I actually met the pilot of this heli at the grocery store last week, I saw him in uniform and asked him what he flew, I showed him some pictures and he said he flew in this one!! I saw it again today and took better pictures!

Hey team, working on sling training currently - head out the door at 60kts ripped my A30s clean off my head, and fed my old raybans to some seagulls.

Doors on, the clamping force is no issue, but I'm pretty concerned at this happening again - any suggestions?

I'm leaning towards a sports headband or similar to lock them in place.

So when we talk about service ceilings of aircrafts is it given in terms of Pressure altitude or Density Altitude ? Ive come across two aircrafts, one mentioning it in terms of PA and one in terms of DA

So which is the correct datum for measuring it ? From what i can understand is thay DA is better since it will give you the correct capability of the aircraft as it factors in density. The issue is why you have aircrafts mentioning it as PA.?

Also will you cross the service ceiling of the aircraft in case the task requires? From my experience we have crossed the ceiling multiple times due to the nature of the task. What can be the dangers in doing so ?

the coast of Rumson country club, and it kept on landing

So I’m 25 and looking to pivot I have an desk based engineering degree that I haven’t used as I’ve been travelling. I’m from the uk. I absolutely love adventure sports such as surfing rock climbing mountain biking and scuba diving and want to do these sports all over the world. I just simply don’t agree with having 4 weeks off a year and that being it. I think I want a hard high paying hands on career that gives me decent blocks of time off and money to do all these things. I would also like to work with like minded outdoor adventure folk!

My options so far.

Helicopter mechanic - 3 years + training and can maybe look at rotational / seasonal roles.

Marine engineers. 3 years as cadet and then can get a rotational roles maybe? I’m worried I won’t like the people on this.

Can anyone give me insights into these field or others that have allowed you to live an awesome life.

This is the first time I've seen this thing fly, and I knew from the sound of the blades it has to be a Huey way before I could see the actual thing. Super cool and we were all (literally) blown away! The sound was so extremely cool as well.

This was actually another provider's helo, so I had to escort them through our facility since they were unfamiliar with it. But as a bonus, I got to watch them start up and takeoff afterwards.

Currently rotting on a tarmac doing helitack prepo bored out of my mind. Got into a stupid debate with our pilot. I’m totally open to being wrong and curious what y’all out there think. My understanding is that the word Huey is an unofficial nickname originating from military members turning uh-1 into Huey and it stuck. I’ve also always interpreted the name Huey as kind of an unofficial umbrella term for the overall family of bell’s helicopters stemming from the Iroquois. Within reason and kind of vibes based, (204/205/210) I wouldn’t call a 412 a Huey because it’s just too different. Aside from civilian designations I know there are differences between these and the uh-1, they just seem pretty minor overall. The pilots view is that name Huey belongs to the uh-1 and only that model. Anyone who calls a 205 a Huey sounds like a total bagger and doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Unless my overall view is inaccurate, this seems pretty subjective and vibes based. My overall question to y’all out there is how do you feel about this? Is this debatable? Where do you draw the line? Do you sound silly if you call a 205 a Huey among pilots or aviation folks? Does it maybe depend on your sector (military, fire, commercial)? This is dumb but I need clarity.

The pilot said the helicopter from the last image (with the fieldworker taking a knee) was their favourite to fly, thing was like a 'corvette'.
