. Runs quieter than I expected for that much metal. The $30 plastic one it replaced is in the garbage.

It's on the bench in my shop for now. Wife has asked twice where I think it's going to live. Not sanding the rust off though.

Looking for an under desk treadmill I can walk on during calls, probably 3 to 4 hours a day at around 2 mph. My desk job went fully remote this spring and most of my meetings don't need me on camera, so the plan is to walk through them. The desk already goes up and down, so that part is handled.

The listings aren't helping. Horsepower seems to mean whatever the seller wants it to mean, and on the cheaper pads the reviews swing between love it at week two and motor died at month eight. I can't tell which number predicts anything. I had about $500 in mind. If that's fantasy for this kind of use I'd rather find out now than in eight months.

My no-name 1TB external SSD started dropping the connection mid-copy at 14 months, and now it won't mount at all. My emulator saves and a chunk of my Steam library were on it. The library I can redownload. The saves I hadn't synced anywhere. One copy, yeah, I know.

Went looking for a replacement and prices are not what I remember. I've got about $75 set aside. Last time that was a whole 1TB drive. Now it doesn't get close.

Prebuilt is what I'm after, I don't need an enclosure project right now. So which external SSD would you trust with saves you can't replace? Name the model.

An adjustable weight bench with a leg extension was the last thing I needed for the basement, and my old folding one used to shift under me on heavier incline sets. Once I started working leg extensions and curls into the routine it just wasn't cutting it anymore, and I wanted one bench that does flat, incline and decline and takes a real leg attachment without buying a separate machine. The Keppi Bench 3000 Max is what I ended up on, and the wobble problem is gone.

It's a full FID bench with a removable leg extension and curl piece plus a preacher pad. Getting the leg attachment on and off is three parts on hand screws, a couple minutes, not the instant pop-pin kind but quick enough between sets. An owner on r/homegym who came from a folding budget bench wrote it up in detail and called the difference night and day, which matched my own experience once I had it built.

A few honest catches. Shorter folks will find the leg curl range tight, one owner around 5 foot 5 said his ankles just barely reach the pad. Keppi also has some history, their older 5000 got flagged by Garage Gym Reviews for copying another design, though the 3000 Max is a separate newer bench. And it's heavy and doesn't fold, so decide where it lives before you build it.

For reference, the name everyone name-drops is the Ironmaster, which is great but pricier and not even sold on Amazon. On the cheaper end the Marcy SB-350 works for light accessory work, but its leg developer isn't rated for heavy loads. The Keppi sat in the middle and did everything I needed one bench to do.

My cap is $400 and I want to move up to 1440p from a 1080p 60Hz screen I've leaned on way too long, purely for gaming. I almost pulled the trigger on the AOC Q27G40XMN when I saw it around $180, but I kept seeing owners mention a local dimming bug, and I couldn't find it in stock anywhere I trust. The OLEDs I keep coming back to are over my budget.

I upgraded to a 55 inch Hisense U8 recently, mostly because my old TV was starting to feel really dated. I wasn’t trying to turn my living room into some crazy home theater setup, just wanted a TV that looked good for movies, sports, and normal streaming.

The U8's picture has that bright, rich look that makes everything seem more polished, especially 4K shows and movies. I had a few friends over last weekend and one of them asked if it was one of the expensive flagship models, which made me laugh lol

Daytime watching has been good too. My living room gets a decent amount of light, and the screen still has enough punch for sports and YouTube without needing to close everything up. At night, movies look really really good, especially darker scenes where my old TV used to look kind of flat.

For what I paid, the 55 inch U8 feels like a pretty strong value. Not saying everyone needs one, but it’s been a much bigger upgrade than I thought it would be.

My inkjet just wanted a cartridge set that costs about as much as a cheap laser printer, and I only print around 30 pages a month, mostly school forms and shipping labels. So what it costs to run matters more to me than what it costs to buy. I assume everyone is going to say Brother and I'm fine with that, but the model numbers are a maze and I keep seeing mixed reports about third party toner.
