Looking collection of small icons as pattern

Hello everyone,

We're new to the hobby and are currently looking for some collection of small images and icons with limited detail which can just be added to garments. Mainly floral and childlike is what we are thinking of.

Where can we download some or buy from a trusted source who don't just AI generate them?

I Have Questions! New To Machine Embroidery

I snapped up a Husqvarna Viking Designer Diamond and a Designer Diamond deLuxe for a grand total of $75 USD. Both were trade-ins; the DD appeared in excellent condition with most of the presser feet, hard case, foot pedal, power cord, and under-arm storage. The deLuxe was in rough shape, came with nothing, and was thought to have a bad CPU, per their service folks

I tested the DD, and it sewed beautifully. The deLuxe powered up with a borrowed cord and foot pedal, but the display was wonky, and it sewed, but not quite as it should (See photo. Red = deLuxe, green = DD). The display had a loose connection, and after a very thorough cleaning, the sewing issue turned out to be a mechanical repair for another day.

With the addition of two bargain embroidery arms, one for "parts only" that works perfectly but has minor cosmetic damage, both machines embroider nicely.

In addition to the two Vikings, they threw in a Singer QuantumLock 4, a Baby Lock Blind Hemmer, and a Janome Sew Precise, all in working order. Trust me when I say I was having a fantastic day!

Now to my questions:

  1. I want to easily digitize my custom designs, but on the cheap. I know basic Illustrator/Affinity, and use an M4 MacBook Pro. I downloaded Ink Stitch, but haven't a clue as to how it works.
  2. What are your favorite resources for learning how to use these machines and obtaining designs?
  3. I could use some additional hoops. Will budget brands do, or is OEM the only way to go? Sources?
  4. Any hints as to what is causing the deLuxe's issues? I don't think it's a stepper motor problem, but it definitely can't form any stitches that require side-to-side movement, especially when combined with reverse movement. Straight stitching forward and reverse is fine. (see photo)

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Embroidered Tattoo Banner

I recently created this large banner for a tattoo artist, this is my favourite kind of work as it combines art with embroidery. I always share updates with clients regularly when working on a bespoke order, and show them what I suggest we improve. How do you handle bespoke projects? Do you limit the amount of edits a client can make? I would love to know if I can improve my service.

Thanks!

Need opinions- is there a general interest in a device for older machines with no built-in WiFi for wireless design transfers that would allow you to do so? It would replace the need to use a cable to your computer or a thumb drive to upload designs

My machine is older and doesn't have WiFi and with its location, plugging a cable from the machine to my computer wasn't really feasible and transferring a thumb drive back and forth was getting tedious.
I'm pretty tech savvy so I did some research and ended up ! buying a Raspberry Pi that I programmed to connect to my computer via WiFi. I keep the Pi plugged into the machine and now I can just transfer my designs to a folder on my computer and it wirelessly uploads them to my machine.
It's a complete game changer!!
I feel like this would be super useful for others and I want to potentially sell the software so you could buy a Pi (sold separately from Amazon or Raspberry Pi directly) and the software for like $45 to just do a quick install. However, creating a software package would require some extra legwork on my end and if there's not really an interest or market for it, I won't waste time on it. There are other options like the Embroidery Connect device but they are usually upwards of $300.
So what do you all think? Is this something worth pursuing?

Looking for a machine

I know this is asked probably way to much like every form when it comes to production machines. But I’m looking for a single head embroidery machine doesn’t have to be 20 needles. My budget is definitely under $10k but I would like to honestly be in the under $7k realm or less.
I got quotes on the following
Ricoma Swift 15 - listed price
Happy 701p - $9.5k to door
SWF Mas12 - $7.8k to door
Smartstitch 1201P- listed price
BAI Mirror- listed

I currently run a small business outside of my actual day to day job primarily focused on patches and hats using leather or leatherette and laser engraving. I run a one laser XRF and F2 Ultra. ( not sure why I listed those but just for context I guess)

I am located literally 27 minutes from the ricoma headquarters in Miami so that probably the only reason they are still on my list. Everything listed is with a hat drive as well. There is a market for embroidery with my current clients and market

I am not new to sewing but I am new to embroidery but like to believe I am pretty handy and able to fix things.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Budget is honestly my highest priority! The used market in my area is flooded with early 2000s happy machines and ricomas. Little to none tajimas, swf, barudan, etc

Looking for the best hat embroidery machine under 10k

I have a patch hat business that has been pretty successful and I am looking to purchase my first embroidery machine to be able to sell embroidered hats. I will most likely start with a single head and hopefully purchase more in the future. I will be doing 3d Puff as well as some other more detailed embroidery on hats like fish logos and designs. What machines would yall recommend for primarily hat focused? I’ve looked at the Bai Vision and it looks pretty solid, but I want y’all’s opinions. Obviously the price does not have to be 10k. It can be much cheaper if the cheaper machines still preform well. Thanks for the advice!

Built an auto-digitizer, but I've never actually sewn anything with it

I've been building a tool that turns a logo into a machine file. DST, PES, EXP, JEF, VP3. It's not for sale and there's no website.

It keeps each colour separate, ties off every thread, doesn't jump across the design, and nothing goes over a 4mm stitch. I compared it against a properly digitized file and the numbers land in about the same place. I also ran the free online converters on the same logos. Mine covers a lot more of the artwork — one of them left half a shield with no stitches on it at all.

The problem is I don't own a machine, so none of this has ever been sewn. I have no idea if it puckers.

If anyone has a logo they don't mind me using, I'll digitize it for free. All five formats plus a sheet with the thread numbers. All I want back is a photo of how it came out and what you'd change. Honest criticism is the whole point.

Melco Bravo - Selector Timeout Trying To Find Home Position

My Melco Bravo machine is having the "Selector Timeout Trying To Find Home Position". I've gone through all the steps online, and it's telling me to contact technical support.

I was just wondering if anyone has any experiences with this or fixes they've tried before I contact support?

Artspira app not logging in

When I try to log in, it gets stuck on this screen saying “preparing”. Eventually I get this error message M132001. I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling the app, turning my phone off and back on, creating a new account, turning the WiFi off and back on, deleting my cookies under settings… basically anything I can think of. Has anyone had this problem? Is the app just temporarily down?

Suggestions for a gift

hi everyone! my partner (35M) has mentioned multiple times that he’d love to get an embroidery machine so that he can design his own shirts and such.

i want to get him a machine for his birthday. noting that this is simply a hobby, and at that a brand new one, what are some machine recs that would be good for a beginner hobbyist? my max is like $600 - is that unrealistic/ should I just plan for a different birthday gift?

A whole mess

Post image
1 Upvotes

So my whole design this evening was a mess ultimately culminating a snapped needle. I think the material I am using is too thick for my machine- but the most frustrating part was when I got to the text and it started out messy and horrible, and then just smoothed itself out. Any suggestions on how to fix and why it would have smoothed out? I use embrilliance and I’ve found that on fonts that I buy in a cheap etsy pack, I have issues, but with the embrilliance fonts I always have a pretty good stitch out. This is an embrilliance font but I’m still having this problem. Any recommendations?

Still having nesting issues

Thumbnail gallery

Husqvarna Viking ruby deluxe. Going through the hatch shading course. At first, I thought it was an auto cutter problem so I turned it off and now I’m manually trimming all cuts, which is annoying but it would have less nesting . Sometimes things embroidered out fine, I’ve messed with the tension quite a bit and still can’t get it perfect.

Seems like it’s a problem with the first few stitches of each object. I’ve also tried pulling the bobbin thread up and holding the threads until it completes the first few stitches, and that seems to help a lot but do I really have to do that for every object? Any advice?

I need help digitizing a design for embroidery.

In my country, Artspira doesn’t allow me to pay for a subscription, so I can’t use the “Image to Embroidery” feature. Is there anyone who can help me digitize a logo, or is there an online option that actually works?

Lock Error on Elna

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’m running into an issue with my Elna machine. It originated when I got some thread stuck under the fabric, but I’ve since cleared that, removed the bobbin and its cover, brushed it out, and changed the needle.

I’m not really sure what’s causing it still to lock. Any advice?
