Hi, everyone! ☘️🐸🌲🌱🌳🦎🐉🧩🛶🪀🎋🫑
This sub is amazing for reccs so here I am with my hyperspecific yet broad search for a movie like this. I have searched the sub before posting, don’t worry, but what drew me away from many of the reccs around this vibe were that they had crime or horror at the center of the plot (I’m looking at you, Memoirs of a Murderer👀 great movie by the way) or are set in urban areas/cities with brief nature interludes.
I like those but I’ve had my fill of crime for now and I want to explore more abstract filmmaking that doesn’t necessarily have a thrilling, fast-paced plot to keep viewers watching or entertained.
I am tired of the heatwave where I live and I need a movie to transport me to the opposite climate: muddy,
forested,
gloomy,
dark,
overcast,
green (Viridian green, for example),
chilly,
wet,
windy,
foggy,
moody,
rural.
As for genre, I’m not looking for any:
action movies,
thriller,
horror,
crime,
sci-fi.
Genre that fit my request include:
psychological mysteries (no gore or police),
dramas,
melodramas,
realism,
romance,
fantastical/whimsical,
comedy (dark comedy, especially),
adventure,
neo-noir,
nonlinear narratives,
historical fiction,
art house,
intellectual,
indie,
minimalist,
supernatural,
contemplative,
SLICE OF LIFE!
Slow-paced is fine. Semi-mythical is fine. Wordy is fine. Woman-directed is great.
Not a Korean movie but an example of this kind of movie: Vision (2018), Japanese movie, woman-directed. The trailer. The cinematography is excellent but the narrative is lacking, not fully flesh out, in this specific movie. It has supernatural elements but not sci-fi.
