Yes. Prepare for a digression. Most homes are owned mostly by the corporation that financed the “purchase” of it by the family who pays the taxes and insurance premiums. If those payments stop, we find out who the real owner is.

It's worse than that. The original entity that gave the loan, sold the loan... Usually in a package of multiple properties, to another entity. And that entity might sell it to another one. And a third entity might be the one that collects the money for whoever the current owner of it is... And that can be moved around without the homeowner having a choice. 

On top of the homeowner having to pay the taxes, which are usually required to be held in escrow paid every month so that they can't miss it without the lender knowing ahead of time that they're behind...
