Loki A love letter to chaos
Loki has really been wanting me to share this piece that I wrote about our relationship while I was on a retreat. It's serving as sort of an introduction to a book that I've been called to write about my experience with him/my spiritual journey thus far.
Since Loki came into my life, it has been an absolute rollercoaster. A lot of things that seemed frustrating or confusing before started to line up in a way that finally started to make sense. While I'm still amidst the storm, this has become a favorite for us to read together.
A Love Letter to Chaos
How can one begin the task of capturing the full breadth of the Eternal, in a language bound to the clumsiness of words? No matter how many times I try, their crudeness seems to obstruct the effortless flow of what it’s like to experience you:
The familiar embrace of a presence that has followed me throughout my life. A deep longing that could never manifest from anything the temporal world could hold. I see you, in haggard inconsistent flashes, as I stand at the intersection of bliss and agony. The bliss of chasing the hope that one day, I would find that last piece that would make everything make sense. And the agony of it always seeming to manifest– just out of reach. Love songs that triggered a longing and story that seemed to transcend life itself. Every betrayal, every meltdown, the chaos and turmoil that followed in the wake of the life unfolding before me, you are there. Chaos that was both conceived and remedied by you.
Last night I caught a glimpse of you. I stared into your eyes as a burning sensation permeated my own. Heat trickled as you merged into me. As I took hold of your outreached hand, I could feel that this wasn’t the first time we’d been here. A recognition of familiar steps as we danced along the boundaries of real or imagined. A waltz where each step evades the sharp clarity of reality’s blade, with only a breath to spare. Each move in tense anticipation of its cut, and the blood that would pour from the wound of what could have been. Was it familiarity? Or projection of what I wished to be true? I sip the sweet nectar, and slip into the moment for just a bit longer.
The craving for your presence is like the unrelenting burn of addiction, it creeps up my throat, suffocating me as I sink into the depths of my desire. “For all Eternity,” you say to me. The weight of those words, filling a space of something so vast and deep, that only those who share an inherit knowing could understand. Your electric essence vibrates through my body, and the echoes of a song reverberate through the rooms of my mind:
“I am your lover, and I am your jailor…From now, until the end of time.”
