I just completed the making of my solid walnut cabinet for my 2c rig, custom designed by me to properly fit all the separates.

The project started with raw walnut slabs and going through all the motions of milling, sanding, fitting, glueing, more sanding..., oiling, and finally...completion.

The cabinet has an integrated, 6" deep cable chase so most cables and interconnects stay within the cabinet itself. The cable chase also makes it much easier to reach the back panels of all the gear, not least because the top is floating and easily removed for full access from above.

Gear is a Rega Naia tt with an Apheta 2 cartridge, an Allnic H-3000H tube phono stage, the Antipodes K41 server and K22 streamer, a MolaMola Tambaqui DAC, a Trinnov ST2 Pro DSP, an Audio Research Reference 10 linestage, Pass Labs Xa100.8 monoblocks, Opera Grand Callas speakers, and two JL Audio 112 subwoofers.

This is my listening space in my dorm at the college I go to, it‘s not much but the whole setup cost me about as much as one vinyl record, hah. Speakers were a gift from a friend, who bought em 12 bucks each, the turntable and amp were 15 from a yard sale (the turntable was broken, I fixed it with a piece of paper and some gorilla tape, and the amp’s volume knob makes sounds whenever I move it) and the beanbag chair was found on the side of the road. Sounds good enough and I get noise complaints every once and a while so i love it. I also have 2 roommates and they plan on bringing over their records to listen too here as well. I think it needs some posters and like some cool lighting. What do yall think?

Bought my 3 bed new build here in Yorkshire in late 2024, and the second bedroom was the last room to get decorated, which I’ve just finished putting back together today.

It was a bit of an unloved space before, really. It mainly housed my wardrobe, Concept2 and all the other random crap I didn’t have room for elsewhere in the house.

I’ve managed to free up quite a bit of space elsewhere and get a lot of stuff packed away into storage, so I decided to give this room a proper purpose and turn it into a late ’70s/early ’80s listening space.

The main bit of kit is my B&O Beosystem 5000 stack system with a Beogram 5005, paired with a set of Beovox S45-2 speakers. I’ve also got a Beovision MX2000 TV and recently picked up a Beovision 8 32-inch for the grand total of £10, so at that price I had to have it even though it is a more modern LCD TV.

An online buddy of mine is also sending me a B&O DVD-1, so it’ll soon double up as a nice little space for watching DVD movies as well as sitting back and listening to music.

I know the colour probably won’t be to everyone’s taste, but I wanted to go for something a bit different and something that had a proper 70s feel to it. I wasn’t completely sure about it when I first started painting it on (it looked quite awful wet), but now it’s all dried and the room is back together, I really like it lol.

System is paired to a set of Beovox S45-2 Speakers on B&O floor stands. The last photo is a quick before what it looked like just over a week ago.

Still a few tweaks I really need to get some more wall art and a few more indoor plants, but feel like I have made good progress so far.

First off, please dont mind the cardboard by the records. I am building something to create a barrier from the window. Currently down due to trying to remove my finger with a tablesaw. I do have a ecobee sensor there to watch temp and its been stable.

I have a few items coming in to hide all of the wires because they are driving me nuts. The worst part is finding a chair to replace the Ikea one that will match my 1960's swivel chair.

I plan on upgrading everything slowly and moving the speakers and receiver into the livingroom. I should be buying the svs 1000 pro next month, I just have no idea where i will be putting it. Also, I need to buy a isolation base for the record player. I can hear the transfer of my footsteps and that being the downside to moving into a home with wood floors and pier and beam.

But, right now, I am loving it all

Just replaced the old U-Turn with the Denon DP-3000ne. Loving it so far.

Vinyl user here.. Still trying to find the right speakers/positions and how to do the cable management in my rack.

Built the cabinet with my dad and built an app to showcase my record collection inside an old 1950s Philco TV!

Got a new 3D printer and built a matching rack for my Fosi Audio stack as well as the desktop accessories for my shop system.

Hello, looking for some orientation and treatment input on a new listening space.

I have a couple other systems in different spaces and they all have their plus/minus and I've never really spent a lot of time treating them as the setups are really forced by the nature the living spaces and not having many options.

In this new space, I have freedom to do whatever I want, so looking for your inputs to help me dial it in. It's a loft, with not much in it besides a couch and a couple lamps and end tables. The walls are mostly bare and floors have a couple small rugs but mostly bare.

The sound is kinda boom-y and not tight. It's not terrible but I know if can be better. I've included a schematic image of the dimensions.

Loft stairs enter on the South end, and the loft wall at ~3' high, above which opens to the big 2-story open living space below.

I'm the circle and I'm currently placed facing east.

There's sort of a cavernous sloping ceiling, which slopes pretty low behind me. And which has a 16" Glue-Lam beam running across which sort of breaks up the ceiling peak.

I'm ready to start treating the room with panels, etc. Before I invest in this effort, I'm looking for input mostly on: Is there some strong reason to set up the listening orientation in a different direction? I like facing East as the view out the windows is nice. But I could change if it'll improve the outcome. I imagine the acoustics will be very different depending on which wall I place the speakers against, so mostly looking for input as to whether they should be on a different wall (hoping to keep them as they are.)

After that, it's: what treatments should I start with? I'm a novice at the treatment stuff.

edit: just for fun: currently running a SL1700-Mk1 turntable through a Sony STR-GX80ES and Lintons. Tomorrow I'm taking possession of a new-to-me SoundCraftsmen system: A2502 amp with DX4200 pre-amp. Stoked to get that in the room and may swap in either my old Klipsch Quartets or Polk M7
