My husbands name starts with an I and I start with an E. We have 2 kids with names that start with the letter I and I would love to have names with the letter E. I love the name Eliana but I had a miscarriage and I decided to give that name to her.. I have found it difficult to find boy names with the letter E. It's at the top of my list currently, just yesterday my top pick was Helena or Evelyn, but I've realised that as much as I love these names they don't necessarily fit with my families names, however Joan (jone not Jo-anne) really seems to fit, all the woman in my family tree have short names that don't really jump out at you, like there all like lily, Ethel, Ellen, Clara, Mable, Anne, Jane ect... And my own name is the same in length and vibe.

I have a legal first name in English that my mom chose for school purposes, so people wouldn’t botch the pronunciation of my Greek name. When going to school I’d use my legal name, and at home I was always called by my Greek name. I had a very hard time in school and was bullied a lot, so after graduation I decided to stop using my legal name and go by my Greek one instead, as I felt more connected to the name my family used for me.

I should’ve legally changed it back then, but I said I’d do it when I get married so I don’t have to do it twice. As time has gone on I don’t even think I’m interested in legal marriage anyway, so it’s not relevant anymore, and now my name is on a LOT more stuff at 28 than it was fresh out of high school lol.

The stuff I’d have to change now:
- License/registration/insurance
- Health insurance/doctors offices
- SS/birth certificate
- Bank/credit cards
- Phone plan
- Job
- Electric company
- Apartment lease
- Probably a bunch of other stuff I’m not even thinking of

If anyone could share how long it took to get all of that stuff done and how much of a hassle it was, or if you have any advice on what to prioritize first after my SS card, I’d greatly appreciate it. I’ve been wanting to do this for years but it feels like such a daunting task that I just haven’t. It’s annoying to have to constantly explain my preferred name with doctors and new jobs and whatever else.

I always thought it was pronounced like Add-eh-lyn solely because of the youtuber Adelaine Morin, but as I am trying to figure out a name for my baby, I am realizing that may not be the correct pronunciation. I’m having a bit of name regret and I’m wondering if I’m overthinking it.
I chose a boy name that is currently in the Top 5 most popular baby names in my country. When I chose it, I genuinely loved the name and didn’t realize how popular it was. Now that I see it everywhere on social media, I keep thinking, “What if I had chosen a different name?”
I don’t actually dislike the name. I still love how it sounds, and I’m attached to it because it’s my son’s name. I just feel sad knowing that it isn’t as uncommon as I originally thought.

We’re Greek, and we’ve decided to name our baby Evangelos, it’s my dad’s name, and honestly, I absolutely love it. We’re not changing our minds, so this is purely out of curiosity 😅

Evangelos (Ευάγγελος) is a traditional Greek name meaning “bearer of good news” and is also connected to the Greek word evangelion (“good news” / “gospel”). Vangelis (Βαγγέλης) is the common, more casual Greek form of Evangelos.

In Greece, some people consider Evangelos/Vangelis a bit “old-fashioned” and say it sounds more like the name of a middle-aged or older man rather than a little boy. Some also find it not particularly “aesthetic” or modern.

Personally, I LOVE Evangelos. I agree that it doesn’t immediately sound like a tiny baby name to me 😂, but I think it’s a beautiful, strong name, and I love the full version especially.
