Experiences with The Falls by Epic Homes?

I stopped by and took a look at a few of these townhomes recently. They looked nice. I got the whole sales pitch and blah, blah, blah.

Though, all I see online are negative experiences with Epic builds. Is it a case of a few people having issues but being vocal about it? Or is this a pretty common occurrence?

Hoping someone can shed light on the positive and/or negative experiences. I’ve read some of the historical threads, but also wanting to hear more recent experiences.

Sturgeon Slough fishing

Hey y’all

Just wondering if anyone’s fished in the sturgeon slough, it looks promising when I drive by. Is there a good place to park? Or a trail to access?

Thanks!

International Voter Registration Drive 2026, for dual Canadian-U.S. citizens in Maple Ridge

Hi, I'd like to post a message from Democrats Abroad in BC. This is the second (and final) reminder I'll make for dual Canadian-US citizens and other eligible US voters who want to participate in the 2026 American midterm elections, especially for those living in and around Maple Ridge. Democrats Abroad in Canada is dedicated to mobilizing overseas US voters; if you're over 18 by November 3, here's how you can get involved:

Steps to Request Your Ballot

  1. Register or update your registration through Votefromabroad.org. As an alternative, you can also use FVAP.gov.

  2. If you're already registered, request a ballot! You need to request a ballot every calendar year that you want to vote.

  3. Fill Out and Return Your Ballot: Once you receive your ballot, follow the instructions carefully to complete it and return it by the specified deadline.

Need Assistance?

We're here to help! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at GOTV @ votefromabroad .org (just remove the spaces). Additionally, our FAQ for voting can answer questions on how to make the process go smoothly.

Importantly: Spread the word!

Do you have any friends, contacts or family overseas that you could reach? All eligible US citizens can vote regardless of where they're living. Share the link https://voteabroad.org/RedditVote26: If you have any questions about voting, I'd be happy to answer them here on Reddit. You can also find out what we're doing near you at Democrats Abroad. Thanks for reading!

Scraped my sliding door on a concrete pillar — looking for affordable/cash body shop recs (paying out of pocket)

Had an unfortunate run-in with an underground parkade pillar.

The vehicle & damage:

  • 2015 Toyota Sienna (Gray)
  • Passenger side sliding door has multiple horizontal scrapes, concrete transfer, and a noticeable dent/crease along the lower contour line.
  • The main horizontal groove cut through the paint down to the bare sheet metal.
  • The sliding door still functions/slides properly, but the panel needs metalwork and paint (or a spot repair/door swap).

If anyone has any recommendations for affordable body shops, or places that can source a used door, please let me know! I will be paying out of pocket. Looking for places in the Metro Vancouver area.

Work Together On A Rat Solution?

There is a rat problem around Haney Place mall that isn't getting better.

Nothing short of a small operation to capture and relocate or exterminate the hundreds hopefully not thousands of black rats that are beginning to infest our community. They have moved into the crawlspaces and probably walls of some. Internet chatter is growing about it.

I don't know what the best course of action is but we need to do something.

I do know leaving out poison is usually a problem. It was a year ago when dogs were poisoned. You don't want people that can't even keep garbage in a can to start messing with poisons.

Cheap laminated signs summarizing basic practices for minimizing pests and to eliminate potential rat habitats (like that hole in your patio footing?). That would just be the first line of defense.

Same prevention tactics apply for raccoons as cute and docile as they are. They don't last long walking the streets so we try to peacefully coexist with them. They seldom cause a problem unless (can you guess?) leave your trash unsecured. There are many ways to work with this.

Then we would have to round up the ones that are already there. There are a few ways that could go. Humane or not humane elimination or catch and relocate - but where and who will do it?

The old way would be to offer $5 head and I bet they'd be cleaned up in a real hurry. That's rather old school and may yield kickback, which brings me to my last point.

We would need public approval of whatever process we decide. I'd bet nobody would mind their city putting a bit of money towards an operation to remove these rats. The RCMP does a good job of keeping the homeless out of the area, so now the rats that came with them, can go as well.

Please consider this issue and leave your ideas and stories below.

Maple Ridge RCMP Investigate Into Graffiti at Golden Ears

I am as upset as everyone here. This is one of my favourite spots in the city, I am furious this happened and I really hope the RCMP does something about this. We absolutely love our nature here and I would really appreciate if anyone else had updates if this person was arrested or got a hefty fine. This should never be allowed in any of our public parks.

Anybody else struggling to get a job?

I've been looking for the last 3 months, overtime expanding my search area as well as what I apply to. I've also been keeping track of my applications and recently hit 40 and yet the most I've gotten is a single 2nd round interview with no offer after. Am I doing something wrong or is the economy just cooked right now?

This guy is roaming around near Holly and 117 Ave. No collar, seems a little shy and isn’t very friendly, but looks well cared for.
If you recognize him or know his owner, please let them know he’s in the area.

Our neck of the woods fest FREE vs VIP?

Does anyone have any thoughts on if VIP is worth it vs just hanging with friends in the park? It is only 50 bucks but the wife isn’t convinced we need it. I’m convinced I’ll get my beer faster and the “linger longer” is appealing . https://purchase.mapleridgeact.ca/EventAvailability?EventId=19401

Canadian Produce where can I get it?

All the grocery stores in Maple Ridge seem to be inundated with US produce, Langley Farm Market has to be the worst. I’m almost Surprised they don’t have a U.S. flag outside their stores. Anyone know any stores focussing on providing Canadian produce?

Mattress fell from other truck hit my car , Golden ears Way,Maple ridge

Hi everyone, looking for any witnesses or dashcam footage from Saturday, August 22 around 5:40–5:45 PM on Golden Ears Way, heading toward Highway 7 East / Maple Ridge.

A mattress came off a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction, flew across the road and hit my car, causing damage. It happened very quickly, so I wasn’t able to identify the vehicle or get the licence plate.

If you were travelling on Golden Ears Way around this time and saw the incident, the vehicle carrying the mattress, or have any dashcam footage, please let me know. Even footage from shortly before the incident could be helpful.

Lost my Keys at Maple Ridge Park

I was there today (August 22nd) around 4pm. It was a dark red Lululemon lanyard. There was a Nissan Key, a Compass card keychain, around 4 keys which one of them is blue with a different shape from the others.

If you got it please let me know, I hope to find at least my Nissan key. Any ideas where I should call?

I was heartbroken to see that the beautiful waterfall at the end of this trail has been defaced by a lot of graffiti. It seems to be a misguided attempt to memorialize someone who drowned here earlier this month. I have notified BC Parks so hope it can be removed.

I can't imagine that the man who died enjoying this special place would want to be "honoured" in this way. I've enjoyed walking here for 30 + years and have never seen anyone do such a thing.
