Odd power outage. Says 237 affected but only my building and the one beside us seem to be affected on my block.

Malden has received a grant of $500,000 from the Adelaide Breed Bayrd Foundation to build a boathouse at the Malden River Works Park which is set to open this October at 356 Commercial Street. 🌿🚣
“This funding is critical to the completion of the Malden River Works project, which will finally provide Malden residents with direct access to the Malden River,” said Mayor Christenson while at the site of the project following the announcement.
The Bayrd Boathouse, named in honor of the foundation, will primarily serve the Malden High School's crew team and it will also have public restrooms that will be available to all parkgoers. The City is also looking into public boating programs that will allow people to rent boats for use on the Malden River.
The Malden River Works Park is the result of five years of visioning and collaboration between the City, a steering committee including Malden resident leaders of color, and a project team that includes urban designers and watershed and climate resilience planners. Phase 1 is wrapping up now, with Phase 2 set to begin in early 2027.

Inspired by this post (https://www.reddit.com/r/malden/comments/1w2rxg5/just_dug_this_up_this_old_looking_jacket_button/), here is what I found in my backyard. It probably was a saucer or shallow dish. I bought the jug in the same pattern, phoenix flying turkey, to show its full design.

Malden Public Library is hosting a screening of Buster Keaton short films on September 29 and we need two musicians to perform live scores for “The Blacksmith” and “My Wife’s Relations.” Any instrument/genre within reason…but we’d love to find a pianist to play the baby grand in the community room.
This is a free opportunity. No one is getting paid, so if that’s not your scene, I understand. If you’ve been looking for a low-stakes opportunity to get into film scoring, however, this is your chance!
For more information, DM me or comment here.

Tree fell at Amerige Field, took town a few poles. The intersection of Clifton and Highland is blocked.

Is Elmwood Pharmacy closed for good? If so, does anyone know what’s going to happen to it? I walked by the other day and there was a note on the door asking for mail to be left the at laundromat next door. It’s been around forever.

If you meant to vote by mail but haven't gotten around to it, please do one of the following:
- put your completed and sealed ballot in a collection box, either outside the Malden Police Station or outside City Hall. OR
- tear up the mail-in ballot and vote in person on Tuesday.
The reason is that all our Malden mail is sent into Boston for sorting and then sent back out. **The mail isn't postmarked until it reaches Boston.** To be counted, ballots must be postmarked no later than Election Day. So, we're past the point where we can assume something mailed today (Friday) will be postmarked by Tueday.

Im moving to Malden this weekend and keep hearing great things about the restaurants and other fun things to do in the area but haven’t been able to find any info on clubs or nightlife.
Do you have to go into Boston for real night life, or are there fun spots for twenty-something’s to spend a night dancing at?

Neighborhood View's Lorna Garey "watched the tape" of our four local candidate forums and brings us her synthesis of the contrasts they show in the candidates' approaches to housing, education, Beacon Hill reform and more.

I’ve noticed that the temperature of the water coming out of my tap is generally 74 degrees, no matter how long I let it run. Is this normal in Malden? I’m used to much lower temperatures when I lived in other towns around here.

I know there are several bakeries in the area. But, they seem to do wholesale and desserts.
Any recommendation for where to buy sourdough bread?

I was out for my morning walk & found a Bank Card/T-Pass/Insurance card holder on Mountain Ave this morning. If it is yours, send me a message & I'll get it back to you.
