Not sure if this is the best spot but I figure some of you will have some insights for me. I've read through the rules and I most of my questions come down to where and how you can legally leave a crab pot overnight.

Can I just wade or kayak out a bit into to bay and drop a pot, tieing it down when I get back to shore? Say at Trail's End or somewhere off of Crook Horn Creek nature trail?

The regs say no floating lines so I can't just tie a pool noodle real short to a line at low tide and come back at low tide to retrieve? I.E. the noodle would be underwater until the tide got to almost all the way low.

Any tips? I used the collapsible traps off of my family's dock as a kid but never the non-collapsible pots where you leave them overnight. Really just trying to understand where I can legally drop them in.

I’ve recently gotten into fishing and have been trying different spots around South NJ, but I haven’t had much luck this summer. I’ve caught a few small fluke, but nothing keeper-sized and nothing consistent. I’m really hoping to catch something decent before the season ends.

My current set up is a 7 ft ugly stix rod, with hi-lo rig, 2 oz weight, hook with gulp bloodworms. Which everyone has told me is a pretty solid setup?

I’ve mostly been fishing from piers/shore, and I’m still learning, so I’d really appreciate any advice on what I should change. Should I be using different bait, a different rig, fishing certain tides, casting somewhere specific, or targeting a different species from shore?

At this point, I’m just trying to stop getting skunked and finally have a solid day of fishing lol. Thanks so much in advance!

I’ve fished the passaic river for northern pike 3 times in the last couple weeks and i’ve only caught 2 I know they aren’t a particularly hard to catch fish so does anyone got any tips or spots/ stretches of the river they’d be willing to share? Would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone ever fished these lakes? Bank accessible? Good structure? Mostly bass fishing but pickerel or anything else really works. Just looking for good bank accessibility.

I've been trying to catch my first carp and even bought some hair rigs and pack bait setups. Unfortunately, I've only been able to catch channel and bullhead catfish with this setup. I've tried Carnegie Lake in Princeton, Colonial Park in Somerset, Creighton Lake in Middlesex.

I have never seen a more frustrating lake. It looks so fishy it's incredible. Tons of lily pads, matted vegetation, shallow water, deep water, humps and channels, drops offs, brush piles, tons of fallen trees and timber, docks, tons of shoreline cover. Yet the two times I went there this year I got skunked. Not even a nibble. Tons of fish breaking the surface(probably carp), I see fish on my fish finder, threw everything but the kitchen sink at em, and nothing. Anyone actually catch anything in this lake? Is it really that pressured? Was there yesterday and there was another guy on a kayak and two jon boats. So 6 of us total, nobody caught a thing.

Our first time fishing in saltwater, my kid caught a fluke (not a keeper tho) but she’s pretty stoked and we are mostly going to come back next weekend.

I just started going saltwater fishing. I usually go for trout and ultralight fish, so walking a 1.5 mile long jetty at 2am in the middle of high tide had me so out of my element. But now I see the appeal. Caught my first striper off the SP minnow, been chasing striper in freshwater for a while so glad I finally got one! We all caught an entire fleet of croaker and sea bass as well, and most epic of all, I watched my friend fight and bring in a bull shark, using the striper I caught as bait. I bought myself a used penn 130 and had that sitting out with some croaker, but nothing took it

Hello everyone. My younger brother and I are looking to get into fishing. We have fished sandy hook twice already during the evening but have had no luck. We really just want to catch anything. we are going tomorrow early morning but i am not sure where to fish. I have tried the fishing beach but had no luck. I was thinking of fishing the rip. I also am not sure what bait to use. In the past I have used this fake bunker I bought from walmart but I am starting to realize I need fresh live bait to catch anything. I would Like to do some fluke fishing but I honestly dont know the basics of fluke fishing. Any tips?

UPDATE: Thank you for all the tips! We tried fluke fishing but had no luck. Then I tried a silver kast master and caught two snapper blues. Then there was a crazy bonito rush and I ended up coming home with a ton of bonito and one snapper blue! Overall great morning. I appreciate the fishing map from u/FerretBat, I caught my fish in and around those locations!

Dumb question, is lot m the fishing beach? Do you have to pay to park there?

Hi, I’m a beginner along with my two kids 11 and 5 haha.. although they’ve been catching more fish than me tbh, we go to Highstown lake and Robbinsville lake often but I never saw any bass or any bigger fish than Sunfish.
