I had to see 9 doctors to be diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. 8 doctors said I had nothing while a tumour was bulging out of my neck.
6 years later. I am experiencing a 12 week pregnancy loss and the mcgill Glen hospital has treated me like trash.
For context some of the doctors there, specifically the oncologist team is quite the best but not all of them are good.
I went in Saturday for severe back pain, shortness of breath, palpitations, severe pelvic pain and the doctor completely dismissed me. Told me she couldnât prescribe pain killers and sent me home and told me to go to the OBGYN clinic on Monday. She refused to do a scan or call a specialist, she refused to further investigate . Mind you, I could possible have septic shock.
I went home because I am tired of fighting with doctors. But the pain increased even more to the point, I couldnât walk or talk. so last night I went back with symptoms of Shortness of breath, severe back and pelvic pain, my arm was numb. I was a level 2 on the priority list which I saw with my own eyes. Yet I was only seen this morning at 8. I was told by the nurses there that doctors donât take patient in the hours of the night. Itâs true they called no one from 2am to 7am.
Iâm crying in the emergency room full of pain. Exhausted because I havenât slept in 2 days. Because an emergency doctor dismissed a womanâs pain. It seems that we are to be strong about everything and take it.
Now, at 10 am I am still waiting. 12 hours later. At a level 2 priority. With severe pain. Iâve been through pain, cancer pain, and this Iâve never felt before. Yet Iâm treated like trash. I donât know if Iâll be fine but I needed to speak out.
So when you vote, vote for fucking change. We need it, desperately. The CAQ will not change things. If youâre under 55 go out and vote.
