Who in Pepperdine is ordering from shipt?

Almost 3-4 times a week someone in Pepperdine orders from target through shipt and never tips, they needs to realize that it’s a 19 mile drive to get to you and 19 miles back to get to our zone. This person waited 6-7 hours for their order to get delivered, if you want your order delivered within a hour n a half you gotta add that $40 tip upfront because nobody is going to risk whatever you tip or not at the end. As you can see your order time frame kept pushing further up and no pay increase, you are requesting a service to be provided to you but you don’t want to pay, you want people to do it out of the kindness of their heart, but kindness doesn’t put gas in our cars and this is what happens when we refuse your order

Advice is rushing really worth it?

im not a partier by any means but do love the occasional function and honestly just want a way to find more friends bc that seems like a huge perk to me. but also, ive never been into the sorority thing and only was gonna do it bc i didnt wanna not be involved in any sort of party life and wanted some sort of community, plus a lot of my suitemates were gonna do it. but it doesnt really feel like me and idk if its the move. im gonna go to the recruitment events just in case but please be honest, is joining a sorority at pepperdine worth it, or are there other ways to get involved in these things?

Question Financial Aid

Anyone experiencing unanswered emails from Pepperdine’s financial aid office. This is for GSEP, I filled out my FAFSA about 3 weeks ago , to this day I haven’t received my financial aid package, I’ve emailed them multiple times and cc’d my enrollment specialist and still haven’t heard back. It’s frustrating having to deal with this , every other university I’ve attended has always replied back on time.

Pepperdine Students Impacted by Financial Aid Delays & Lack of Communication

Pepperdine Students I Want to Hear From You

If you’ve been impacted by Pepperdine’s financial aid delays, changes to your aid package, or the lack of communication surrounding it, please DM me.
I’m a Pepperdine student and I’m conducting research for an investigative paper documenting how these issues have affected students financially, academically, and personally.
I’m looking for undergraduate and graduate students who have experienced financial hardship, housing instability, registration issues, unexpected changes to aid, or simply been left without answers.
You can remain anonymous. Please message me privately if you’re willing to share your experience.
I want to be clear: I have been impacted by this too. And honestly, it took being personally impacted for me to fully see just how deeply this has affected other students.
Students deserve more than to simply be heard.

We deserve answers. We deserve transparency. We deserve the truth. And we deserve to be able to pursue our education without having our lives thrown into uncertainty because of systems we have no control over.

I will also be submitting a formal letter to Pepperdine University documenting the impact these issues have had on students. If you share your experience with me and want to remain anonymous when I write about it or include it in my submission, please tell me. Your privacy will be respected.

I’m doing this as a student and as an advocate because I refuse to let what students have experienced go unseen.
We deserve better.

In advocacy and solidarity,
A fellow Pepperdine student

Edit: hi everyone I just wanted to say that I have just responded to everyone. I specifically had a rough weekend and also I didn’t want to respond to anyone when nothing really could be done over the weekend. Although I do believe that financial aid should’ve clocked in this weekend they didn’t! Continue to message me I will be doing my best as today is registration day. Please make sure that you’re checking your accounts and please make sure if you need to call. Call as many times as you can.

Pepperdine Financial Aid GSEP

hello! i’m wondering what to do here or if anyone has been in this situation. i plan on attending the MA in psychology program this fall. in my particular situation, i had to finish my undergrad degree in the summer (i was missing a class). it’s not graded, it’s p/np if that helps. i will not be completely finished until the second week of september. i understand that class regristation opens up august 31st and i cannot access my financial aid offer/letter without submitting my final transcript . is this going to impact me signing up for classes? is there a temporary way to clear the registration/financial aid hold or document my pending degree until my final transcript is available? i’m very worried and it’s kind of difficult to get in contact with the financial aid department. thank you!

Pepperdine Financial Aid

I am about near close to losing my mind. It is impossible to get in touch with them whether it be through email or call. You never get any response back. Is anyone else having this issue and just ultimately stressed since the aid offered isn’t even enough to cover my first two semester.

Pepperdine Financial aid -GSEP

I am extremely anxious and stressed, I can't even fully immerse myself in my summer courses. I am still awaiting my Grad plus loan to even just show on my Wavenet. I received my unsubsidized and they've disbursed it already, however I rely on the Grad plus to cover all of my tuition, and more. I am feeling anxious because I am seeing students who have received their Grad plus for Summer term weeks ago yet mine still isn't even pending. I am a continuing student, I completed the MPN and counseling, I made sure to reapply for the new academic year, nothing is showing on my to-do list. Yet, when I simply just ask the financial aid office if they just received my new application and if everything was completed correctly, they can't even answer that. I am feeling so discouraged right now. With what, five weeks left, are we even going to receive it before the Fall quarter? With how much money this school receives they should've been more proactive with helping students. My savings is basically depleted now because I had to dip into it to cover my expenses.

12-month vs 20-month Full time MBA HELP me decide

Looking at accelerated one-year MBA programs and trying to get a realistic picture of the workload.

For those who did a 12-month program:

- How many hours a week were you genuinely putting in?

- Was there room for anything outside coursework, or does it swallow the year whole?

I am student from Canada and want to enjoy my time and truly experience the area and get the most of the degree but 1 year is also cheaper, and less time where I am unable to make money on an F1 visa.

Any insight would be extremely helpful!

and any precautions about the program or negatives you wish you knew would be greatly appreciated

Universities Unrealistic Degree Timeline Is Causing Students to Lose Federal Aid Before They Can Graduate

Thumbnail
6 Upvotes

Pepperdine’s unrealistic advertised degree timeline is now costing students federal aid—and this could be happening at other universities.

Under OBBBA, a student’s Expected Time to Credential (ETTC) is tied to the program length: the minimum published time for a full-time student to complete the degree. The Department of Education has clarified that this means the minimum timeframe a university publishes in its catalog, marketing materials, or other official publications. (FSA Partner Connect)

But that system assumes something critical: that universities are publishing an honest and realistically achievable full-time completion time.
Pepperdine advertises a compressed completion timeline that, in practice, can ignore sequenced prerequisites, course availability, practicum requirements, and placement delays. Yet that same advertised number can now determine a student’s ETTC—and therefore how long they retain legacy federal-aid protections. So universities get the competitive benefit of advertising faster degrees, while students bear the financial consequences when the federal government treats those marketing claims as reality.

DOE already requires schools to accurately report their published program length. (FSA Partner Connect) If a university’s advertised timeline is not realistically achievable under normal full-time progression, students should not be losing the funding they need to graduate because of it.
OBBBA has turned what used to be marketing language into a federally consequential number. Universities need to be held accountable for whether that number is actually truen.

Question is it better to use an ipad or notebook in college?

i’m about to start my first year at pepperdine as a nursing major, and i’ve seen mixed reviews online about what to use to take notes. for most of high school, i used paper notes and would say i did pretty well (mostly A, occasional A-/B+ student), but towards the end of high school my parents got me an ipad to use and i loved it. i’m not sure if it made a huge difference though - i did well in classes until the end but the senioritis hit and i definitely was more checked out. should i use the ipad for note taking, or stick to paper notebooks in college? i have 5 courses this semester, some gen eds (finance, english, foundations of reasoning, etc) and science/nursing courses (anatomy, etc). im a big flashcard person and have good study tactics that helped me do well in high school, but im not sure what is best for college. pls help!!

Fraternities?

looking into pepperdine for undergrad and wondering about frats. i get pepp is a dry campus but i still want to be able to let loose and party sometimes. all my siblings went to alabama so a school where being a gdi is pretty standard is a different world than what i’ve experienced. i understand that there is not on campus houses so is it just satellite homes pretty much? could you live in the house? (or would you even want to)
Thanks
