The oh-woe-is-me farmers are completely out of pocket

The video attached, by #BlackbirdCoop aka FarmingWhileBiege breaks down the side of the farming industry that they don't want you to know. While there may be some mom and pop farmers, who are struggling, those farmers are few and far between.

They were warned and warned time and again—and did not listen. I didn't want this for them, but I guess they did?

That said, he's right—many still have their assets, crop/livestock insurance, and will be just fine.

The MOST frustrating part is that they will not learn from this.

Institutional Dems are the reason we’re in this position in the first place, they’ve undermined their own party since 2016. Favoring Hillary over Bernie, if they don’t adapt, they probably won’t last. (Considering the emergence of democratic socialist, the democrats are too moderate too bring people out to polls)

Side note, both republicans and democratic parties look shaky, have been for about 10 years.
I’d argue either their coalitions are getting too large, causing disorganization or, we’re currently witnessing as the interests of US citizens is sold in an effort to appease the private businesses, organizations, and donors that have lobbied their ways to tax cuts.

If the US is unlikely to change course from the 2 party system… then perhaps a potential third party is likely to emerge.
How much longer can we sustain subsidizing these huge corporations to degrade our infrastructure?
Why can’t these huge corporations pay their employees enough for healthcare? Both the employees and the business (Walmart) are already being subsidized.

I keep saying this. Project 2025+ is what people should be upset about. Trump and almost everything related to him, Epstein files included, is a distraction.

He personally delivers a constant feed of Idiocy and embarrassment and shameless corruption which keeps everyone painfully entertained.

Nixon laid the groundwork for legal segregationism (e.g. if you can't criminalize the people, criminalize their habits). Reagan added a layer of economics (e.g. if you can't discriminate racially, discriminate socio-economically). Trump is just the latest in line to build on this framework, his "contribution" is hyper-strictness on administrative status. If you can't deport based on origins, deport based on paperwork (that natives never have to fill in). It's all part of the same push. And project 2025 is literally just a bunch of follow ups on all of this. It's reminiscent of this one, but for America.

Yes, I believe it wholeheartedly. He's a useful idiot because he's a narcissist in some stage of dementia, that's why his political focus centers heavily on grievance, loyalty, and personal brand rather than detailed legislative drafting

I don't know if JD Vance will go anywhere. He has almost negative charisma, though he's better at playing the religious angle. I have no idea who they'll pick when Trump has filled his last diaper, but likely someone with at least _some_ populist charisma – I'm guessing a media personality of some sort.

They are very similar when you think about their impact in terms of noise, pollution, water usage, etc.

Honestly, beef farms dying off would be great for the health of Americans, both in terms of the environmental impact and also just eating less of it.

I say this as someone who LOVES a good ribeye or beef ribs or burger etc. etc. But I eat way less of it than I used to, and I don't miss it nearly as much as I thought I would.

With the drought here in Colorado we’re being told don’t water your lawn, rivers and lakes are so low there’s emergency fish salvages everywhere, swimming pools are closing, and yet 80-90% of the states water goes to agriculture—alfalfa farms to feed cattle for beef ranchers.Subsidized of course.

NGL, the whole "lawn" obsession in America, if we truly have water shortages, I'd be happy to see go.

Like, growing green stuff like trees and the like is good and all, but the amount of resources put into lawns by Americans, as well as various weed killers and other stuff, is just a crazy unnecessary amount. Same goes for the energy put into Christmas lights, that are going to get super expensive with Data centers pulling away all the energy for free.

Both those things are just so taken for granted as normal and good, but done on a massive scale like in America are actually extremely wasteful and unhealthy, so I'd be fine seeing both die.

Just would really prefer it wasn't to prop up an AI industry for free, and because it was the the right thing to do.

I just got a home in FL, and the HOA has rules about keeping your lawn green, that shit is so stupid. Phase III drought regulations are in effect, but you may get a fine if the grass starts turning brown!

(P.S. Not a MAGAt nor Conservative, proud DemSoc that just happens to live in Trumperville, MAGApotamia, U.S.)

They've been gladly accepting government checks for decades without saying much. Then Reagan and his crew mainstreamed term "welfare queen" to disprage urban minorities as those taking from the system, that they didn't deserve assistance and those rural whites ate it up. Even the farmer who themselves were getting assistance but to them, they earned it. They were "gods country" so to speak.

Also --- um as someone who grew up in farms in the south, hate to break it to her but this is ALWAYS the time of year we had to feed more because the graze lands are dead.... Yes I believe in global warming, and I'm not opening that up to anything here, but July-Sept is drought times in the south and has been all 40yrs I've been alive....

Yes exactly, if you're a grass fed operation and your buying hey in August in the south, your overstocked as all get out. Also it's only been a few weeks without much rain, I'd hardly call this a drought. This is normal late summer climate here.

His stupid tariffs caused farmer suicides and bankruptcies to skyrocket in his first term and he campaigned on Tariffs Electric Bugaloo.

So it's really rich they are making surprised pikachu face over the fact that the guy who campaigned on screwing them over is screwing them over just like he said he would.
