Reminder: Weekend-Only Political Posts Begin Today

Hey everyone,

As a reminder, the community-voted change is now in effect.

Starting today, political posts are only allowed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Today marks the beginning of the Week 1 soft enforcement period of the 30-day trial.

What That Means:

  • Political posts made Monday–Friday will be removed.
  • Removals during this first week are reminder-based.
  • No punishments for honest mistakes.

Beginning next week, standard enforcement will apply.

Weekends are defined as 12:00 AM Saturday through 11:59 PM Sunday Eastern Time (ET).

This rule was chosen by community vote and is being implemented as a 30-day trial. We’ll reassess after the trial period.

If you’re unsure whether your post qualifies as political, please review the definition in the JU rule #11.

Those posts currently in the queue regarding politics will be approved. Any posts following this will be removed until Saturday.

Thanks for helping keep the sub balanced.

Mildly Annoyed Just unsubbed from standardissuecat for allowing AI images

A comment showed proof of this post being AI, so people reported the post. Mods refused to do anything about it and instead removed the comment with proof and blocked new reports.

Slightly Furious Just unsubbed from the marching band sub

I posted a vent post about my college MB, which I’m having a bit of a love/hate relationship with as a freshman. Long story short, I like it but it's a bit more than a bargained for and am worried about burnout/time management with other activities. I shared my story and someone left a rude comment basically saying it's your own fault and you need to deal with it and a few other things. Their comment was also pretty aggressive. I never said anything about quitting mid-semester, I was just venting and saying that I may take a year or 2 break before I return. They basically acted like I was the bad guy because I felt frustrated and just needed to vent and see if anyone else felt similar. I’ve seen similar comments in the sub before, They sometimes act like it's a crime when people want to leave band. Like I enjoy marching band, my life just doesn't revolve around it like some of the people in that sub. Sigh.

Mildly Annoyed JU From BritishProblems because even a complaint about bus services apparently breaks the rules.

A slightly swearier version referencing the specific laws in question was removed so I resubmitted the milder version seen here, which was instantly removed.

Frankly, being gouged on taxi fare because the buses finish unreasonably early on a Bank Holiday seems like a quintessentially British problem.

Holy shit the partisan bias is real; and the mod team keeps on banning people who speak out against this bias, as well as denial of human rights abuses by certain anti-American regimes!

Totally Outraged JU from SonicTheHedgejerk, they just turned a funny sub into a hate sub.

I really can't know the reasons why Sonic gets hated a lot by a few gamer groups but can't believe that some of fans on Reddit are really taking IGN reviews too seriously and then they post about how bad Sonic is. Yeah I can agree that Sonic has an identity crisis as he turned from a Japanese game console mascot to an American icon around teenagers but Sonic can't be hated a lot cuz he's an little talking hedgehog who wants to save world at no costs, even though universes change around him. I totally blame Sega for their mismanagement by the way and I really hope they dump Sonic cuz Sega is literally has nothing for Sonic right now.

Slightly Furious Just unsubbed from nvidia subreddit

This isn't just a one and done moment... this happens multiple times on this subreddit, but these people actually think generally DLSS and Frame generation are "good" for the most stupidest reasons. Both are just a justification for developers to make half assed products released too early, poor optimization relying heavily on both DLSS and Frame generation

Worse is I can't even switch to AMD cards, because it's the same story over there, and the same scenario with those graphics cards.

This isn't even just a "me" opinion, there are tons of people who are done with this PC culture of allowing the bare minimum. Games used to be optimized! It's a lost art now, and it's made people like me just play older more optimized games rather than dealing with these people.

In case any of you don't know what DLSS/FG are. DLSS is basically an upscaler, rendering the game at a lower resolution, and then upscaling using Deep Learning Super Sampling, to make it look good. It does a good job, but there are multiple scenarios where it's objectively worse than native. FG is basically taking framerates and doubling them by basically bluring two frames together to make a "new frame" which does basically nothing since it's basically guessing. So if the game runs at 30fps internally, you'd think that would make it the same a native 60fps, but not really. it's still the same framerate in essence

Sorry for the yap, but some things need to be explained (also rule 1)

edit: please stop defending DLSS and FG. DLSS I can get for an older GPU so you can run games more smoothly, but for a modern GPU? absolutely not, you shouldn't require DLSS to get good performance. Meanwhile FG is literally pointless, there are no benefits besides tricking your brain into thinking it's "smoother" when the point of a higher FPS is better reaction times

POLITICAL (Weekends only) Just unsubbed from space

Too many Musk fanboys in that sub defending Elon Musk and his starship. Whenever I question when this rocket will even have a successful launch while SLS had two successful launches they immediately come to defend the man. You can't criticise the guy whether it's for his views or his starship in that sub. I hope I get good alternative to that sub.

Slightly Furious JU from PCMR Subreddit.

PCMR has got to be one of the worst Subreddits for computers ever, i got clowned on for using Windows 10, literally, i use Windows 8.1, and they clowned me because i was using a Windows 10 version from 2019, and forcing me to upgrade to Windows 11. Isn't that stupid? And the whole subreddit is just toxic ngl.

Literally 80% of the posts you will see on the Subreddit are just garbage. People literally just post the most random shit on it, and when people get mad in the comments, they get all defensive. Don't get me wrong, the Sub has its moments and has some really good illusions. But, it's just not enough to save the Sub.

PS: Sub to blackmagicfuckery instead

Totally Outraged Just unsubbed from maliciouscompliance

This includes unsubbing, and also leaving the mod team, so Idk if this fits JU, but hopefully it's ok.
I loved this sub for a really long time. I've had reddit for 6 years, and that sub was one of my favourites.
I became more active on reddit around a year ago, and I started subscribing to more subs, and even became a mod on some of them.
Well, I ended up becoming a mod on maliciouscompliance.

I really liked the sub and just hoped that I could help them out.
I got added as a mod the same day as another user, and I realised that said user (I will call them Greg for the sake of storytelling) was active a lot on the sub, accepting posts, removing posts, deleting comments that broke rules and stuff, and I just brushed past it.
I was still learning how to do the job as a mod, since it was my first big sub, so I didn't want to interfere in much, but then I realised that a lot of users were complaining through modmail about their posts and comments being deleted for no reason, and one of the most common reason was the user commenting that a post sounds like AI, and then Greg was the one deleting those comments and even banning people for calling out clearly AI generated posts.

And YES, there is a rule on the sub that says that you should not question the validity of the post, because fake posts happens all over reddit, and that there is nothing you can do about it. And the rule does say to not call posts AI, and that you are gonna be banned for doing so, and that you should just report it.
Well, they would report it, and Greg would just accept the post, and ban people that were commenting about it, even if their comment was simply "this doesn't actually work that way" from someone who did the thing mentioned on the post.

There were so many messages on modmail about Greg's actions, and some of the messages were like 20 days old.
I responded to some of them and started investigating Greg, and I realised that he used to be a user that would talk shit on people calling stuff AI, and then would delete their own comments after the post was deleted for being AI.

Now you ask me, what were the other mods older than you doing? Well, nothing. I couldn't contact the only mod that had everything permissions and could remove Greg, because their chat was closed, and obviously I didn't want to just modmail and be like "hi guys, greg sucks", so I tried contacting another mod under the topmod, and they messaged me back saying that they gave up on the sub because the topmod was useless.
How fun for one-month-old-mod-me, right?
I contacted mod assistance, and they basically told me the only thing that could be done was for the mod who said they gave up on modding, to contact them and ask for everything permissions.
Yes, the only thing possible was for the mod who said they want nothing to do with it, to do something about it, because I was a mod for only a month, therefore I couldn't get everything permissions.

I also did message all the mods regarding the activity in the sub because the only two mods that I saw doing something on the sub were literally Greg, me, and another mod who would just casually accepted a post here and then.
I know it was only a month, but I just felt like the mods literally didn't care, and that mod assistance wasn't actually willing to do anything about it.

So I left the mod team, and unsubbed, because I want nothing to do with a sub that accepts 10 AI posts a day, and silences people for calling it out.
Now, the sub is literally just AI slop all over, and it just pisses me off that I literally wasted a month of my life trying to get it back to what it was before Ai took over. (I am exagerating a bit, I am furious, but let it serve as a lesson to not try to fix something people don't want fixed lol)

Obligatory English is not my first language, so if there are any horrible grammar mistakes, please call me out.

Joined the subreddit, thinking it would be a good one, where people lift others up. It’s bloody Reddit man, what was I thinking 🤣 was just full of insecure people, who aren’t content with themselves, and consequently try to pull others down for their appearance. Did my part, and always tried to tell people to ignore them, and point out the beauties in people. However, I find myself getting annoyed at these vile people trying to tear others down. Can’t believe some subreddits exist. Reddit is unhinged.

Had a lovely back and forth with someone, but realised I’m just wasting my time, so I’m ignoring him now.

It's just yet another example of a person who gives reddit mods a bad name. My post was meant to be a good natured, funny post. That's it. Nothing sexual, rude, gory, or hate filled etc. I messaged them to ask if my post can be approved. I was very courteous and said please and thank you. I was told no. Didn't give a reason or anything. When I asked why not, I was totally ignored. I have no problem with posts being removed if given a legitimate reason. Some people just should not be allowed to moderate on reddit. Here is the mod mail and the post. It's just meant to be a funny image post for a laugh. I hate bad moderation.

Mildly Annoyed Just unsubbed from LadyGaga. It’s turned into a major stan page where anything that comes off as slightly critical will get your posts locked

Kind of expected tbh but still annoying. Always been a big fan of her and like talking about her work but now anyone gets shut down if it’s even slightly coming off as criticism.

Ended up banning me and perm muting me saying I’m “trolling” and making “bad contributions” when I haven’t even posted lately and the posts I have mad have received hundred of upvotes.

So embarrassing to act like that over a Reddit page lol
