Officially Unofficial Business How would you all feel about a community challenge?

If this sub was to host a challenge where we chose 2 or 3 songs, and the community did metal covers of those songs, would you all be interested? If we can get enough interested people I think it would be a fun time!

Thanks, Daxelol

"Charge up" needed to play?

Ive been learning flatfoot/ankle technique for about 3 months now. Everytime i practize i need to play atleast 30 min beforehand, and then spend another 30 just digging into the pedal in order to get the balance right. After i find that balance, everything works effortlessly, even at high tempos. but the way there is sooo long, does anyone else experience this? how to make this time shorter? i dont manage to practise 2 hours+ every single day

Trick Pro1-V Chain Retrofit Conversion Kit

I've really been struggling with mid tempo stuff lately and I've been considering trying out chain drives again and maybe going back to that. Has anyone tried the chain drive conversion kit for Trick Pro1-V pedals? I can't find much information about them online and wondering if anyone has any experience using chain drive Tricks.

Why is the people so helpless?

I was in practice with a band I'm in, and there was also a friend of mine practicing in the same practice studio, so i was moving between rooms with this band and my friend's band, and I left my sticks just once the first time I left, and heard the sound of the drums from the outside, already irritating to know that they where using the drums while I wasn't there, but when i returned, i saw that they are of this fking idiots that use the fking sticks upside down. WHY? Why do non drummers tend to use the stick UPSIDE DOWN. I may be exaggerating a bit, bit know i feel VERY uncomfortable using them now in my house practicing. Fking stupid people

Need help with double kick (don’t mind my legs and feet LOL)

With each interval in this video, I bring up the speed. My issue is whenever I get to faster BPM’s, as you’ll notice, my feet dance around the pedal board, my leg stiffen up, and my kicks become inconsistent and all over the place. I feel like I’ve hit a brick wall with my double kick playing for some time now as I haven’t been able to been able to comfortably play faster. I want to also eventually start to learn, swivel or heel toe, but I know that isn’t a good idea until I get fully comfortable with faster playing with ankle. Any kind words and advice is needed and appreciated, thanks so much.

Tama Dyna-Sync vs Pearl Demon XR vs Demon Drive for double bass

Metal drummers, need some pedal advice.

I’m getting back into serious drumming after a 10-year break. I played heavily before that, so I’m rebuilding rather than starting from scratch. Currently focusing hard on ankle technique, swivel and double-bass speed, with a goal of eventually reaching 240BPM 16ths cleanly.

My current pedal is an old Iron Cobra Power Glide, and I’ve recently gotten much more out of it after fixing my seating position, spring tension and foot placement.

My options are basically:

Tama Dyna-Sync
Pearl Demon XR
Pearl Demon Drive

Boutique pedals like Trick/ACD/Czarcie Kopyto aren’t realistically available to me.

Footboard length is a priority — I wear UK 12 and prefer plenty of room to move my foot around.
For anyone who’s actually used these for metal/double bass:

Which would you choose and why?

Especially interested in footboard length/geometry, ankle technique, swivel, and how they feel around 220+ BPM.

Thanks!

SJC drums + DW hardware vs Pearl drums + Pearl hardware — which would you choose?

My brain is about to explode because i am sooo indecisive, I'm trying to decide between going with SJC drums and DW hardware, or just getting a Pearl kit with Pearl hardware.

The SJC setup I'm looking at is a tour series dual rack

The Pearl option I'm considering is a decade maple.

I'm mainly wondering whether the SJC drums + DW hardware are worth the extra money compared to the Pearl drums + hardware.

(dw hardware id go with would be 9000x, vs pearl 930)

Some foot work @ 190bpm

Making moves toward 200bpm! Ignore my weird ā€œwarm upā€ quarter notes. I still have a lot of trouble transitioning from quarter > eighth> sixteenth but the 16th notes are becoming more sustainable once I can get going.

Edit: did not realize how loud the metronome was outside the mix of my headphones so I apologize to anyone raw-doggin’ this hot mess on their phone speakers.

What pedals should I be using?

So I’ve been playing for about 15 years. with a year gap. I’m not the best but I can certainly hold my ground and I’ve always played heavier stuff. I’ve recently gotten back to playing now that I’m at a house I’m able to and I want to learn extreme metal techniques like doublestroke and swivel. I picked up some DW5000XF pedals this week and I’ve definitely made progress with heel toe but it feels like they might be too heavy for me to do what I want to with them, does anyone else play this style with these pedals or should I return them and get something different

What’s the best setup for a uni dorm for me to maintain and improve my double pedal and hand speed? Would a double pedal be heard by the floor below as well?
