Because 1 of those 2/3rds is just conservative lite, and is just there to scream both sides both sides all day

Because in reality it isn’t 2/3, it’s only 1/3. There is an equal and opposite 1/3. This leaves only 1/3 that are working rationally. It’s why nothing gets done. Each side fuels their base 1/3 and tries to pull a simple majority form the remaining 1/3. That 1/3 is trying their best to remain intellectually informed and guided and not pulled into one or the other irrationally charged direction.
