To the inevitable response from MAGA that Obama gave 'pallets' of cash...he released frozen Iranian assets. Meanwhile the current Iran conflict has directly cost $38 billion militarily and a currently projected $87 billion in extra gas and diesel expenses. Not to mention that the strategic oil reserves have been depleted to the point that experts warn that the caverns they're stored in could collapse.

They also go hand in hand. The US only has as much military might as it does because it is allowed to use bases in other countries all around the world. The reason the USS Lincoln was in such dire straits was because the US logistics hub in Bahrain was taken out by Iran, meaning it needed to resupply in Diego Garcia - UK territory 2,200 miles away. Now imagine the UK stopped letting the US use their territory.

So many soft power projects were killed all over the world during the first term that China stepped in and took over. Whatever was left was cut by doge.

Yeah, because soft power is very cheap in comparison to hard power.

And it's not like this current war is much of a display of military "might" anyway.
