Yeah until someone comes in and says 'oh we moved into a condo so no space, better put him to sleep'

That's how my dad and his gf at that time ended up getting a cat. The GF was a veterinary nurse and someone brought in his cat saying that they didn't want him anymore and to put him down. Spud (the cat) bless him was covered in fleas and Dad's gf ended up falling in love with him over the week leading up to the day of Spud being put down after defleaing and caring for him.

She called my dad and explained the situation, and asked if she could bring him home.

My dad said "of course, didn't even need to ask".

We had Spud for about 6 years, absolute gem of a cat. Such a big gentle soul and it's been years since he passed but I still miss him

My friend is a vet and has collected a herd of dogs by having people who come in doing this sign them over to her instead. She’s also responsible for getting quite a few of those animals homed with her friends and family

No a quite literal description of an event that has happened thousands of times.

And that's how I got a new condo for free.
