Czechoslovakia 20 korun 1937 President Masaryk

The first President of the Republic of Czechoslovakia Tomas Garrigue Masaryk died in 1937 and the state commemorated him with this beautiful coin. As it had to be prepared very quickly, the design of the circulation 20 korun coins was adapted for the obverse while the reverse was taken from an earlier 1928 commemorative 10 korun coin. The result is quite stunning and easy to get in high grades as a million was produced and as it was issued just before the Second World War majority of the mintage was stacked.

It might be a stupid question, but how did collectors actually get their hands on uncirculated coins if they are “uncirculated” AKA have never hit people’s pockets or cash registers?

Mezzo dollaro Kennedy 1964

Thumbnail gallery

Buongiorno a tutti,

Grazie mille!

Grading difference

I know different grading companies have different criteria. I just bought the NGC not realizing I already had a slab by PCGS. To me, the two standards seem vastly different. Is it just not knowing enough?

Error or PMD on 1986 Quarter?

Going through some coins and found this Quater. Is this some sort of lamination error or perhaps PMD above “In God We Trust”?

Anything valuable here? 🪙

Hi everyone! I’m new to this subreddit and I honestly know very little about coin collecting. I recently came across these coins/sets and I’m trying to understand whether they have any real numismatic value or if most of their value is just in the silver.

I have:

3 Canadian Montreal 1976 Olympic silver sets (1974, 1975 and 1976 – 4 coins each)

Malta 1 Lira 1972 – Manwel Dimech

Malta 2 Liri 1973 – Mdina Gate

2 Vatican City 500 Lire – Sede Vacante 1958, with original cases
Vatican City Holy Year 1983–84 set – 500 + 1000 Lire

3 Vatican City 1974 Paul VI Year XII mint sets

France Monnaie de Paris “Fleurs de Coins” 1971 set, in the original packaging

They all seem to be in pretty good condition and most still have their original packaging.
I’d really appreciate any opinions on realistic collector value, rarity, or whether any of these are worth taking to a proper numismatist rather than selling for silver value. Thanks!

Are war nickels worth anything?

I've found a few in a coin collection I've had in my safe for a few years and was wondering if they were worth more than just face value.

Blank Gold planchet type 2 error??

Thumbnail gallery

found this in a Neiman Marcus bag in a old suitcase, double wrapped in some random cellophane/plastic and inside a ziplock jeweler baggie in a plastic coin holder while digging thru bins at a thrift store. It doesn't stick to a heavy magnet and it's somewhat soft and easy to scratch, but heavy and the size of a standing Liberty dollar coin. From what I have researched online and through an app, I paid to identify it. I've learned it's a blank planchet type 2, the app stated that is appeared to be a authentic US minted coin and recommended sending it to be graded. I'm just curious and wondering if anyone can offer any information on it and possibly tell me if it's worth anything.

I’ve done some light reading about this commemorative but would like to hear more about it. What grade would you guest it to be? Does it hold value over its silver content? Hope everyone is having a blessed day 🙏

1822 Capped Bust Half Dollar. It's a little dipped, but still a halfway decent coin with honest wear.
