Hello! I looked for "names meaning hawk" on the internet, and Lautaro came up. I have never seen this name or heard of the Mapuche until today. Is Leftraru the true name? What is the true meaning of this name, and when is a child named Leftraru? Is this name only for boys, or is it for any child?

I would also like to learn more about the Mapuche, and the history of the region. Do you recommend any books, websites, or other resources in English? (Or in German or Korean languages, though I am best at English.)

Hola, tomé un ramo en mi universidad: Geomitología. Debo elegir un tema de investigación sobre mitos que se relacionen a la geología, astronomía y/o meteorología.

Tan solo conozco el mito de Tren Tren Vilu y Kai Kai Vilu y el mito de la creación. Busco mitos mapuche relacionados a estos temas, sobretodo meteorológicos que hablen de los rayos (estudio ing eléctrica), pero todos me sirven.

Acerca de nuestro trabajo

El sitio web mapudungun.cl contiene material lexicográfico para consulta de la lengua mapuche o mapudungun.

El objetivo principal de este proyecto es la creación de un glosario o vocabulario básico de Mapudungun que sea de uso libre con ejemplos y audios. Cada entrada cuenta con una definición en español, un análisis morfológico que permite identificar su etimología y relación con otras entradas del diccionario. Los ejemplos se han escogido y revisado durante el proceso.

Actually, generally, I would like to know if there is a way to express to someone who is dear to me just how much they are! I’ve been expressing to them in my own languages, but not theirs, and I’m not sure where to find resources for Mapudungun.
