Boost may be kind of gross, but the box is excellent.

Thank you so much to people who sent that nasty stuff from my Amazon wishlist. Thank god I only have to eat 150 grams of protein per day for another 4-6 weeks. It's not at all difficult for a vegetarian to get enough protein for regular daily life, as we don't actually need nearly as much as people who sell supplements say we do. But you actually do need that much to heal from major surgery, and that is a bit of a challenge.

I can tolerate the strawberry kind. Cats and boxes are a match made in heaven 🥰

I've had pairs of kittens twice before. Three is so much more intense, lol.

Have you ever tried taking a picture through paper towel or toilet paper roll? I bet the greybies would look fantastic!

I will have to try that. I use the trifold paper towels you find in public restrooms, but my friend who gave the graybies the late Lilly’s toys also brought over some paper towel and toilet paper tubes.

When I drink or cook with milk, I use A2, and I feel fine. But with this stuff I actually have to take a Lactaid tablet.

Part of me wants to just stop drinking it now that I have finished that case, because of how it disagrees with me. But I can tell by the clicking in my sternum that I still have healing to do.

What about Ensure instead of Boost? I've always thought it tasted better

Ensure bothers my stomach more.

Oh, bummer. They do make plant based protein drinks. Let me do a search for the name

Found it: it's called Owyn and I verified Amazon carries it. They have dairy free versions and plant based vegan versions

I appreciate that, but it costs twice as much. The Boost is fine if I take Lactaid, but the Ensure bothers me even if I do.

I’m not even lactose intolerant under normal circumstances. I drink A2 milk all the time with no issues, and eat products made with A1. I assume it’s just the heavy concentration of whey.

I know they are. Put them on your Amazon wishlist and I'll get you some. Your healing is important!

Thank you, that’s very kind of you.

It’s so frustrating that I’m still having to be so careful, because of how my sternum is clicking.

I still can’t believe my neighbor who volunteered to help, saying she owed me because Ticket brought her out of a deep depression, fucking ditched me. That’s why this is happening. I have to violate my sternal restrictions to some degree just to do the bare minimum to get through the day.

I know. Personally, I'd love to slap her on your behalf, but it's not gonna change anything or help. I'll take care of that wishlist item tonight 💕

I’d like to slap her on my behalf, but that would REALLY violate the sternal restrictions, lol.

I couldn’t open my sideways sliding windows for the first month, because that particular motion is the worst possible thing. I feel bad for my landlord, as I know he got stuck with an absolutely insane power bill from me running the AC 24/7, even when it wasn’t that hot.

But I finally figured out if I attached a C clamp to the window and ran bike straps through it, I could open and close them using my body weight. I have three of those straps looped around the portable dishwasher so I can roll it to and from the sink.

Look up Kate Farms shakes on Amazon. When I was in chemo, that's one of the only things I could handle. Great nutrition and you can choose vegan or milk based, I think. The ones I get are 300 calories per shake. Great for when people are on GLP too, as I am.

If they are too expensive, DM me a mailing address and I will have some sent to you, just tell me which one you want to try. It's a gift. I will include something for the kitties too. A care package from our house to yours. I know what it is like to lose your soul cat. I lost my Maggie in January. I have watched your journey and have grieved with you. You are not alone.

Oh god, I had the Kate Farms in the hospital. I had to force myself to choke it down. I very much appreciate the thought, but that stuff made me queasy for a different reason, lol.

I imagine it’s different when you’re on chemo, though. Like I think Gatorade is disgusting, but if I am sick, suddenly it tastes great. That kind of flip flop is pretty common. I hope your chemo went well!

They started giving me the Boost instead after it was clear that my blood sugar was stable. It can sometimes go totally haywire after major surgery.

I’m so sorry you lost your sweet Maggie.
