I know this has nothing to do with anything on this post, but you mentioned the NY accent and reminded me of one of the absolute highlights of my life.
Three years ago I visited Boston. It was my first time and I met up with an online/phone friend for the first time in the like 20 years we knew each other.
We had just watched a Red Sox game, in which they beat the Angels 9-7 with Ohtani batting. Such an awesome game.
After the game we were standing around outside waiting for a Lyft and the topic of accents comes up. She says, âOh yeah, what do you know about the Boston accent?â
On purpose to fuck with her, I say in my cheesiest, most cliche New York accent, âEy! Iâm walkinâ heuh!â
She says, âFirst of all, nobody actually says that. Itâs a stupid tv thing. Second, thatâs New York, not Boston.â
No more than 10 seconds later we hear a little tire screech from the nearby intersection and then a guy, loud and clear, goes, âHey!! Iâm walkinâ here!â We couldnât stop laughing until our ride arrived and kept referencing it the rest of my time in Boston.
The friendship ended pretty soon after in a bad way because we tried to date and that went horribly. I wish we would have stayed friends but that will always be one of my favorite memories.
I've been in that same boat, and it stings, but to me, the regret is always outweighed by the good memories in the end. Good on you for still cherishing those moments.
Heâd lie again about thousands of Muslims celebrating on the roofs in Jersey City and try to tie it to the cityâs current mayor. NYC hates Trump and heâll never get over it.
What are we missing? Something about how al Qaeda would have never attempted it if he'd been in power? Say something berserk, "like poor Larry Silverstein lost his beautiful towers that day, but I hear he did very well from the insurance money. Very well. Beautiful towers but not as beautiful as mine. How much did Larry get again from insurance? Maybe Al Qaeda should have blown up my towers. " Then ramble on about the radical woke left loving Islamic terrorists and how they're all socialist and his followers will say it was all out of context
Itâs a memorial to those who died as human beings. Also, a lot of people who died werenât American citizens. NYC is an international city and people from around the world worked in those buildings. It would signal poorly to have Trump potentially talking about kicking out immigrants. His values arenât really commensurate to the event and the deaths of those people.

The organizers havenât let politicians speak at this since 2012, and for good reason: the 9/11 tragedy shouldnât be politicized.
